  1. Nope...sober as a church mouse........try this one........
  2. Do NOT put radial tires on the Cadillac factory rims..........they are failing at large rates with bias plys on them. The radial will spit snap rings.....both type A & B. Make new drop center wheels if you want to run radials......which I still would not do........the kick shackle will have problems and will require modifications also........
  3. It's the season, where we get to spend quality time with our family, friends, and loved ones.......weather or not we want too............so here is a little something to bring a smile to you face, which I thought was well done......enjoy, and post your own items that bring you joy and a smile. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year.
  4. Here is the magneto..........it’s set up for eight plugs, look close and you can see the special cap and controls.
  5. Car is not at my place. Cant get photos for a few weeks. It has a totally different platform than anyone has seen, except for one other car. No distributor........It’s a Delco magneto twin spark dual.....meaning it has two spark plugs per cylinder .......and when on battery the magneto acts as a timer......thus its way out in left field, running a battery coil over ignition to start, and then runs on the magneto when going down the road. The magneto acts as a distributor while cranking. Also, the car has a pressurized fuel tank delivery system.....not gravity, and not a vacuum tank. There is no published information on the wiring diagram, nothing on the ignition system, basically it’s a test platform. I’m still going over it from a functional standpoint......but simply put, there is nothing published on the thing. Since the thing is such an odd ball........it appeals to me even more. 👍
  6. Unless you have one of the 10 reproductions, that carburetor is not safe to run, the car WILL burn if it's the pot metal unit. Run a Stromberg UUR2.
  7. Bob, AJ will get it sorted out. Funny how “it’s just an old car” as many people say.........but making them right can be challenging for anyone. The Cord he is working on can make you want to jump off the roof.
  8. It just slips in. Don’t use any sealer on the gaskets. And be careful about tightening the bolts evenly or the pump casting will fracture. Also, no Teflon tape on the car anywhere. Thread sealer is fine in small amounts. Over tighten the fittings and the casting will split. Use a light touch. Also, the car should have an electric pump installed to prime and push through vapor lock. Back by the tank. I can walk you through that one after you have it running.👍
  9. You would.......I’m gonna bring my helper along when I come up and fix it........here are current photos of myself and Phil, “With the hands like George the Animal Steel”.
  10. I will take the Cord off your hands for fifty cents on the dollar for what Big Al paid for it back in the 50’s. That’s cash, no inspection necessary.
  11. Here is a before and after photo of AJ’s and Big Al’s car that I serviced for them last year. Phil and I got it done from start to finish in under 15 billable hours. Naturally, AJ complained about the price........I thought 432 dollars was fair. Big Al picked out the paint and wheels. He told me the real reason for the “look” is it’s the only way the ladies will talk to AJ at stop lights. I think it turned out pretty nice. Guys in the first photo with AJ are from his golf club. Don’t worry, this one runs and shifts fine.......😎 “I see said the blind man picking up his hammer and saw, You do said the deaf mute?; while the man with no legs got up and walked away........”
  12. After 18 months of working on it..........you should probably hire an engineer to help you. Shit, I forgot you ARE an engineer! 🤣 These little problems separate the men from the boys. When blood starts coming out your eyes, it’s time for a a little bit of help. I suppose I’m going to have to come up and fix it for you........it’s a three hour flight and one and a half hours ride to get to the car for a ten minute fix........... so it’s not a very efficient use of my time. You have anything else broken to help make the trip more productive? 🤔 Maybe we can fix the goat problem you have been experiencing for the last five years, I’ll bring my cook book. 🤤 OK, so you asked for a reasonable suggestion.......send it to me here, I’ll fix it and drive the wheels off of it. It’s obvious to me the gosinta and the gosoutta are crossed.........
  13. I’ll take credit for bringing it to Steve’s attention. Steve generously responded for me to call him tomorrow(due to the road trip), and he would take my renewal over the phone, with the additional thank you gift of a bottle of Crown Royal. You can bet I will be calling him first thing in the morning.......🥸
  14. Checked it today, with that pump and arm, no spacer needed.......👍👍
  15. Since the mid 1970's cars are tuned not for maximum fuel milage, but NOx and HC reduction. As a point of fact, if you tune a 1980 Chevy car to pass emissions it will get about 1mpg less than if you tuned it for performance.
  16. Dave, it you didn't fix it, I would be on SSI by the time it was finished! 👍
  17. Most of the time they have a bunch of cracks. We did one with 67 inches of stitching by the time we were done. It's still fine 20 years later. There were lots of defective blocks new, and most had repairs done at the factory......
  18. That engine is more than 65k....lots of junk in it, and lots of details...........hell, you will spend 5 grand stitching it.
  19. Too far gone........usually a car such as this would have been hidden away, sold quietly with no photos posted, and show up much nicer than it is now........with additional paint, ect........but still "untouched" by the new owners definition. Whenever you see a preservation car, the only question is is it had restored or 75 percent restored. I have seen it several times in person.
  20. The real story is such stupid overpaid people actually run for office, and they actually get coverage in the press.
