  2. Nice Explanation !! I would add, when cold starting do not push the pedal further than needed for cranking. Pushing the pedal all the way down will de-activate the choke
  3. Don't use ether for starting fluid.... It's too volatile. Use WD-40 or penetrating oil Good Luck!!

  8. I don't doubt your side boards were covered originally My originals were not covered. I'm certain that they came both ways. Perhaps it is a difference in assembly plants. Or, Difference from a four door to a two door car. Mine is a Framingham car

  11. Very Nice !! Is that textured material? Or is it a printed material with a smooth surface? I'm not sure mine has the correct material. It is a smooth print.

  14. I'm glad you mentioned that Willie. You anticipated my next question. After reading the shop manual, and how it operates. Removing the belt is what I was thinking of doing... I'll take the belt off.
  15. that's interesting. Dad and I almost did something like that when my brother wrecked dad's '75 Olds 88 conv. I found a front clip for a '76 Olds 88. Dad would've had the only '76 Olds 88 conv in town. but, Dad elected to go with '75 parts.. We did do that when another brother wrecked a '67 Dodge Dart. We put a front clip from a '68 Dart, '69 dart taillights and, while we were at it, '74 Valiant seats, door panels and head liner. sort of like Johnny Cash's Cadillac I should've made pictures, at the time it didn't seem remarkable...

  17. I have a leak at one of the fittings of the hydraulic power cylinder. I suspect I need to replace the 'O' rings on the external tube fittings and fitting bolts. (at the top left of the photo) Does someone know what size they are? Do you reckon I should replace all the 'O' rings on both ends of the external lines at the valve housing and the cylinder? (that would be four connections, eight 'O' rings) Or, should I let sleeping dogs lie and replace only the 'O' rings on the leaking fitting? This afternoon, I drove to a cruise in one county east. The Roadmaster was running as smooth and quiet as I'm sure it was the day it was pulled of the dealer's lot in 1955. Until the steering fluid got set loose... It really made a mess of the engine compartment.... My first hint something was wrong , was on the highway cruising at 65 mph , the engine begin missing and back firing.... That was due to the power steering oil being sprayed on the distributor and shorting it out and causing misfires.... It was also spraying on the exhaust manifold. I'm thankful that it didn't catch fire,, Here's a bit of irony to go with the story. About 38 years ago, Dad and I were coming home from a car show at Rome Georgia. Twelve miles outside of Birmingham, we ran out of gas on an uphill run of US 78. Due to a malfunction of the fuel gauge. If we would have had just a few more ounces of gas, we would have made the top of the hill and coasted to a filling station on the downhill side..... Every time I approach that spot I think to myself; "there's where Daddy and I ran out of gas in the Roadmaster..". Tonight, just as I approached that spot and the reminder of Dad and I running out of gas.. the Nailhead said; "sput, ...sput,... sput, ... POW!! sput.. sput.. sput.. POW!!
  18. Nice tip on the fuel tank sender !! I need that for mine.. the gauge has been stuck on full ... I've been using the trip odometer to gauge the fuel level
  19. I just looked at your pictures again.... Very Nice car!! I see the universal upper radiator hose... those universal hoses can cause un-due stress on the radiator fitting. Try NAPA or CARS old Buick parts for the proper fitted hose.
