  1. Thanks to all that have served ! My Dad served in Korea and my daughter is currently serving as a MA out in Silverdale, Washington - both US Navy. Steve
  2. Just checked out Zillow for that area...some really nice homes ! Steve
  3. I can't find any pictures of my wife with my cars... she jokingly refers to them as the "other women".... but I do have a neat picture of my kids ( they look really enthusiastic ) and a current one as of yesterday where my daughter made a surprise visit ! Steve
  4. Ok, here is a picture of me driving my 1969 Impala in Vermont about 9 years ago, coming back from a show in Stratton Mountain. I was caught off guard, turned out to be one of the editors from Hemmings. I purchased it in 2004, had 4900 original miles on it..... I've been restoring a SS427 Impala over the past few years now and there is a blog going on over on the restoration projects here in this forum. Steve
  5. I seen this fire extinguisher tonight on one of those automotive channels and being in the fire service years ago, I found it very interesting. Just curious if any other member here has purchase this product ? " Element Fire Extinguisher " Steve
  6. Those guys were great.... use to watch them Sunday mornings ! My parents seen Huntz Hall at Bear Mountain ( near West Point Military ) years ago, watching the ski jumps. Steve
  7. I have friends that go there every year... the pictures that they post from the show are unbelievable...... it's on my bucket list ! Steve
  8. One step forward, two steps back 🙄. I was all set to install the center bracket which I just painted the other day and I just noticed two drill holes. So I looked at the assembly diagram photo and my other '69 Impala and sure enough, there is a small " L " shape bracket that is needed to secure the bottom grill. Now I have to go thru the boxes of parts to see if it's in there, if not, I'll just remove the one off of the other '69 so I can use it as a template and make one up. To be continue..... Steve
  9. Looks like a really nice car... good luck with preservation, I'll be following along ! Steve
  10. LOL....That's too much John, I didn't realized that at all. Yes, me and Walt have been sending emails back and forth.... Those shows are EXCELLENT, I've been watching a few every night ! A lot of information and I'm learning a lot about the pre-war vehicles that I'm finding fascinating - The show with Walt's 1930 Packard has to be right up there - beautiful vehicle, it's art work in motion ! Steve
  11. Just getting caught up with my emails and just opened the latest Speedster Monthly E-Newsletter.... I took the virtual tour of the New Headquarters and it was amazing !! Is there a time frame yet on the completion of the building for next year ? Thanks ! Steve
  12. Hi John... yes there is ! I hope that this is the only "piece of the puzzle" that was missing... I have so many boxes of parts that would make your head spin ! 🙂 Thank goodness for the assembly manual with the detail pictures and my other '69 Impala that I can refer to as a reference.... otherwise I would be at a lost. Steve
  13. My center brace for the grill support came in today. This one item ties everything together - hood latch plate, upper & lower grill that I painted and the lower valence. The brace does need the two nylon nuts which the grill attachment screws into.... those are on order. I ordered extra nylon nuts, I figure that I might as well replace the nuts on the other two braces since they are 50 years old and probably getting " weak" from all the times I mounted and remounted the grills. Steve
  14. Wow.....it's sad to see that. Why not just donate it instead of destroying it ? Steve
  15. Ted, I'm going nuts going back and forth at those pictures.... all great..... I would probably go with #6..... Steve
  16. Sorry to hear that Ted..... I hope it all works out for you. Steve
  17. Just received in the mail yesterday and I saw a familiar vehicle that won in the Concours d' Elegance ... Congrats John.....Beautiful Chevrolet ! Steve
  18. Not sure if I mention this before in another post, but when I did my first restoration, black '69 Impala - a 14 year restoration, I rented a open trailer and took it to it's first major car show up in Vermont. Long story short, the following day I check all the tie-downs to make sure everything was secured for our trip home and that's when I noticed it - someone went down the driver's side and over the trunk lid with their hands, leaving a scratch in the clear coat, probably from their wedding band. Another lesson learn.... Steve
  19. I totally agree !! The lack of consideration is mind boggling ..... The last show I went to a few years ago, people would walk up to my car, look at the interior and turn around to start a conversation with their friend and the next moment, they are leaning on my car... can't tell you how many times this has happen to me - right in front of me ! I actually had people reach inside the engine compartment and start touching parts of the engine...... yeah, I never leave the vehicle now. Steve
