  1. Just wanted to take a moment to remind people on the 15th Anniversary of 9-11 to "Never Forget"...... I'm a collector car enthusiast, but also a Ex-Fire Chief here in New York. Thank you !
  2. Failed to mention that the structure was up in one day....second day the windows and siding went up....
  3. Great thread.... Here is my garage that I had put up about 5 years ago...I wanted a over-sized two car garage, started to get estimates and the highest one came in at $103,000 ! That was for a stick- built garage, I ended up going with a pre-fab garage instead. Cost of the garage itself was $28,000 ( $2000 of that was transportation / bridge crossing ), excavating cost $0, ( my friend did it , just had to keep his tractor filled with gas ) foundation cost $4300 and electrical cost $4500. If there was anything that I would have change would be the access to the loft. It currently has a pull down attic ladder, I want to eventually put a exterior staircase to gain access to the loft. As you can see from the last photo, three vehicles were tight, so I added a 4 post lift as of last year.
  4. Beautiful..... I would say that it cleaned up very nice ! Steve
  5. I was thinking more towards my every day driver ( '04 Sierra ), even though he had a '70 Plymouth 340 Duster on a lift. The owner did mention that he see's a lot of newer vehicles ( about a year old ) coming into his shop. Cost, about $2500 to do my truck... that includes grinding the entire frame rails, all suspension parts, cross beams etc....if there is any rot / metal repair needed, that would be extra. 100% rust free for 250,000 miles is the claim..... I don't know, my truck is 12 years old with 60K miles on it, I'm sure if I went out and purchase a new GMC for $45K , I'll have the same issues within a few years.
  6. My mistake.....seems to be here in New York only, www.Rustoration.com. I spoke with the owner, interesting corrosion-preventive material.
  7. A certified dealer for this product has recently open in our area. Just out of curiosity, has any member used this service in their home town ? Thanks
  8. I had the same issue when I logged in earlier today..... ran the scan, issue is gone now. Steve
  9. Wow... 20K, can't wait to hear the story on that piece of GM history ! Steve
  10. Looks to be very interesting..... I'll be tuning in! - Nice Olds Delta convertible Steve!
  11. Thanks for all of the replies, I appreciate it. Steve
  12. The building has good ventilation... once I complete the insulation, I might have to look into more.... what's the purpose of the lumber Wayne ? Thanks
  13. I have been lucky regarding the mice, I was concern with possible moisture from the cement floor....
  14. Guys - I have a question regarding the storage of my classics.... my cars are in a detached garage that I had built about 5 years ago, ( stick built, block foundation, cement floor). There is no heat and the insulation was not completed ( on my to do list ) , is it OK to park the vehicles directly on the cement floor, or should there be some type of barrier between the vehicles and the floor ( I've heard everything from carpet to plywood ) . I'm located in the Northeast. Thanks
  15. Martin - Your doing a great job! My first restoration took me 14 years to complete ( marriage, kids, job etc... you know story ) I promised myself that was it, never again... BUT, it must be some type of sickness, because I decided to do another one, picked up a document '69 Impala SS last December. I read over your thread last night, definitely motivating to say the least, I'm really joying it! Steve
  16. Guys, I'm looking for any input / suggestions regarding patch repairing the rear quarters on my '69 Impala SS. The individual that I originally had is just too busy with work and there is no time frame on when he will get to it. So I'm looking for any members in the Hudson Valley Region of NY ( Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania as well ) that can do this type of work or recommend someone in the area. I have NOS quarter panels from a '69 Chevrolet sedan that can be used for the patch work... The Impala is not register and inoperable, so it will need to be towed, or the work can be done in my garage as well. Thanks!
  17. I totally agree what Wayne mention - watch your vehicle! I been to the Hemmings Concours at Stratton Mountain and Saratoga Springs over the past few years. I was invited to participate in the 2010 Concours at Stratton with my Frost Green '69 and the family and I had a great time. I participated the following year with my newly restored Black Impala at the Saturday Cruise in and it ended in heartbreak. The vehicle was on an open trailer, upon checking out of the hotel the follow morning, I found that someone went down the rear quarter panel and trunk lid and scratch it.... lesson learn ! Now I don't leave my vehicles and if I trailer them to a weekend outing, it will be a enclosed trailer. Steve
  18. Countrytravler - Does that Fathom Green Biscayne belong to you ? Steve
