  1. This might be confused with TRILIN which was a taillight brand shared by model L Lincoln, Springfield Rolls Royce, Marmon and I think Franklin. They are not the same.
  2. Weld a 1/8 plate over the hole? Use Cronatron 333 welding rod (rated for dissimilar metals) from Lawson. https://www.lawsonproducts.com/Cronatron/333-Dissimilar-Steel-Stick-Rod-Electrode/CW1049.lp
  3. Watson and Gabriel Stabilizers were used on a number of vehicles of the 1920's. This happens to be for a Packard.
  4. My first choice would be copper with a smear of sealer. Hard Fiber should be acceptable.
  5. As Rusty_OToole hints, it maybe as simple as find the procedure for an aftermarket assembly, Timken as an example. The adjustment between ring and pinion is critical, Backlash.
  6. Snubber Strap Clamp. This is the clamp that pinches the strap together on itself after it loops through the axle pin. Need two.
  7. pint4, Yes I have one. check your message inbox.
  8. I think there is a long pin at the bottom of the float that must be aligned into the bottom of the inner tank. If not aligned, it could easily get stuck in the high position.
  9. When you hear it click meaning the float has risen to a point where it should be shutting off the vacuum (not drawing fuel from the tank) and releasing the fuel into the main part of the tank and on to the carb. If the flapper gasket is not working properly, the vacuum in the inner chamber (tank) is also trying to draw fuel into the inner chamber which it should not. That is defeating the purpose. Check that you don't have a vacuum leak in the lid assembly. (crack in the top tank assembly, etc. Are you sure there is vacuum present on the fuel line (from the tank)? Run the vehicle by priming the tank the way you've done and check for vacuum sufficient to draw fuel from the tank. StewartWarnerVacuumTank2-11-27.pdf
  10. My educated guess is the Durable type of snap fastener for a convertible top boot cover.
  11. Restoration Supply in Escondido, CA also carries an Alemite grease gun adapter, part number LUB071 for $35
  12. This article maybe of help for the DIY: http://www.secondchancegarage.com/public4/gas-tank-cleaning-1.cfm
  13. Powder coat is polyester powder that is melted on at 425 degrees. As the shoes make contact, the heat produced will melt the poly and get into the shoe and render it useless. Sand the contact area to get back to raw metal. Turning them also works.
  14. I guess there are two 3D options to consider: 1) 3D print a pattern in plastic and cast in lost wax method and 2) direct 3D printing which is improving in quality each year.
  15. Welcome Overkill. As already mentioned, this Forum is a two way street, asking questions and responding with areas that you have knowledge on. We have folks who do casting, machining, paint and even a few doing trimming (trade name for upholstery). The strength in this Forum is in sharing. Pics help a lot.
  16. The cut out relay is used to make the connection between the generator and the storage battery. Without it, the battery would constantly try to spin the generator when the engine is off, thus draining the battery. There is no regulation with a cut out type system, just make or break the connection. When the generator spins fast enough (higher engine RPM) the generator's output reaches about 7-8 volts and is enough to pull the contacts closed. When the generator's RPM slows the spring tension of the cutout opens the contacts. Check the spring tension on the cutout contacts, you might be able to bend the brass tab slightly to make it more sensitive. Its possible the generator's output has weakened over the years and will not generate enough to engage the cutout. There are many reasons for this including the generator's field coils are partially shorted. if you manually hold down the cutout contacts and the output is satisfactory (say 10-12 amps), then the generator is likely OK. If the output is low (say 3-4 amps), consider having the generator inspected by a shop.
  17. L Cars restoration shop in Wisconsin offers to make Custom Hidem and Wire-On trim using your material. This ensures an exact color and texture match for your project. http://lcars.com/pages/upholstery.php Cory Cook L Cars, Inc 110 W. Poplar Avenue Cameron, WI 54882 Phone (715) 520-3776 If not that critical for matching, consider Lebaron Bonney in Mass.
  18. I was thinking this might be a grounding type switch. As the reverse lever is slid into position, the internal shaft might make contact with a stiff wire and complete the circuit.
  19. This is exactly the response I wanted. Many Thanks. it confirms my suspicion that there are snaps on the back edge to mount the boot cover. The top on the current project vehicle has no snaps.
  20. 1. There used to be a website www.Old-Carburetors.com That had a bunch of info. The chap that ran that site didn't maintain it, but I think he still has the files in .pdf format. I believe he used Dykes Auto Encyclopedia series as a source. Look for the 19th edition, published circa 1943. There may be an earlier edition to cover the '32 Packard. The 15th edition is 1927 which is too early for you. 2. Possibly contact AACA Library and maybe they could scan the relevant pages. 3. Contact other folks who purchased this carb and compare notes with them. 4. Verify float level.
  21. Try http://www.then-now-auto.com/ You may have to resort to using generic pull springs and modify them. The Duo-mite bender is a good tool to making small radius bends in metals and heavy wire (like springs). http://www.secondchancegarage.com/public4/metal-bender-1.cfm I have an article on adjusting the Bendix 3 shoe system. PM me.
  22. Bringing this to the top. Can someone post a picture of the rear edge of the convertible top, original if possible. The top on this project car has had the top replaced at one point in its life and suspect its wrong. Ideally I'd like to have someone post a pic with the top in the up position and another pic of the underside of the rear showing the snaps and body.
  23. I can recommend Grove Radiator in Neptune, NJ (Central NJ). http://groveradiator.com/ Don't let the photo on their website mislead you. They can perform delicate work.
  24. Perhaps search under the terms CNC Machining and Hog Out. There seems to be a bunch of them, specializing in low quantity like 1-2 pieces. This actually might be the better way versus sand casting.
