  1. YE GODS!!!!!!!!!! Stupidity knows no limits.
  2. Jack Irving designed the "Sunbeam Slug" for Henry Segrave. It was the first land speed racer timed over 200 MPH, at Daytona Beach on March 29th, 1927.
  3. Just a guess.... 1948 Studebaker?
  4. Do you think the car gives a crap if the tool is vintage or spanking new? No - of course not.
  5. Oh, dear god! That thing again. I first looked at this monstrosity nearly 20 years ago. It's been on American Pickers. Multiple magazines and websites have done features on it, trying to find any real history on the beast. In 20 years, there has been no proof, zip, nada, nothing but conjecture and BS. Lots of speed historians have tried to confirm how it came to exist. There is nothing. This is someone's pipe dream that went up in smoke before it turned a tire in anger.
  6. I don't often agree with Pete, but on this subject - he's right. Buyer beware.
  7. An old T-shirt or bath towel would work better and be more appropriate.
  8. I remember seeing a GM film "Bright Star" about the Vega my sophomore year in Auto Information.... circa 1972? They showed how the cars were shipped via rail. Studebaker used to ship in rail cars, but stood on their rear bumpers.
  9. There are members of the Studebaker Drivers Club who drive 50 bulletnoses and other classic Studebakers as daily drivers.
  10. Looks like it was more like an unfortunate encounter.
  11. I suggest you make your own to fit.
  12. If you wanted something cool to hit the Sonic Drive-in, this would be it.
  13. Do not ask non-Studebaker people about this Lark. Get informed info from members of the Studebaker Drivers Club. Check over on their forum...
  14. That was a Studebaker dolled up as a Tucker that was rolled in the movie. The rest were real Tuckers, and over half had been restored by Stan Gilliland of Wellington, Kansas. Francis Ford Coppola could confirm it because Stan restored a Tucker for Mr. Coppola. If you watch the credits at the end of the movie, Stan is thanked.
  15. I became the 3rd owner of a '66 Wagonaire in 2012 and loved driving it for many years. As long as the roof was locked, it did NOT leak. The fellow I bought it from had purchased it used in 1970, and he had hunted decades for spare roof seals in case they ever cracked or leaked. He never found any, and the only time he ever got a shower down the back of his neck was after he forgot to lock the roof and the first time he stopped during a rainstorm.... SPLOOSH! He got out and locked the roof - no more water! I drove it several times in Kansas downpours and never got a drop inside because I kept it locked when it was closed.
  16. He was an all-access car lover. He even posted over on The HAMB. RIP to a giant of the hobby.
