  1. Does the car have any aftermarket anything like a theft system or remote start? If so, take it off and throw it away. I have seen dozens of these battery dead draw problems and they are usually caused by aftermarket accessories. Don't forget to look at the radio. If it is aftermarket it could also be the problem. I had one that stated on the documentation that it had something like a 500 milliamp draw (don't remember for sure but it was high)and if you did not drive the car everyday the battery would go dead. Talked to the manufacturer of the radio and they told me that that draw was normal for their radio for the memory and clock. If the car has any of that stuff, remember to fix the wires as many items of that time were installed with "scotch lock" connections and many times damaged the number of strands in the wire.
  2. The hose goes from a vacuum port probably at the base of the carb to a "thermac" thermal vacuum valve which should have two ports on it. My memory remembers a blue or green colored valve. The other side of the valve has a hose that goes to the vacuum actuator on the snorkel of the air cleaner. All of the vacuum ports are on the underside of the air cleaner. I am fairly sure this is correct for this year... just from memory. 3. Corroded battery connections? Check the voltage at the battery when trying to start. If more than 9.6 volts, not the battery. Then check between the engine block ground and the battery connection to the starter. If more than 9.6 V when cranking, then I would say bad starter, but if less, then bad cables provided the battery check out at over 9.6.
  4. Here is the tool that I use to repack wheel bearings. I have two of them. One for regular wheel bearing grease and a second one for trailers, especially boat trailers with silicone grease. http://atoztool.com/270.html E-Z Squeeze Bearing Packer - Wheel Bearing Packer Tool - EZ Squeeze

    Opel

I had one of those except it was navy blue. Great car.
  6. Just a bit of information is that Buick did not make any trucks in 1928. It is probably a car that was converted to a truck like posting #236 or it might be a GMC truck as they used Buick engines for a number of years in their trucks.
  7. By the way, we all had a great time including the Eyes on Design show at the Edsel & Elanor Ford house on Sunday. Will post some pictures when I can catch up. What I also got DD is a ride in a 1928 International Harvester oil truck from another friend of mine.
  8. That was the recommendation for all of the activities we partook in.
  9. I had a similar problem on the old truck and it ended up being a bad pass through where the coil wire goes through the distributor body to the points. Bad insulation. Fixed that and all is well with ignition now.
  10. Could the side windows be an aftermarket accessory?
  11. Not a Buick, but my wife would not let me forget that I did not buy her a Chevelle SS 40 years ago. She wanted a blue SS convertible and we ended up getting a Corvette. That is why we (she) now owns a synergy green Camaro. I just got the Buick trucks.
  12. I would also vote to keep it standard. Just make sure the parts are good, especially the brake line and rubber hoses which I would replace them all on a vehicle that old.
  13. I would get rid of the ridges if they are on the edges. I always do for modern cars so the drums will go back on easily.
  14. 1915 Buicks were designated as C series models. The D-30 series of vehicles, D-34, D-35, etc. to the best of my knowledge is for the 1917 small touring car. It has the removeable head and was also used in the 1918 year for the E-30 series like E-35, small touring and E-4 truck. I do not remember ever seeing a removeable head in 1915.
  15. Larry W, it was good to talk to you. I will try to post some pictures.
  16. Montgomery Inn ribs are the best. Used to live in Cinci and went there often. Try to stop every time we go through town.
  17. Robert, call me and we can talk. I have a converter here around the house if I can find it from 12v to 6 volt and you are welcome to try it. I plan on using it to power my GPS when touring. Also if you are clear Saturday tomorrow, come to Greenfield Village for the Motor Muster car show. It is one of the best run shows around. Then Sunday the Eyes on Design show at the Ford house in Grosse Pointe. Here are some pictures from the media preview. http://endorphin-photos.smugmug.com/Cars/EOD-2014-Press-Day
