I seem to remember that early Mack trucks had solid rubber tires.

I read the Vincent Curcio book when it was first published, and it remains one my favorites. Whenever some car guy is looking for a good read, this is the one I tout.

When I was a kid, a very tall fellow used to come into my mom's print shop. He was 6"6' tall, and I loved watching him fold himself into a tiny little Mini- Cooper. His knees were almost as high as the steering wheel. I asked him how he did it, and he told me it had more room inside than outside. At the age of 10, it made sense to me.

This happened about 15 years ago at the Sedgwick County Zoo in Wichita, KS. Thankfully the damage wasn't severe.

Yup. Started out as airport transportation, then most ended up on local bus lines. I used to ride in a '66 Chevrolet Suburban that was stretched out to 4 doors. We'd load up at the hotel, ride 100 miles to the small town, and then a couple days later ride back.

So an unrestored barn find racecar won Pebble Beach? I'll bet all those collectors who spent 2 years and untold millions restoring their classics are coming unglued. Good deal - shake up the troops!

Like that matters at all to them.

Kids of all ages and cars go together. I love going to races and seeing racers put kids behind the wheel of a REAL race car. Boy, when they get to school Monday they will have a story to tell! Helps if Mom or Dad takes photos as proof.

That is certifiably weird. I like it.

I'd drive it. If it had the six in it, it would make a great little grocery getter, parts chaser, or perfect for running errands to the bank, post office, etc.

Didn't Ford or Mercury do a couple models with basically the same amount of wood?

You don't see many Chevy Vegas either, and the last time I saw a Pontiac Astre (Vega w/ split grille and gunslit taillights) was when I dropped my old one off at a scrap yard in the early 80's.

I have an old postcard featuring the Round Door Rolls painted in gold. I've seen it in black, too. Silver doesn't seem to do it justice.

This will be received better over on The HAMB.

I have a nephew in Seattle making spare parts for all the guys in his Cougar club and his Dad's Corvette club. He can even print in metal.

At least it's still moving. Did you check the plates? Spot any SDC decals on the windows?

Larry Bowers must not have driven very long. I don't remember him at all. Wish we had better views of the car.
