  1. I apologize for any confusion I may have caused. Jim Vesely ROA # 7437 BCA # 39477
  2. I guess you are referring to the earlier posting on the Chicago craigslist. Certainly a 68. Too many second gens being discussed here! Thanks. Jim Vesely ROA # 7437 BCA # 39477
  3. Mike, If you are referring to the Riviera in the Hemmings ad from Bend, OR, with all due respect, it is a 1969 model. It has a 1969 grille, 1969 rear bumper, 1969 rear side marker lamps and a 1969 interior. The sixth digit, 9, in the VIN indicates 1969. Jim Vesely ROA # 7437 BCA # 39477
  4. As an aside, Hermann Brunn, of the Brunn and Company coachbuilding company family, is said to have been largely responsible for the interior of the 1969-1971 Lincoln Continental Mark III. Jim Vesely ROA # 7437 BCA # 39477
  5. I doubt the chrome air cleaner lid on the 1970 Riviera GS had a decal based on my experience and also as we know the 68 and 71 Riviera GS models did not have a decal. Further, I believe it is a much cleaner look without the decal. Jim Vesely ROA # 7437 BCA # 39477
  6. Larry, So that you are aware, Briz on the V8 Buick website is the same person as Stephen Brisbois. Jim Vesely ROA # 7437 BCA # 39477
  7. Larry, That piece is known as the center trunk filler. It was added in the mid 1968 model year and included on the 1969 Rivieras. I do not see drill holes in the side pieces to install this panel on the photo you furnished so I suspect your Riviera was produced before the center trunk filler was being installed on the Flint assembly line. Briz on the V8 Buick website has reproduced this piece. Hope this helps. Jim Vesely ROA # 7437 BCA # 39477
  8. Larry, Buick dealers sold a passenger outside rear view mirror which is the same for all 1968 and 1969 Buicks. It is the mirror image opposite of the standard, non-remote drivers side outside rear view mirror. The one you pictured appears somewhat different as it is the optional remote mirror. Many years ago the NOS mirrors were difficult to find and expensive. However, they have been reproduced in approximately the the last decade or so. For example, CARS LLC lists it as SKU: MK689R for $149.00 Hope this helps. Jim Vesely ROA # 7437 BCA # 39477
  9. The information on this Mark II's data plate indicates: Paint code 14 - Starmist white. 1D3G interior codes - all leather, light beige biscuits, medium beige bolsters and light beige welts. C in 56C2547 indicates January 1956 production. A non factory air conditioned Mark II. Jim Vesely ROA # 7437 BCA # 39477
  10. What do you consider to be low mileage please? Jim Vesely ROA # 7437 BCA # 39477
  11. Appears to be a very well preserved example! Interesting that the factory installed dual exhaust system has been replaced with a single exhaust system. Jim Vesely ROA # 7437 BCA # 39477
  12. Ken, The restorations look great! Interested in the Buick tachometers. PM sent. Thank you. Jim Vesely ROA # 7437 BCA # 39477
  13. The original Batmobile was built by George Barris from the Lincoln Futura concept car which was itself constructed by Ghia. The Futura was eventually sold by Ford Motor Company to George Barris for $1 "and other good and valuable consideration". Jim Vesely ROA # 7437 BCA # 39477
  14. According to the information above, the mileage is now represented 100,000 lower than actual! Jim Vesely ROA # 7437 BCA # 39477
  15. Cadillac Fleetwood 75 limousines and nine passenger executive sedans had two separate air conditioning systems. The systems independently cool the front and rear compartments. The air intakes on the upper part of the rear fenders supply the trunk mounted air conditioner for the rear compartment system. Jim Vesely ROA # 7437 BCA # 39477
  16. As Ed indicated above, the first and second generation Riviera bodies came out of the Euclid Ohio Fisher Body plant. The EUC letters stamped on their data plates refers to this. Jim Vesely ROA # 7437 BCA # 39477
  17. There appears to be corrosion where the right side of the painted roof meets the stainless molding. Jim Vesely ROA # 7437 BCA # 39477
  18. GM built two twin turbo 1983 Riviera convertibles for actual track use. As Ed indicated, one is owned by the Sloan Museum. The other was owned by the GM Heritage collection. It was auctioned off and Jay Leno purchased it. Jim Vesely ROA # 7437 BCA # 39477
  19. Agreed, it may very well have been repainted in its original color or possibly changed to the factory available color of light gray metallic. Judging from the interior I would guess it likely left the factory with that exterior paint color.
  20. The CONTINENTAL letters on the spare tire bulge were present on all 1969, 1970 and 1971 Mark III's. They were affixed to the paint with two sided tape in 1969. They were fastened with bolts in 1970 and 1971. The Mark III lettering on the spare tire bulge was not put there by the factory. The color of this Mark III is light gray metallic (poly). It was produced no later than 12/31/1968 as it does not have headrests (mandated as of 01/01/1969). Jim Vesely ROA # 7437 BCA # 39477
  21. With due respect, As Gene alluded to above, suggest you are sure they indeed are 65 rallyes. Many rallye wheels are misrepresented or the parties do not understand the nuances of Buick rallyes. Jim Vesely ROA # 7437 BCA # 39477
