  1. I watched the latest installment of FAST N LOUD on demand tonight, what I saw was heart-breaking, to say the least. A numbers matching, low mileage 1968 Chevrolet Impala Custom Coupe ( that appeared to be all original ) had it's small block and suspension removed in favor of a big block crate engine and drop spindles. Why? This old Chevrolet was absolutely beautiful the way it was... it could of been driven on any show field and be admired for it's originality. I'm into the full size Chevrolets from this time period ( '67 thru '70 ) and when you come across a vehicle in this condition, that has "survived" all these years, just to be torn apart for profit is discouraging. Steve
  2. Here are some before and after photos of the top....it actually turned out not too bad !
  3. A friend of mine also purchase a 1969 Impala SS at GM Carlisle back in 2005. His was also a documented 427 4 speed convertible, Frost Green with a black top and interior!
  4. Gas here in the Hudson Valley Region of New York is now pushing $2.50.....
  5. Thanks again.... more excellent information, I appreciate it! When I had my garage built in 2010, I was thinking ahead with the thought of one day installing a lift, so we did make sure about the thickness of the pad; I also made sure about the garage door track, I remember that I had to special order the track so that it hugs the garage ceiling. After having both knees operated on, I'm leaning towards having the unit installed... Steve
  6. I have another question on this topic, on the lifts that you guys currently own, did the manufacturer deliver and set up your lifts or did you have to set it up for yourself ? Thanks
  7. Again, great information guys.... good points about not bolting the post to the floor. My Impalas and Monte Carlo range between 3400 to 3700 lbs. + -... so I'm figuring a 7000 lbs. capacity lift should be more than enough to handle them....as you can see from the photo, I'm out of space ! Steve
  8. Thanks guys for the input, I really appreciate it....Question, with the lifts that you have, do you have them bolted down into the floor ? I think I've seen some lifts that can go either way.... I would think as a safety concern, bolting the post would be the way to go. Steve
  9. Just looking for some ideas regarding a 4 post lift.... I have a 28'x28' detached garage with a ceiling height of 12'. The lift would be used primarily for storage of full sized vehicles, any suggestions or recommendations would be appreciated ! Steve
  10. Thanks Guys....It's rare...total production of full size ( Impala, Caprice, Biscayne, Bel Air, wagons ) was around 1,168,300...... of that total, just 2455 were the SS edition. Steve
  11. Back around 1950 or 1951, my father was in a auto accident with his Ford Crestliner, ended up hitting a telephone pole and he hit the windshield with the side of his face. He always had a scar from the accident on his left cheek, fast forward to 1985 while shaving, a piece of glass from the windshield came out from the scar.... could not believe it! Steve
  12. I wanted to share some photos of my current project, a documented 1969 SS CHEVROLET IMPALA 427/390hp car. I been looking for one of these for a while now, my last Impala project took me 14 years to complete ( a young family and available funds delayed the project.. lol ) I was very fortunate to acquire many, if not all of the nos parts from the previous owner to bring this SS back to it's former glory. I'll post pictures as the restoration get's underway ! Steve
  13. I decided to go with Bruce Hall / Applewood Motors... I'll be heading down next week to the location of the vehicle to pick up a large selection of n.o.s. parts and some large items as well ( inner fenders & rear quarters etc.. )... Bruce will have the vehicle to my location the following week. I appreciate all of the input! Steve
  14. Members, I will be starting a new project in the near future and I'm in need of both front fenders for 1969 Impala ( Caprice, Biscayne and Bel Air are all the same and can be used as well ). It is very common for these fenders to rot at the bottom heel, right behind the front tires, so the structure behind the sheet metal must be intact and free from corrosion as well. Surface rust, dings, dents etc. are fine, just no rot please. Please contact me here or my email ( steveimpala@yahoo.com ) Thanks, I appreciate it ! Steve
  15. Good input guys, I appreciate it ! I do have a vehicle that I can tow with and the car is not operational... I did rent a U Haul to tow one of my vehicles a few years ago up to a car show in Vermont with the wife and kids...to be honest, I was nervous since this was the first time doing this, I guess if I did this, the second time might not be as bad....a have a few weeks to think it over. Hi Matthew - North Carolina is looking good for next year:)
  16. I'm in the process of finalizing the purchase of a new project and I'll need to have the vehicle shipped. The vehicle is located outside of Baltimore and would be heading 5hrs. North to the Hudson Valley Region of New York. I'm almost debating whether or not to just rent a U hall and do it myself, but I would like input from the members if they could suggest a company that they had used in the past here on the East Coast. Thanks Steve
  17. Grog - The price that I was asking was $25K, the scammer sends $27K ( $2K was for shipping fees ) The Paypal email was a fake...the other tip off was that the largest sum that can go thru PayPal is $3000 according to a friend of mine that is in law enforcement. Never got into the arrangements for the pick up of the vehicle since I realized this was a scam. Google "PayPal scams", it will give you more specific details like this one. Good Rules Roger ! Steve
  18. I just wanted to make the membership aware of a scam that I experience yesterday. I currently have a vehicle listed for sale over on Ebay, that I posted yesterday. Within 2hrs of the listing, I received a text message from an individual that was interested, he asked the normal questions about the vehicle. He said that he was an engineer working off-shore in Canada and he could only communicate via email or text ( 1st Red Flag ). After asking me if I had a PayPal account and what I was looking to get for my vehicle, within 10 mins I had a email from PayPal stating that $27,000 was in my account on HOLD ( Red Flag ). The name of this individual is Marvin Jackson (marvinjackson890@yahoo.com). The email goes on to state that I needed to send $2000 USD ( shipping & handling ) to the following address: Carson Bailey, Anaheim, California 92801 via RIA Money Transfer. Once received, the HOLD on the $27,000 would be released. At this point, I stopped texting and updated my auction that states that I will not respond to any texts. Makes you wonder how many people out there that get taken by these dirt bag / low life's. This was my first time listing an item for sale... what an experience! Steve
  19. Your right John, I hope that the new owner doesn't destroy it ....It would of look good parked between my two Impalas ! Steve
  20. The Biscayne is no longer listed....it had three more days to go before auction ended, owner must of received an offer..... oh well.
  21. Thanks John for the input, I appreciate it !
  22. That's the one.....sorry about that, forgot to post the link....
  23. There is a 1969 Chevrolet Biscayne currently listed on ebay... right now it's around the $11 K mark....owner states all original and it looks it. I have '69 Impalas, but the Biscaynes and Bel Airs are unique since the production numbers are less and you just don't see them around that much. I have to say, there's a cool factor of a "Plain Jane" car like this ! What are you thoughts about the price and if it's worth restoring or leaving as is. Thanks
  24. I'm a Chevrolet fanatic, but those are beautiful ! Even if I could afford one, I would be afraid to drive it....nick8086 has the right idea.. I would load up the family and enjoy it!
