  1. Thanks for the input.... I'm leaning towards trying to keep the original tank on the car.... solid car overall, but I'll know more once the tank is removed... Steve
  2. I'm getting ready to pull the gas tank off of my '69 Impala SS, just curious of the type of tank sealer that the membership has used with good results. I was told that it would be a good idea to have the tank "boil" at a radiator shop prior to sealing it.... Any suggestion / input is appreciated, first time doing this.... Thanks !
  3. Parts for my 1969 Chevrolet Impala SS that I'm restoring....I also started looking on those Facebook groups as well.... Steve
  4. Other than ebay or craigslist, what other web sites do the membership use for searching for vintage used or NOS parts from ? Thanks
  5. Rhinebeck ? Thanks for the information ! I'll have to take a ride up there on Sunday.
  6. Just out of curiosity, how many of the membership here still own the first vehicle that they purchased ? I still have mine that I purchased new right off the Chevrolet Dealership lot back in 1986, granted, it's not a classic like some of my other vehicles that I own, but I've had it now for 33 years ... kind of special to me.... Dad help me with the purchase and co-sign on the bank loan. Let's see them......
  7. I went with the Atlas 4 - Post Lift model 8000 a few years ago. It came with the casters and drip pans - I ended up purchasing additional drip pans to cover the entire length of the ramp. So far , it's been great ! Also when I purchased the lift, the manufacturer gave me a name of a installer that would pick up the unit at the distribution center, deliver and install the unit - best decision I made !
  8. I'm in the process of restoring my '69 Impala SS 427. Since acquiring the car, I've been using a "fogging oil' spray - I remove the spark plugs, spray the oil then manually turn over the engine by hand. I should point out the the engine is non-operational at this time ( carburetor was removed ) Is there anything else that I should be doing to keep the engine properly lubricated or is the fogging oil sufficient ? Thanks
  9. Good subject..... I've been using Stabil over 30 years in my cars and small engines as well ( mowers, generators, leaf blowers etc. ) I normally fill up the tank, add the required amount of Stabil and run the engines for 20 to 30 mins. I normally do this towards the end of November and then I'll start the engines during the winter months - once or twice per month ( I also run the A/C and heater as well ) . Normally by end of March or the beginning of April - depending on road conditions, I'm back in business.. - never had an issue. I just recently started to use Seafoam on my daily driver to keep the injectors clean - vehicle has over 80,000 miles on it. So I'm new to the Seaform... a friend of mine been using it for years and likes it as well.
  10. I like it....this could be the stablemate to my SS Monte !
  11. I was able to take a photo a few years ago where I purchased my '86 Monte Carlo from, "Rhinebeck Garage", in Rhinebeck, New York... it was one of the oldest Chevrolet Dealerships in Dutchess County. The building was sold and divided up into smaller stores.
  12. I had to watch it again.....just to see what I missed the first time. I just like the fact that it's just not only one marque of automobiles.... just wow !!
  13. Just watched Tom Cotter's Barn Find Hunter, episode 46. 37 mins long and it was just unbelievable !! You will enjoy it !
  14. I figure that I would put the old truck to use in picking up our xmas tree today ... picture are 3 of my 4 children, my daughter is currently serving in the Navy. Steve
  15. John - is that a Impala or Biscayne model ?
  16. I've been restoring my 1969 Chevrolet Impala SS over the past few years and I decide to have a authentic Window Sticker produced. When I purchased the vehicle, it came with a folder with a paper trail of information / documents, such as the "Car Shipper" invoice , "Protect-O-Plate" and some repair invoices as well. The gentleman that is making the window sticker for me asked about any information that I may have for the Impala, which I did and scanned it for him. He got back to me, wanted to know if the salesman's name was listed anywhere, I told him no. So, he mention that the name on the P-O-P was listed in the White Pages out in Kansas. I figured that it was a long shot, but I gave it a try. I tried yesterday a few times with no answer. Today, second ring and he picked up. He could not believe it, but after I explain myself and gave him details about the Impala, he opened up to me.... he purchased the Impala in January 1969 when he was 19 years old and drove it for the next 25 years before selling it in 1994. He used to drive it 90 miles a day to a community college.... he wanted to know if the Impala will be worth anything once it's restored...lol. He had no idea of what today's values are ( he has no computer or phone, just a cell phone ) Very nice guy, I plan to mail him some photos of the Impala and I promise him that I will keep in touch with updates on the progress of the restoration.. Oh, almost 50 years ago and he still remember the name of the salesman ! This made my day !! Steve
  17. Leaves are falling here in the Hudson Valley Region of New York...... My 1969 Chevrolet C20 Custom Camper.
  18. Beautiful car..... keep it! Not too many people have the opportunity to own a vehicle that had one owner AND you know who they are. Take the winter months to go over the vehicle ( maintenance / cleaning ) you'll appreciate the vehicle that you have there and you will be ready to cruise in it next spring ! Steve
  19. Hey John, that looks very familiar ! I grew up across the river from West Point ( Cold Spring ) I live about 20 mins north from there now.... beautiful area and a lot of history ! Steve
