  1. Live around the corner from the museum. Will try to come. Let me know if you are in the neighborhood.
  2. I would say that it is an oil pump that is part of the front part of an engine. The small inside gear is probably driven off a worm gear that is attached to a crankshaft. n Do not recognize the engine.
  3. The best time to check the plug wires for arcing is at night with a spray bottle of water. Lightly spray the water on the wires and if you see sparks, problem probably solved.
  4. I agree with Leif for the most part on availability of parts. I would think that it is fair to say that the older the car/truck the smaller the fraternity of owners that it is good to know. I know the teens guys that I am in contact with we look for parts/ pieces for each other all the time. That said, a great group of guys to know.
  5. Prep it by sand blasting would probably be best, but make sure the surface is really clean. Then get some good primer and then the paint. If you have some time you could have it dipped & stripped if you are doing more parts and then powder coated. It all comes down to how much time and money you want to spend.
  6. Two of the most moving places that I have been is Arlington and the American Cemetery in Normandy. Those guys are real heroes along with all that served.
  7. If some of you want to get together that weekend, on one of the nights, PM me and if DD is here we can have a party. Time & place TBD. We will be at Greenfield Village on Saturday till about 5:00 and then the Eyes on Design Sunday. Just PM me with your thoughts.
  8. For those types of rusty/frozen nuts & bolts I prefer the blue flame wrench. Oxy/Acetylene.
  9. Robert, I told you that it is not that bad in Mich., especially for car guys where it is great.
  10. Agree, very nice but like you out of my price range
  11. Nice looking wheels and informative posts
  12. Anyone want to buy a tow bar, I have one for sale.
  13. I always use anti seize compound on the threads when installing plugs, especially when putting them into an aluminum head.
  14. Would the threads be long depending on the vehicle cap where you could cut them off if needed? Just a thought. Better to be extra 4 inches long than 1/16 inch short.
  15. There were 5 of these engineering vehicles made. All but this one were crushed. This vehicle is located in Flint. It was almost lost in a fire a few years ago. Here is a short article about the fire. http://abc30.com/archive/7356478/
  16. One of the most fun Buick cars that I drove besides the Grand Nationals of the 80's were the Skylark "T" types of the 83-84 vintage. I ordered them with the high output V-6's, manual transmissions, sun roof, and they were GREAT & FUN TO DRIVE. Wish I had one now.
  17. I will give Jason a personal endorsement. Does great work. He currently has one of my starters being fixed.
  18. The first thing that I would do is contact the state Department of Motor Bureau and ask them what you need to title the vehicle. If the vehicle has a VIN tag and you have a bill of sale for the vehicle you may be able to get a title with a police inspection. It depends on the state. Just call or look at the website. Lots of states transferred vehicles of that era with bill of sale only. Chances are that you will need to go to the office to explain that it is a 100 year old vehicle. Where I am at there is one person that is well versed in antique vehicles.
  19. If you use silicone, be aware that it might cause you problems if you plan on painting in the area. Generally paint shops ban any silicone in the paint area as it will cause fish eyes on the paint job.
  20. My first thought is it is for the top of a radiator cap. Just a thought
