  1. I can't figure out why they don't have helos out there pulling containers off the ship and stacking them in the desert until the ship floats higher in the water - then just reload it, and resume the transit of the canal.
  2. If you are a car or truck guy of ANY age, Big Red is unforgettable.
  3. Check the Rockne Registry link on the webpage of the Antique Studebaker Club.
  4. I thought you meant Peerless written on the side....
  5. Years ago I had my 1966 Wagonaire at an all makes show, and a Chevy lover had a fit seeing my car. He thought I had done a great job customizing a Nova station wagon. When I pointed out that it was a bone stock Studebaker, he calmed down.... Then he saw the 283 motor, and it started all over again. At a gas station it would attract old men (What is it?). At the grocery store it would attract old women (Love your car!). At a car show, the kids wanted to climb the little step-ladder and stand for pictures in the cargo area (with the roof open). Driving that car was never boring, you were usually going to have an adventure or at least a good time.
  6. Mother Maybelle strumming the big archtop. I can't identify it, she usually played a Gibson L-5.
  7. Well, that is sad. Randy and I were both in the Studebaker Drivers Club and we spoke many times on the phone or via email. His publications are terrific, and his knowledge was astounding. We got together once at a Starbird show in Wichita and talked for hours. What a great guy!
  8. I'd love to see this vehicle in the flesh at an auto show today.
  9. I've purchased running Studebakers of the same type and era in good condition for much less.
  10. Done it myself with my 6 volt Studebaker... You just have to be smart and not leave them connected for a long time. Start the darn thing, pull the cables.
  11. Buddy Holly wrote some classic rock tunes during his 7 year career that are still covered by other artists. That is his legacy.
  12. That's called censorship. And policing the forum is Peter's JOB. Snitching is bad form.
  13. Probably leather. Real fabric doesn't stand up to the sun's heat very long without crumbling.
  14. The general public has no idea - which is why WE are supposed to inform THEM. If your attitude is to deride them or make fun of them when they make a wrong assertion or ask a dumb question - you are no ambassador for the hobby. Take your car home so you don't cause more problems for the rest of us. Only by being polite and respectful to the public will we have a chance to grow this hobby.
  15. You are whining about what might happen. Let's wait and see, shall we?
  16. Looks like something built by Randy Grubb, creator of the Blastolene Special and other custom creations.
  17. Back in the 70's I sold my '59 4 door Galaxie 500 to a guy restoring his. Since mine was almost all there, his '59 became the parts car. No drama, just good sense.
  18. Most Gemsa engines I've seen have been in racecars on the salt or dry lakes. For more info - check over on landracing.com - that's where the Bonneville racers hang out.
