1. Engine mounting pads would be my first suspect
2. If my memory is correct; The 1936 had a rectangle dial face for the tuning dial
3. I've only pulled mine once. That's the way we pulled it.
4. Check my math ... 65 - 52 = 13 13/52 = 0.25 (or 25%) 0.4/7 = 0.057 (or 6%)
5. Your odometer is 6% in error. Your speedometer is 20% - 25% in error. Tire size may be the culprit for the 6% error. If you change the gear, a 6% reduction should be made. I say your problem is the magnet (lack of) resistance. Edited to correct mathematical error
6. I believe those might be after market "wire wheel" covers with Buick centers glued on
7. My advice is keep the 364 , Dynaflow and torque tube.
8. I'm not familiar with the 364 block to bell housing bolt pattern, But it is something you need to check before trying to mate a different transmission. Replacing the torque tube with an open driveshaft will move the thrust point from the transmission to the axle swing arms. So new suspension must be fitted/ fabricated. And, most likely a different axle. You may find that the complete drive train from the engine to the axle need to be replaced
9. I agree. I'm sure that it is the 59 year old magnet has lost some magnetism. My 2003 Durango has tires two sizes larger than the specified tire size. The larger tire makes about 5% error (again checking against GPS Garmin Nuvi). I don't think a difference in tire size would show 67 at an actual 55
10. HOLD THAT SPEEDO GEAR CHANGE !!! good thing to check. My speedometer shows 30% - 35% faster than actual speed. I checked it with my GPS nuvi. And while I was at it, I checked the odometer. On a 200 mile round trip, the odometer was dead on accurate. According to GPS and the highway mileposts. And the speedometer was consistently, about 1/3 faster than tbe speed clocked by GPS. So, before you start changing gears, check the resistance in the speedo head.
11. And here's another thread about ball joints; http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=242437 http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=242437
12. Regarding the ball joints, here's this; http://forums.aaca.org/f162/57-buick-ball-joints-296971.html
13. I drove mine 75 miles yesterday. I'm glad it's got power steering and power brakes. I got the Dynaflow rebuilt 14 years ago and it hasn't leaked more than a few drops. The next time I check, it might be low. But I haven't added to it, ever. The Dynaflow is a very sturdy transmission. It doesn't have much to go wrong with it. Mine works like a charm. And did even before it was rebuilt. We had it rebuilt just because it was 45 years old. Even then it leaked just a little, just a few drops. The problem with a hard pedal is not going to be solved with disc brakes. It's a power vacuum booster you need. If you're going to add a booster, A dual master cylinder is a good idea,
14. Would being upside down change the direction of the spinning engine? Granted; with the airplane upside down, what was left is now right for the pilot in the upside down airplane. But, the whip from the Sopwith's spinning engine would be in the same direction as viewed from the opposing airplane..
15. 1954 and earlier, only Roadmaster had four holes. All others had 3 holes (except Skylark had none) 1955 - 1957 only Special had three holes. All others had four.
16. They do. But, it has to hang on the outside of the frame to get by the brake McylEdit: I highly recommend Waldren's !! . whichever way you go dual or single (mine is single)
17. And perhaps you could combine the "Please Read" sticky and "The Rules" sticky into one thread. As each of those is quite succinct.
18. Sub forum for meets is a good idea
19. Very Nice !! That's a rare one you've snagged !! only 3527 Super convertibles http://www.buicks.net/years/55.shtml <center style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium;">
<tbody>
1955 Buick Production Figures

SPECIAL SERIES Model 41-Four-Door Tourback Sedan.............................84,182 Model 43-Four-Door Riviera....................................66,409 Model 46C-Convertible Coupe...................................10,009 Model 46R-Two-Door Riviera...................................155,818 Model 48-Two-Door Tourback Sedan..............................61,879 Model 49-Estate Wagon..........................................2,952 Model 410-Stripped Chassis.........................................1 Model 411-Stripped Chassis.......................................696

SUPER SERIES Model 52-Four-Door Sedan......................................43,280 Model 56C-Convertible Coupe....................................3,527 Model 56R-Two-Door Riviera....................................85,656 Model 520-Stripped Chassis.........................................1 Model 521-Stripped Chassis.......................................744

CENTURY SERIES Model 61-Four-Door Tourback Sedan.............................13,269 Model 63-Four-Door Riviera....................................55,088 Model 66C-Convertible Coupe....................................5,588 Model 66R-Two-Door Riviera....................................80,388 Model 68-Two-Door Tourback Sedan.................................270 Model 69-Estate Wagon..........................................4,243

ROADMASTER SERIES Model 72-Four Door Sedan.......................................31,717 Model 76C-Convertible Coupe.....................................4,739 Model 76R-Two Door Riviera.....................................28,071 Model 720-Stripped Chassis..........................................1 Model 721-Stripped Chassis........................................336
</tbody>
</center><center style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium;">Total Production...............................738,814</center>
20. I have that on my Ford truck. You're right, it gives piece of mind to see a number, rather than "C" "N" "H"I should make that addition to the Buick
