BUICK RACER

Recommended Posts

Wow!!! What a show! Thank you so much for taking those shots, especially at the forum breakfast. It would be great to have this as a standard part of every meet, as more folks get online.

Have a great time everyone.

Roberta,

Thanks to you and your army of photographers or is it paparazzi (sp), those of us stuck here on the East coast can kind of partake of the festivities.

Did you have to get an interpreter in order to talk to the guy from Georgia?

Give my regards to everybody.

Great pictures! Background and foreground!! A great mix of stock and well-done modified Buicks, plus some "professional" Buicks, too!

Of course, Ed's limo will make a great incognito parts return vehicle to Texas, lol.

The pictures look great! Thanks Roberta and Derek!

I tried to figure out how to link to these pictures without giving access to all my PhotoBucket Albums but my little brain just couldn't figure it out. Hopefully all these pictures don't create a loading problem with this thread. I certainly don't want to upset Roberta. She already reminded me at the breakfast last Friday to be careful 'cause she can turn me on...and she can turn me off. (edit-as in a moderator can can turn someone off if they are bad...just thought I might better explain...just in case)

So anyhow here are my favorites or the greatest Buick National yet. (IMO)

At the Atlanta airport, picture taken by a very nice Dixie Chapter President Jan Stegler

Couldn't believe my eyes when after arriving at Sea-Tac Airport and while hailing a cab I look up ans see this

Luckily the Doll Museum/Seattle Botanical Garden tour allowed anyone wanting to skip one or the other to do so. Mr Myer chose to go to the Doll Museum. He later explained that he thought it was the other kind of "dolls". The gardens were beautiful that day, as was my sweet Reet.

Dang it, Dang it, I need to get a new keyboard because I just drooled all over this one. Great pictures Lamar. Great cars, thanks to everyone who drove their Buick Beauty to Bellevue. Thanks for supplying me with a new wish list.

The 49's looked spectaular.

Thanks for the awesome photos everybody. Beautiful cars all around.

The same thing jumped out at me, Stevo, but not normally the first cars I look at during a show. That customized 54 looks really well done and great in the pictures, did it look that good in real life? I also enjoyed seeing the unrestored woodie wagon. Was that "driftwood" ? I think they drove that car to Rochester last year. I hope that car stays original forever, it's perfect as is.

Thanks again Lamar.

Mike

p.s. I noticed your wife had a name tag on a lanyard, did you put "Mrs. Earl" on it? whistle.gif

Excellent photos Mr. Earl!!! Thanks for helping us get our Buick fix! That turquoise '54 convertible resto mod must have been a sight-I don't know who took more pics of it-you or Roberta!

I liked the one that showed the sea of Rivieras-I didn't realize until I saw them parked side by side from the rear view that the '79-'85 Rivs had design cues that resembled the '63-'64 Rivs.

Looks like the weather was perfect-I'm sure a good time was had by all. Nobody has mentioned, though if there were any bargains to be had at the swap meet-and what kind of offerings were there in the cars for sale area? David

I'll try to answer a couple of questions...yes, that was the same unrestored woody as in Rochester last year...he had a lot less distance to cover this year.

The '70 Estate Wagon won an archival award - I was one of the team judging it.

One of the most striking sights to me was a pair of GSs - one black with gold, the other the inverse colour of gold with black - parked side by side. I think I got a photo of that, but the laptop is packed away now as we are leaving Oregon tomorrow morning as soon as we can get away. I do have quite a few more photos, it's just a matter of deciding on the best (without repeating too much), and getting them up. I'll be getting home on Wednesday, so I ought to be able to get a few more up by Thursday some time.

Here's some photos I've chosen from among the ones we took. If all works well, they'll be clickable thumbnails, so click on the ones you want to look at and hopefully it won't get too crazy on the loading time.

I forget the year of this project car, but it was really neat to see there.

Great display of hood ornaments - the framed piece is an explanation...unfortunately, we don't have a close-up of that.

A great hearse.

'37s and '38s.

I chatted with the owner a bit - this '72 is an original car...a real beauty (and no Kris, not quite enough to get me to buy one). There was a model in the same colour at the Stamart in Fargo yesterday.

Finally, some of the early Buicks.

th_20070726earlyBuicks7.jpg

I tried to pick photos of cars that haven't necessarily been posted already, although it has been a while since I went through some of Roberta's pictures, so they may have slipped through my memory.

If there is anything you saw that you may want to see a photo of, let me know and I'll see if we have it, since we do have quite a number of photos.

I'll check - there was a '66 four door done as a police car (don't know if it was original or not) and I know there was at least one '65.

I'm afraid I don't have any photos of those cars.

Interesting that there were 4 - if I counted correctly, 6 were registered...of course, mine didn't make it. I also noted that a 1929 Series 129 was registered...unless it was the racer, there was no 1929 there (which is a shame for me owning one as well).

Derek, I realized after my earlier post that there were actually three '65 Wildcat convertibles. Gene Sorensen's red Wildcat Custom convertible, Chuck Dickinson's Astro Blue convertible with the wire wheel covers from Portland, and Ron Neibauer's Astro Blue Wildcat Deluxe convertible from Spokane.

Mr. Earl, great pictures, and good to finally get to meet you. But, I have a few complaints, 1. The name is Paul, not Mr. and 2. Meyer is spelled Meyer, not Myer. I was disappointed by the Doll Museum, thought it was the 'other' dolls, and, I too am trying to figure out how to stack round rocks, they will have to be drilled with a diamond drill, a roto hammer probably won't work. Thanks again for the great photos, Paul
