If you doing the math on restoration, or care about you in and out values........it’s time for a new hobby........unless you collect cars in the seven figures...........just consider you money is on the roulette wheel......and you only play is OO green........... the hobby has evolved........the numbers never work anywhere, anyway. Just enjoy the ride..........

Old filters tend to be expensive, and fall apart. Causing lots of problems. Even the stuff made in the 1970’s is causing issues........swap it over to a conversion that conceals a modern cartridge.

I might have a use, but I can’t check what I need for a few days........

Question about 1930 Pierce Arrow fuel pump installation
edinmass replied to Joe Cocuzza's topic in General Discussion
Let me check.....29 was a AC Type A with the hat. 30 is a Stewart Warner.......so the pump you have may need a spacer.....let me check my notes. 👍 -
A plug out of an oil gallery is poor workmanship. All expenses related to it should be covered.

Over the weekend, by good friend borrowed my open car trailer to buy a 66 Chevy pick up. A nice old stock unit. Never been abused. On his way home, he called me from the side of the road. Said he was driving along and ran over some parts in the road. The parts.......a chunk of block, a piston, and a rod. The bad news was it came out of his truck while going down the road..........trailer is fine, but covered in oil like the 66 was also. The GMC Duramax.......is now a boat anchor.

Yup, I know the car, and the current owner, it’s still on the east coast up north. Owned buy the right guy.......who drives all his stuff. I have photos of the car in the 30’s in upstate. It was sold in Niagara Falls.

Yes, it’s a weird book.......I think they were going to put Simms info there, but didn’t have anything. I looked through my files and didn’t find one thing on them.

I checked, it was blank. Always willing to help with my library. It’s fairly extensive. 👍

Question about 1930 Pierce Arrow fuel pump installation
edinmass replied to Joe Cocuzza's topic in General Discussion
That’s a replacement pump, post a photo please. I would expect a spacer made of phenolic with steel sleeves. -
I would think those are conversion inserts.........

Question about 1930 Pierce Arrow fuel pump installation
edinmass replied to Joe Cocuzza's topic in General Discussion
The pump probably has a spacer..........depends on what you are running. A/C, Stewart, or something else? -
Only if you're implying an innuendo.

They were full kits.......family lived near Lime Rock...........they may be later but they were Buckler's........I have never seen one before. They got to the assembled and running stage, but never painted them or got the seats in. They have no interest, but plenty of storage and money.......so they probably will sit another fifty years.....

I agree you don't need that wire........here is a link that you may find helpful........if this doesn't answer all your questions, nothing will. Parts diagrams are at the bottom, and very helpful. https://oldcroak.com/bosch-du1-du2-du4-du6-early-pre-ww1/

What's The Slowest Car You've Owned? Did You Enjoy It?
edinmass replied to 58L-Y8's topic in General Discussion
As far as "slow" cars are concerned. Back in the 30's and 40's most VMCCA and AACA meets had the slowest car contest to cross the field.......sometimes passengers would hold a tray with champigne while the cars were driven over sand bags......all while going at less than a walking pace. Car events sure have changed. We won't mention the balance table......... -
Here is the published information on the 1917. Not much compared to other years. Notice it has an additional component tied in with the magneto and may be why something is jumped or bypassed. 12 volt car......interesting. Not much published on Simms........but they are so basic that it shouldn't be any trouble.

1941 Willys Coupe Historic Drag Car
edinmass replied to alsancle's topic in "Not Mine" Automobiles For Sale
Ask your wife.....she will agree with me....you're too old. Besides your hearing aids and false teeth will rattle out of your head from the vibration. I expect the road kill you call a toupee is glued on with 3 M super adhesive? So that will probably stay in place. Be sure to bring extra depends. -
1941 Willys Coupe Historic Drag Car
edinmass replied to alsancle's topic in "Not Mine" Automobiles For Sale
Fun car......but tiny. Notice the gas pedal on the oppisite side of the transmission tunnel. It sure would be fun to launch it a few times.......but we are al getting too old for it.... -
Modifying an exhaust system is a violation of the clean air act.......and big brother is getting very active on ANY car, truck, or motorcycle that is OBDII and they have no sense of humor. They have been making examples of them lately. Also, today's exhaust systems will easily go 250k and more......no incentive for an expensive piece of equipment that takes up space. Also, your average under car tech can't weld, nevermind get a system to fit properly and weld on hangers....... Midas mechanics are unusually gifted at fabricating the dual exhaust systems used on the new Tesla's. 😏
