  1. I have what I believe to be a set of 13" corvair hubcaps. (They came on a Triumph Spitfire I used to own) They are in very good to excellent condition. Please see my listing on Ebay Asking $120 OBO Located in Cincinnati,Ohio http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360151153941&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMESELX%3AIT If interested, please contact me through email at 59buick(@)gmail.com.
  2. From what I can tell, Marathon still sells 100% gasoline here in the Midwest. I buy it at the local chain, United Dairy Farmers.
  3. I received my Bugle yesterday and read it cover to cover! What a FANTASTIC issue. Thank you Pete for all of your efforts and to Brian Laurance for helping compile articles and leading the charge in writing the feature article! It's amazing what can happen with the extra 16 pages added to the Bugle for this special edition! A <span style="font-weight: bold">SPECIAL THANK YOU</span> to all of the 59 Buick Division Members (and others) who contributed financially to make the expanded issue a reality!
  4. I think the Solstice should be rebadged as a Skylark! I would also welcome the Pontiac G8 as a Buick! It would be nice to see a Buick that was in the $20000 range.....it's hard to get brand loyalty when the younger buyers can't afford a $35,000 Lucerne or Lacrosse.
  5. Ohio's YOM plates on a "historical" vehicle are $25 for 50 years! No leisure driving is allowed, but there's always a car show or cruise-in somewhere! I went to get Historic YOM plates for my 1968 Apollo Travel Trailer and they told me the plates were only good for show. My response? "That's right....I'm going to take it camping, park it and SHOW IT!"
  6. I saw that ad....looks too much like a taxicab to me!
  7. There are probably good spare dynaflows out there. Check out www.buick-59.com/mxbba/ Lots of good 59 buick info there!
  8. Super Cool Parts Washer! What a terrific idea.

It is not made in a seperate factory; every factory that makes Chebby trucks just slaps a GMC on one that comes down the line every once in a while. So, GM's costs are in documentation, maintaining a seperate Web site and line of brochures, and maybe some seperate parts numbers. </div></div> I'm not trying to pick a fight, but the manufacturing costs would be the same dropping Chevrolet as well. There is an argument to going back to GM having a truck division (make it all from SUV to light duty through to buses and heavy trucks). After that, the differential costs of having a Chevy truck vs. GMC truck site isn't of huge significance. If you have a spread of models with a range of options, you need to present them whether they have a bowtie, GMC, or tri-shield badge. </div></div> I agree Derek, that as far as costs go, it would be insignificant in terms of production to go either way. What I meant by saying that GMC was a joke (didn't mean to offend!) was that the way I understood it the main reason they were still around is because you couldn't get a Buick or Pontiac dealership to sell a Chevy truck. Hence, they sell GMC trucks instead. If you consolidate the brand, then it really doesn't matter. The duplication along brand lines certainly creates costs and consumer frustration, while maintaining consumer loyalty. I have never been brand loyal, but I bought a Pontiac Sunfire at one point because I liked the looks, knowing that I was paying more than a Cavalier, even though it was esentially the same car. (bought a Geo Storm too, which was rebadged as well, with an Isuzu engine). So, IMHO, STYLING is what sells.....give Chevy more highly styled cars or Buick more affordable ones and, like you said, both would sell, but diluting the brand does more harm than help. I have been shopping for trucks and was confused as hell looking at the Fords.....something like 80+ versions of the F-150 to choose from. I didn't even know which one to pick to match up to the Chevys and other models I was comparing. It would be GREAT if the revived Muscle Car era were to continue. A vintage styled Riviera would be a fantastic boom. Better yet, give us a new GSX based on the '70 car and that should give the others some competition! BTW, Stock is still at $1.75 despite statements by the company that a GM bankruptcy is "probable".

A lot of the guys who sell neon at the flea market either do repairs or can direct you to the person who does repairs for them.

  12. CNBC reported today that they expected GM to become Chevy and Cadillac. I can't imagine them leaving Buick out since they are so strong in China. I would love to see Buick bring a QUALITY small affordable car to market again. The Lucerne is FANTASTIC, but just out of reach to someone like myself who can really only afford a $20,000 car. Pontiac has a great legacy, but they just haven't done much lately. GMC is a joke, created only to sell trucks at other dealerships than Chevy. Saturn's dead and Hummer and Saab are going, going gone. Selling off divisions pays a paltry sum compared to their debtload though...so I don't see that as helping much.

Trying to arrange a caravan with some other midwestern B-59 owners. Probably meet up in the St. Louis area and caravan out from there. Ted, if you're AC is working, my wife and kids might want to jump ship and ride with you. The '59 is going to be HOT!

  16. I have one in dark green, in NOS condition still has the wrapper around the top decal. It wasn't for sale, but you can PM me with a very generous offer and I'll consider it. I'm not trying to be greedy, but I'm rather partial to it. Was planning on using vinyl paint to make it match my black interior.
  17. In addition to posi's on those '59, someone should grab the brake drums as well on the '59 and '60.
  18. I've seen this beautiful '63 in person and was absolutely awed. It is every bit as beautiful as you can imagine from the photos. What a shame that you have to let it go Tom, but I certainly understand the need to fund the '59's restoration! Good Luck!
  19. Hurrah! Hurrah! I echo your sentiments Eric. This was one fan-damn-tastic edition of the Bugle thanks to all of Pete's hard work. Let's not forget Brian Laurance, President of the 1959 Buick Division of the BCA for Collecting the articles for Pete and Tom Sidoti for his excellent articles on the 1 year only Automatic Heat option and the 1959 Indianapolis 500 Pace car article, not to mention the famed and often belittled Triple Turbine transmission we all love so much! Some of the best written and edited articles we've ever seen! I am on the edge of my seat waiting for 59 Buicks part 2! I hope it has some glimpses into the life and time of Capt. Al Casby and his unique collection!
  20. I have 2 sets of these also! Thought the keys and keychain alone were worth the price I paid for them. And, of course, I love the photo of the '59 Buick! I'm keeping 1, but the other is available if anyone is interested. Mine is without the original plastic sleeve, but is complete.
  21. sitting that long, check the brakes....regular brake fluid flushes are important for the ABS systems on these cars. I'm really surprised that you're not having brake problems. Almost sounds like the car was under water at some point, especially with where you are located. Everybody is right...the forum here is incredibly helpful and there are a couple, Jim, Barney for example that are just an absolute WEALTH of information! I don't think you'll ever turn a profit on this car, but if you can pick up pieces cheap and the brakes and tranny are in good shape, then you should be able to make it into a daily driver.
  22. Congratulations Pete! What a beautiful car. I too love the color combination. Such a great find to include many of the parts and pieces you'll need to put her back to original condition. Keep us Posted!
