  1. Is that a `59 Cadillac just over the top of the green `58 Ford?
  2. Emiliano, good to hear you found trunk hinges and water pump repair. On the lower A-arm/spindle there is a tapered lock pin(no nut or bolt), to remove tapered pin use a punch and hammer, I`m not sure which direction pin was installed but would be removed in the opposite direction. If you look closely at each end you might be able to see a flat spot on one end(top) and the other end should be round, drive the pin out hitting the end with the flat spot. Once the lock pin is removed then the lower pivot pin can be removed. The upper and lower pivot pin and bushing kits are something I`ve never found, if yours are worn out you`ll probably have to have a machinest make new ones.. Good Luck, Tom
  3. It does have an oil pump which supplies oil to the main bearings, rocker assembly and dash oil gauge. Only the rods are on the dippers.. It also has solid lifters, valves(rocker arms) may need to be adjusted..
  4. To me a car becomes a hot rod when the original drive train has been replaced with a modern day drive train. Other minor changes: carb,. 12v system, tires/rims..Not..
  5. Super beetles have a curved windshield, not a flat windshield like all other beetles..
  6. Tony, what have you got for front suspension 1936 Buick 40 series? Inner lower control arm shafts and bushings? Outer upper/lower pivot pins/bushings kits? Any help? Tom
  7. Seller didn`t have the exclamation points where it really mattered. $89,995!!!!!! And "only" $1010/mo.!!!!!!!
  8. Newby, you might Google "100% gas and area code" to find a nearby station in your area without Ethanol, still unleaded. Chevys didn`t have ball-joints until 1955. The `47 has king-pins and link-pins and knee-action shocks on the front suspension. Chevsofthe40s has just about everything for your car.. Also get yourself a shop manual for that year..
  9. Wilf, do you know if Oldsmobile or Cadillac used the same latch as Buick. If you`ll post a few more pictures different angles, both sides and end. I could check a few salvage yards to see if I could locate one.. Tom
  10. Beats me, I`ve never seen one like it. Is not an original for the `36. The original radio head is vertical and mounts in the center of the dash trim below the map light, some `36s have a delete plate with "BUICK" on it and some have an ash trey in place of where the radio head mounts.
  11. Anyone know/recommend someone who reproduces `34 Buick 50 series hood side trim in stainless steel?
  12. My newest vehicle is a `82 S-10 I bought new in Dec. `81, almost 900,000mi and I can fix it at the side of the road if need be, don`t have to take to someone to hook up a computer to it to charge and tell me what`s wrong, and I can fix anything on it for less than one months payment on a new vehicle, I haven`t had a car payment since 1984. I don`t even have a cell phone, wouldn`t even know how to turn one on. Just barely know how to use a personal computer. I guess I just don`t know what I`m missing. To me the best invention ever is "Pay at the pump".. Hope all you people with these new-fangled-contraptions have a nice day..
  13. I have a Harrison heater that came with my `36 Buick coupe, which must have been for a Chevy(had Chevrolet on the heater door pulls which I belt sanded smooth) but it fit the exact knock-out holes in the firewall that was for the Buick heater, even my new firewall pad has matching holes..
  14. I did the same thing with my first car, a `47 Chevy which my brother bought from me back in the `70s, and he still gives me hell about it. Dave Tacheny might have one, body number won`t match but trim and paint codes might. I don`t know of anyone reproducing that tag(might check Hemmings) but if so your numbers could be added, except your body number, looks like it is gone. Nice looking Pontiac..
  15. Bobs Automobilia sells reduction gear starters for straight 8s they are all 12volt. Starter with solenoid, no core required $310...
  16. One easy way is to measure the wheelbase(center of front wheel to center of rear wheel. 40 series 118", 60 series 122", 80 series 131", and 90 series 138".. All series use the same front grille, the larger series has a longer hood than the 40 series, each series has different length running boards, all use the same hub-caps but large series wheels(rims) are different size from the 40 series, and I think the dash and insturments are the same, some speedometers go up to 110mph, I think the 40 series is 100mph. Large series interior door handles and window cranks are a little different in detail than the 40 series. Tail lights are the same except the lens is different on the larger series. Also the cowel tag will state which series and model. I think I`m correct on these statements, if not, someone will correct me..
  17. Hutch, actually you have the "small" Buick for `36, the 40 series with the small 233cu in engine. The 3 larger series have a 320cu in engine and longer wheelbases..
  18. If you haven`t done it and no telling if it`s ever been done, the rocker arms may need to be adjusted.
  19. Bill, welcome. What series? Not sure what you mean exactly on weatherstrip, bushings(?).. Steele Rubber is a source for weatherstripping, vent window seals, window channeling and such. `36 is a year of its own, very few if any other year parts fit `36 and are kinda hard to find. Dave Tacheny is a good source for used parts 763 427 3460 5-7pm central time M-F. Is yours a solid car or rotted wood? Post some pictures, we like pictures. What kind of Pontiacs? I`m a `35 Pontiac kinda guy myself. If you`d like a good read on a `37 Buick restoration go to Pre-War section, Gary W (1937 Buick Model 48: Restoration Has Begun!) His story is on pg2 at this time. Tom
  20. You might call and ask Dave Tacheny 763 427 3460 5-7pm central time Mon-Fri.
  21. I kinda like the door knob with the keys..
  22. Newbie, try Dave Tacheny 763 427 3460 5-7pm central time Mon-Fri..
