The boxing ring bell is a very old-school car alarm. I'm aware the original horn bar is missing from the steering wheel; tried to make sure the picture indicated that was missing. There are after-market horns, which are functional, and original 4-note horns hanging from the underside of the hood (not functional). I am VERY familiar with this car. My friend purchased this through an auction house in Chicago on Ebay about 12 or 15 years ago. I stayed at his farm in Vermont for a week before the ROA meet in Gettysburg a few years back and I had a chance to thoroughly inspect the car as he wanted me to buy it. I passed on the opportunity because although I believe this car was a very well kept original GS there was obviously some rust repair which was performed before repaint and that repair was starting to show through. If you look closely at the pics there are some non original generic moldings which have been placed around the body....or at least there was when I looked at it. The car was originally white, the dual quads were added. If this was an original SCO paint dual quad car I would have had it on a Uhaul trailer in Gettysburg. My friend sold this car and a `62 Tbird convert to a dealer in Vermont who I believe is running it through Mecum. Sadly, my friend passed away a few months after my stay but thankfully I was able to spend some quality time with him on the farm. He was a very unique person who led an unusual life, and could weave a tale of it, over the course of a few too many whiskies, that was fascinating. My frequent chats with him are sorely missed. It appears that one person is using an online auction to get rid of a bunch of Riviera parts - like four wood steering wheels. There are a number separate auctions, each with a few parts. Looks like a nice car overall but that aftermarket steering wheel is murdering the look of the interior...and compromising the overall impression of quality. The original steering wheel is soooo `60`s why not have it restored like the rest of the car? I pulled it out of a barn after being parked there since 1988, an honest barn find! I've replaced the windshield, radiator, water pump, fuel pump, alternator, rebuilt the carb, replaced the rubber fuel lines. I rebuilt the transmission as it was starting to slip from sitting so long. The car now runs and drives well enough to be an in town cruiser. The body is straight and essentially rust free, inner fenders are good, and the floor pan is solid with only a little surface rust. The paint is showing its age, and has a scratch on the passenger side. The vinyl top has a few rock chip holes in and could stand to be replaced. Interior is in good condition and the only seat damage is wear the stitching has torn on the drivers seat. I did pull the carpet out as it was damaged and needed to go. Most electrical controls work as well. The car has the factory 455 with 126,000 miles on it. It would make an awesome survivor restoration, or a great platform for a complete restoration, you choose! This was a GREAT buy assuming the purchase price was in the upper teens and as long as the body wasnt hammered up and bondo`d over and the paint is decent. Great color combo, very, very nicely equipped including serviceable leather and early production only twilight sentinel, LOW miles and assuming it is an original rust free CA car, original trunk trim intact, etc...so many nice little touches like the original seat belts with, IMO, the best buckle design in automotive history...even a socket set permanently mounted under the hood on the tie bar! I`m not crazy about the rattle can work under the hood and a few little things but this was a great car at a great price to get into the hobby.
