  1. It's unfortunate that issues like this can happen... I learned the hard way.... I spent 14 years ( when time & money was available ) restoring my '69 Chevrolet. There was a big Concours Car Show event up in Vermont that summer, my wife and I decided it would be a great to take the Chevrolet to it's first show. Due to the distance, we decided to rent a open car trailer and stay over night. The Saturday show was great, had a lot of people coming up to me and asking questions about the car and thanking me for bringing the car to the show - it made me feel great ! After the show, I loaded the car back on the trailer and parked it in the designated parking area for car trailers only. The following day while checking all the tie down straps before making our trip back home, I noticed that someone went down the entire drivers side quarter panel and over the trunk lid with their hand... a hand that had a ring / wedding band attached.... needless to say, the person scratch the clear coat. Talk about being heart broken... this happen 3 years ago, I took care of the scratches and I continued to take the car to some of the local car shows in my area to this day. I would be lying to say that I got over it, it still bothers me that someone would be so inconsiderate of someone else's property , now I never leave any of my vehicles unattended!
  2. The asking price of $26,500 seem too high or is it in the ball park for the condition / mileage ? Thanks
  3. I seen this posted over on the Hemmings web site, not too familiar with these vehicles, but I like it ! What do you guys think ? Thanks Steve http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/dealer/oldsmobile/cutlass_supreme/1660190.html
  4. I have a 2100 sq.ft 3 bedroom, 2 bath, kit., living rm, 2 car attach and a 28 x28 detached garage - taxes $ 5800 yr........
  5. Wow Gary..... Taxes here are killing me... and our electric just went up again....
  6. Thanks guys for the input, I really appreciate it! Steve
  7. I'm looking at retirement within the year and we want to move from New York and head down south to either North or South Carolina. My wife spent a short time down in Jacksonville, N.C. as a child ( military brat ), so we are exploring different localities between the Carolina's. Just looking for some input from the members here on their own personal opinion....naturally I'm bringing all of my vehicles with me and I want to stay active in the local car clubs! Thanks!
  8. Guys - I'm looking for the left side bracket & horn for my '69 Impala. Not sure if the bracket is interchangeable between other GM models for the 1969 year. Any information is appreciated. Thanks Steve
  9. Looking great! I enjoy following along with your progress - great photos as well with details.... Steve
  10. I been looking at the current NADA values of 1968 thru 1972 3/4 ton 4x4 Fleetside trucks with factory air and the high retail prices start from 26K up to 38K. Is this the "norm" for a fully restored truck of this vintage ? I been looking at some beautiful trucks out there, but I just did not realized the high cost of them. I'm into the vintage cars of the late sixty's, but are these trucks from '68 thru '72 becoming more popular to warrant these type of prices ? Thanks!
  11. Thanks!! I actually just got back from a car cruise a few hours ago.... second time I took it out this year and I get the same replies - " Nice car" . It feels good that people appreciate it!
  12. Hi - I'm interested in a '69 Kingswood Estate Wagon, prefer a 9 passenger, big block wagon, but willing to look at others ( Townsman / Brookwood ) I have a small collection ( 3 ) of beautiful cars that I would be willing to trade for of equal value... just curious if any of the membership has or knows of one. Thanks!
  13. Thanks for the input guys, I appreciate it !
  14. Question to the membership: I'm trying to figure out what the current market price is of my '69 Impala? I checked the NADA price guild, and it listed my car at $13,000. The issue that I have is that the car is unique due to the low mileage ( 6,700 ) and the originality of the vehicle... The NADA list specific engines, transmissions etc. to choose from, nothing pertaining to mileage. I have always been told that your vehicle is worth what someone is willing to pay for it.....I would like to have some type of baseline to go by... Thanks! Steve
  15. Thanks John.... that would be really neat seeing it....good luck with the sales catalog!
  16. Thanks John........ I can't recall seeing a Impala or Caprice in that color combination.... Steve
