  1. Those are hard to find.. Don`t know if American Arrow Corp./ Don Sommers is still in business, but they did make a SS `36 ornament. Maybe some other member will confirm..
  2. I have two Buick inline 8s I rebuilt, a `36 233 engine and a `41 dual carb 248, all three of the heat risers were froze in place. I first looked at the flapper and noticed it was closer to one side(all three), so instead of trying to turn the flapper, I applied pressure to the end of the shaft to move it sideways, that`s all it took, all three came loose. All three of the flappers of my manifolds have about a 3/32" sideways movement..
  3. I can`t help with your question., but I knew a Dennis Jones in V-4 division on the USS Midway(69-71), could that possibly be you?
  4. Oh yeah, I do plan to change the bulbs to 12v, if I ever get this car back together..
  5. Al, I just checked the bulbs, guess I never changed them, they are 6-8v, may not be as bright with 12v bulb.. Tom
  6. Al T, attached is a picture of my cluster lit up in the dark with 2-12v bulbs.. When I rebuilt my cluster I did away with the yellow/cream, painted mine silver metallic. Originally no dimmer, I`m using a later model light switch with reostat..
  7. Timing hole/cover is located just above the starter. Turn the distributor clockwise to advance.
  8. Rings might be stuck to the cylinder wall from cleaning pistons. Stuff/cleaning fluid/moisture seeping down between piston and cylinder when cleaning?
  9. You stated you smoked the starter.. Could the starter bendix be hung in the flywheel?
  10. MrEarl, 1942 Roadmaster is my guess.. San Francisco? I roamed those streets in the 60s, Navy days..
  11. Big Buick(?) sedan on the street, top left corner, and Buick(?) making right hand turn, kinda hidden by the far woodie. I count 4 woodies with a split/two piece rear bumper. Which make had that bumper? Would be a lot easier if front ends were visable..
  12. What Ben said... also it`s under the spark plug cover.. To test, I`ve always used a pan of boiling water..
  13. Ebay item 112720931945 for the wires. On the vac. adv., remove vac line from carb and apply suction, breaker plate should rotate. Also if the 3 pivot balls and/or groove are worn or dirty the breaker plate may not reach full advance. Delco makes an update kit with plastic pivots to solve the worn groove problem..
  14. That`s the ground wire at the 6 0clock position. The oil could be from too much grease pumped in thru the zerk.. another problem could be the three pivot bearings, if worn, could also effect the breaker plate movement and timing. Have you checked the vac. advance?
  15. I sent a 150lb crate of Buick rear end parts to Amsterdam. UPS, HDL, and FedEx all quoted a price in the $1500-$1700 range. I checked out IPS(International Parcel Service), they quoted a price close to $500, so that`s who I went with, did it all on line, they emailed me shipping labels, directions and such, with instructions to drop off at local FedEx. HUH? WHAT? Take it where? To the same place that quoted me a price 3x higher. I dropped the crate off at FedEx on Thursday morning in Sherman, Tx., Fri. morning crate was in Memphis, Tn., Sunday morning crate was at Charles DeGaulle Airport in Paris, France, Tuesday at customs in the Netherlands, and delivered to the buyer on Friday. Buyer was shocked, he expected it to take 3mo., and got it in 9days.. Shipping across the pond? IPS, in my opinion, is the best..
  16. The hesitation/bog when cracking the throttle make me think: power valve or accelerator pump in the carb., not working, and possibly a bad vacuum advance. By your description of the carb, it`s probably due a freshing-up.
  17. All that soot, sounds like the carburetor needs attention/rebuilt..flooding.
  18. There is another way to tell what WCD you have. On the bottom flat gasket surface, clean real good and you should find a 3digit number. Jon (carbking) AACA member can tell you exactly what you have, he also has the ethanol friendly rebuild kits.
  19. That could be a question that you may not get an answer to..
  20. Guess she wants her "Jerry beads"..
  21. Bill, I had a heck of a time locating the four rear shackles for my `36 Buick 40 series, which are probably different from the Roadmaster, but I was able to find a set. You might check with Nelson Pease in Palmer, Ma. 413 283 7620 Best time to call is Sat. morning 8am eastern time, he is open 8am till noon on Saturdays, one man operation, he deals in mechanical parts. He is open during the week days, I found it easiest to call him on Saturday morning. Nelson is great to do business with, if he has what you need he sends it with invoice, then you send him a check. Rare Parts in Stockton, Calif. shows to have the "rear forward leaf spring bolt kit" in stock..
  22. 1936 Buick grille ebay item 332874068132
  23. Ben, I know, doesn`t mention anything about drive train and parts or title that may be with it, not even what kinda boat he expects. It doesn`t look that bad, but what has been done to this point? Glass looks to possibly be new..
