  1. I did the same in my shop near Flint. It is a lot warmer in the winter too. I got the carpet from friends & family that was upgrading the carpet in their homes. A lot of it like bedroom carpet is barely used.
  2. From north of Detroit to almost Reno, Nevada for my Model F Buick.
  3. Agree. Fix the obvious first which is the wiring. You might be surprised on the results of good wiring.
  4. If it is more towards the 50 amp continuous current draw, I would suggest a 10 gauge wire. If there is a 50 amp start up surge and it settles in the 30 amp range 12 gauge wire would be fine.
  5. I do not believe that the headlight ring is correct.
  6. We were requested to bring our '15 truck to a car show at the GM Component plant in Grand Rapids last weekend where we showed the truck and gave rides. (request was made by friends in the Camaro club that work at the plant). We also had a tour of the plant where they make rear axles, roller lifters, and a number of other components. We had a good time. For our effort, we received this ring gear.
  7. Rubber valve stems are fine to use as long as you keep enough pressure in the tires, especially the rear tires.
  8. Welcome. Which city/town are you located?
  9. Welcome. Really, where in Alabama are you located? Is there any documentation with the car or sticker on which dealer sold the car? I used to be the service rep for Buick in Ala in the 80's.
  10. My philosophy of much engineering work is Just because you can does not mean you should.!!
  11. My wife and I went on our honeymoon in a '76 Corvette .. CAMPING.
  12. The problem with annual inspections IMO is that they can give the owner a false sense of security that everything on their car is good. Most owners have a sense that their vehicle might have issues and may drive accordingly, but if an inspector says a vehicle is "good" they may drive more assertively. Plus I had family in PA and the joke for years was that it seemed every time they had a vehicle inspected it needed either brakes or shocks. So much for the credibility for fair inspections.
  13. If you really want to see a bunch of "old cars", you need to come to the Henry Ford Museum/ Greenfield Village the first weekend after Labor Day. Sept 10-11 this year. In my opinion this is the best non-concours old car event anywhere. This is where you can see "normal" vehicles being driven and enjoyed by their owners. The event is limited to 1932 and older vehicles only. There is usually 600-700 vehicles in attendance along with a lot of other items of the era like motorcycles, high wheeler bicycles, etc... During this event, vehicle owners are allowed to drive their vehicles around the village. Lots of rides given to many friends & families. There is also a HCCA & AACA two day tour the Thursday & Friday before the weekend event. If you come, look me up as we will be there with the '15 Buick Truck. https://www.thehenryford.org/current-events/calendar/old-car-festival/?gclid=CjwKCAjw3qGYBhBSEiwAcnTRLidcF7CvwwmX7_51IrOtJt9awpWpI2PQw3d5C8e_PdUcJyBvN6ARlRoC1PoQAvD_BwE
  14. An air compressor is a very helpful tool to clean out the debris from the bolt hole.
  15. What year GMC? Also what engine?
  16. Any oil should be fine. Many persons use 30W or 10W30. The least expensive oil today is better than the best oil in the day. I personally use the least expensive oil at Wal-Mart/ Sams Club. Works fine.
