  1. Thanks Don - That may be the problem but I wouldn't know if that was the case. I went to the guy I know that does all kinds of foreign and older US cars. Unfortunately he does not do alignments. He sent me to another older guy that he sends his cars too. The fenders on the 38 will not allow the machine to be hooked up. I offered to take the fender off but he said the machine would not have the proper specs and I need to find an older machine. He also said it requires a very lucky try to do it with out a machine. I am not a lucky guy in general. Time to do more research. dave s
  2. Thanks. Time will tell as to condition of bearings, springs, shocks and shims. I’ve got braces on both legs so I try to do all the research before getting under the car. I even try to have all possible tools as it is difficult to keep getting up and down. Thanks to C19 my business is closed so I have more time now but the old body just doesn’t want to cooperate as much as it use to. I will check it all out today and talk to the one shop that may beagle to help. I will post results so as to not leave anyone hanging after trying to help me. Thanks again. dave s
  3. Great looking car. I’m taking it to the one guy in town that may be able to do the alignment. I’ll keep everyone posted as to results dave s
  4. The whole left side will be checked over by the time I’m finished. I don’t feel anything out of line when driving it either at speed or just around town. I appreciate all of these suggestions and willlet you all know the results. dave s
  5. Don I agree, the problem is finding a shop that will have any idea how a38 should be aligned. I know one guy that may be able to help and plan to call him tomorrow. I will post the results. dave s
  6. Thank you. I got a copy of the pages from another Studebaker owner about 20 minutes ago. Great minds on the same channel, I appreciate it. Ow all I have to do is understand all of it and figure out how to measure it. I was told the most g pins may be adjusted y shims. I’ll do more research and post results. Thanks again dave s
  7. Thanks I’ll see if there are any there now. Hopefully the left side will show me some I can compare too. dave s
  8. I will have to check the all the parts out. I was told the front suspension was rebuilt before I bought it but you know how truthful that can be. Tomorrow should allow time to check and I will post what I find Thanks dave s
  9. I posted this on Studebaker forum also, I’ve tried searching with no luck. So posted here. I’m looking for info on how to adjust the suspension. My left front tire is worn out after 5000 miles and the right front is fine. Both bought at same time. The inside seems more worn than the outside. Is it as simple as lengthening the control arm or would I tighten it? Is it something else? Any help would be appreciated. dave s

  12. I worry if I bought all the tools I THINK I would want the garage would be so full the car would have to be parked in the drive!
  13. Joe the forum I was talking about is here on the AACA site. This is the “General” forum. There are specific forums for different makes. Go to the Home site then forums and scroll down until you find Studebaker good luck Firgot to say welcome before too!
  14. It looks good, someone knew what they were doing, it can't be easy fitting some of those bends and joints. Maybe Cadillac should have made a production woodie.
  15. Check the STUDEBAKER forum. I think you will get better results. Robert Kaplin (sp?) has a large parts supply in Joliet Illinois and is a frequent poster in that forum. Good luck
  16. The other day I was following a farmer that could have used one of these. He had some pigs in the back of his pickup and when he took off from a stop light one fell out. I was in my wife's car so I stopped, picked it up and took off to catch the farmer. About 2 or 3 blocks later a cop pulled up behind me with his lights on and told me to pull over. When he came up to the car and said I was speeding I explained why and he let me go. He said don't speed and to just take the pig to the local petting zoo just up the road. The next day I'm driving down the same road and the same cop pulls me over. I told him there was no way I was speeding and he agreed. He said he pulled me over because he had told me to take the pig to the petting zoo and wanted to know why it was still in my car? I told him I did take it to the zoo and we had such a good time we were going back today!. I know I'm nuts but I do have fun and I blame it all of C19!
  17. Not to be a smart ass but why go to all that bother when a simple google search finds a whole lot of options In less than a second?
  18. Kennedy wasn't just rich and stupid he was arrogant beyond belief. He had at least six stirikes against him before he even got in the plane. Thats basically being out twice in baseball. When I was getting my private license my instructor always said if you have 1 concern you better really think about going up that day. If you have 2 you are really pushing it and 3 means you are going to cause some problem you may not survive so stay on the ground until you resolve all of them. Kennedy had six known problems he didn't even come close to resolving. 1. He had a cast on his foot. 2. His wife and sister in law were late so he was frustrated. 3. His instructor told him weather was coming in and he would be happy to go along to the island and then fly back to get them home. He refused and said he could handle it. 4. His wife hated to fly in a small private plane - preferred first class jombo jets. 5. His weather report was 2 hours old - he didn't pull a new one after his wife arrived. 6. His instructor advised him to fly the coast then when he saw the island make the turn instaed of a direct over the water flight, he ignored it. I suspect this kid has that same arrogant attitude. dave s

  20. Sometimes you have all the wrenches and devices and gagets possible and you think all you need is a BIGGER hammer but it is better to use more brain power.and ingenuity. If that doesn't resolve it find that hammer.
  21. Bravery! Call a spade a spade! It’s plain stupidity. At least they are going digital first. But the print version going to run into paper cost increases if they can even get it being a. new customer, mail delivery problems which cause major missing issue claims and additional mailing cost. Advertisers that will delay payments as long as absolutely possible. I’ve seen more pubs go down the tube In the last 9 months than In the previous 5 years. My 45 year old circulation fulfillment company is closed due to C19 magazines closings. If this last 4 issues I will be very surprised. leave s
  22. I would bet those cans do not meet AACA eligibility rules They should have use cans from C-rations from WW II like we were served in 67/68. We use to heat them up on the exhaust manifolds. You had to put a small opening in the top of the can or they would explode. Always fun to watch a newbie that didn’t know that!
