  1. Bernie, I too use neutral at stop lights for increased fan speed. Another thing I do is use low gear for slow traffic . I replaced the 7psi rad cap with a 13psi cap. (13psi is the AC job spec cap) I've added "water wetter" (a motorcycle coolant) in the place of water in the coolant mix. Mine will heat up on an up hill grade, but not to the point of losing coolant. Then it cools down on the down hill leg,...
  2. I haven't actually done this switch. It is my understanding that the 6 volt relay will work with a "Power Gen" brand alternator. If you're installing a "Power Gen" brand you should contact them. I don't know how it will work with another type of alternator.
  3. Valve train sounds will be one quarter engine speed RPM A piston slap will be actual Engine RPM. As would an exhaust leak. Could it be a leaky exhaust manifold? I had a leaking exhaust manifold that sounded like a piston slap
  4. Take the butterfly valve out and throw it away. It's function is to speed warm ups. It'll warm up fast enough without it. And you don't have to worry about it seizing while closed.
  5. Very nice. !! What's that gizmo under the hood on the right fender ? Is it an underhood light?
  6. Very Nice !!! Dad bought his (now mine) Roadmaster in 1970 for $300
  7. Nine years ago I had both bumpers for the '55 Roadmaster replated by Graves (Florence Alabama). Graves has and has had for many years an excellent and well deserved reputation . That's seven pieces for the front and three pieces for the rear, ten pieces total. I dropped the bumpers off, and they took me on a tour of the plant. I was MOST impressed with the operation. I paid $3,000 +/- for plating of both bumpers. They didn't require repair, only replate (I dropped them off and picked them up) Today (nine years later) they look great!
  8. Dad had a sleeve put in a bad cylinder in the Roadmaster. That was 38 years ago. It's still running strong
  9. The EPA has eliminated "cheap" chrome plating. In my opinion the best is GRAVES PLATING Florence, Alabama
  10. It could be. I don't know... I found it on the net. on a site without explanation. I've named it "Buicks turning left" Most Cool !
  11. I agree. And the black part of the seats seems to be vinyl rather than the cloth. (see Lamar's picture of the sales brochure)
  12. I think $30,000 is an auction price, IMHO The low miles make $25,000 a realistic price. A similar restored car with less than 99,000 miles would be a $22,000 car
  13. on the front signals , too. I didn't know either.
  14. Those LEGO cars are very creative. But they leave me feeling like I need new glasses..
  15. I disagree with that. If someone drove it 5,000 miles a year, it could do that for many years and still be a low mileage car I do agree with $25K - $30K (US$)
  16. Absolutely!!! Oil bath is superior by far!!
  17. Put in a quart of Marvel Mystery Oil It'll be good to Go!!
