Outstanding. You just made all the guitar players jealous with the variety of maple lumber. I see flamed maple, blistered, quilted, and some birdseye. Good choices on the timbers.

If you leave the oil pan plug out and pour fresh oil in the top, it will come out dirty. Trust me. Just changed the oil on the regular, and for sure install a new filter every time. You change your underwear after you take a shower, don't you?

Do you drive your vintage car to the store?
Studemax replied to Xander Wildeisen's topic in General Discussion
I used to drive my Studebakers to the grocery store, a doctor's appointment, even work. Never failed to elicit a smile or a positive comment. -

Lot of people have forgotten he had a life before Chevrolet. At least the Ford guys know he did Ardun heads. -
I think Facel-Vega's are pretty darn interesting.

I don't use anything but Meguiars.

I remember those. Cheap "copies" of a Ford GT-40.

Tells you all you need to know about the two drivers. They prefer applied patina (aka "a lie") versus patina which is earned.

It didn't collapse because it was old. It collapsed because the weight of the electric cars parked within exceeded the engineered weight limit. A battery powered car weighs almost twice as a much as a similar sized gasoline powered car. If a floor will hold 100 gas cars, it will collapse if you park 100 electric cars in the same spots. This isn't rocket surgery. It is a failure to think on the part of those who were responsible for the number of cars parked in the garage. Instead - money ruled the day, and destruction was the result.

Ask over on The HAMB. They'll know.

Any chance you could give us a clue and tell us which engine and what car?

Studebaker Turning Wheels magazines
Studemax replied to keiser31's topic in Studebaker, Erskine & Rockne
We tried to give them to local libraries. We tried to give them to the McPherson College Antique Auto Restoration school. I started dropping them in barbershops, to provide an alternative to copies of Field & Stream, Hot Rod, People, Better Homes & Gardens, and USA Today. -
Have you seen this electrified Buick?

So many SDC members are dying or leaving the club, TW's have become worthless. The supply has exceeded the demand in multiples. Midway Chapter used to sell them for a buck. The last years we've been giving them away by the bagful. -
I need some new files for metal; what to buy? SOLVED!
Studemax replied to Gary_Ash's topic in General Discussion
NO. You can buy camphor paper that will keep ALL your tools - files - and the rest, rust free in the toolbox. No greasy tools. -
After a quick search of images for Harry Hartz, I say yes.

Gary - you forgot one thing in your story. Tender machinist wanna-be's were also given a machinists square to check their work. It's the basic metalworking skill, and at the end of the day when it's time for inspection to check your parts, they don't care if you used a 5-axis CNC or a file as long as the part matches the print. Not bragging, but after 50 some years I'm pretty damn good at it. Hand files are my favorite hand tool, period. -

That is the company I was referencing.
