  1. If the pump is aluminum or pot metal, it is most probably catodic corrosion. You may need to introduce a zinc sacrifical anode to manage the problem. Cathodic corrosion is an electrochemical process where two metals are placed in an electrolyte and one of the metals corrodes. Corrosion continues as long as the electric contact is maintained, since the electrons continue to flow to the cathode. The Basics of Cathodic Protection (corrosionpedia.com)
  2. I have three heat risers available as shown in the attached photo. Studs will need replacement in all three, but they are not cracked. Left to right, the casting numbers are" 146-5 1A??? (?=Not readable) 2 over 146-29 (opposite side of Marvel logo) Make offer via PM if interested and include your ship to address to establish shipping cost.
  3. A good deal on a "quality" used trailer would be about half the price of a new one. Just be careful to inspect when you buy. I recently saw an enclosed car trailer made in GA that made only one trip from GA to OR and it didn't hold up well at all. Floor supports were bent (maybe overloaded) and the floor itself was only 3/4" particle board that flexed just from walking on it. Top was flat and would not hold up to snow loads.
  4. This site did show 1938 Buick Special seat covers, but maybe not shown in the photos. I suggest you call them or go for generic bench type seat covers available via eBay. vintage seat covers: Search Result | eBay

  6. Carter P4594 Electric Fuel Pump (Rotary Pump) Solenoid pumps are much less reliable.
  7. Hans, Your list of cars indicates large motors that soak up heat while running and radiate heat that boils out the ramaining fuel in the float bowl when parked. In my opinion, your best solution to refilling the float bowl is an electric fuel pump located near the fuel tank and powered through the ignition switch with an additional manual on-off switch. Turn on the ignition and the fuel pump for 30 seconds before starting your car. Turn off the fuel pump when it starts, and repeat each time you start your car. The electric fuel pump will also serve to eliminate Vapor lock on hot days or when driving at high altitude.
  8. Most common spare carriers are not worth much. I believe it is a "Leaverite".
  9. Not as well as electric. IMO, Vacuum wipers are part of the character of the car. They work well when not accellerating and more vacuum is available. They usually slow significantly or stop when accellerating.
  10. Terry sent several boxes of signs home with me to sell on the west coast. I still have two Buick Motor Car signs left and lots of the Oldsmobile signs. Note: Each sign has the GM Authorization sticker on the back.
  11. I think the forum members would benefit greatly if an "Automotive Tool Section" was included. Listings of how to use special tools with photos and a buy/sell section for hub pullers, testing equipment, special wrenches, jacks, and even hand cranks would be very helpful.
  12. True, but the technique was common to this old timer... I think it would be worth a try.
  13. Be sure to check the display dimmer. I thought I had lost the display on my 2019 Yukon Denali. I finally found that while entering or exiting the vehicle, I had brushed against the dimmer at the lower left of the dash and turned it all the way down.
  14. I believe you are limited to the policy coverage. If this was your home instead of a warehouse, your home owner's coverage would apply. However, I suggest you contact the warehouse owner to see if the warehouse contents were insured. Good luck,
  15. Jay, Not true. My original 31-67 looks very similar.
  16. An old timer once checked a cylinder head for me using only an anacetylene torch. He blackened the machined surfaces and wiped it down with a clean rag. He then inspected it with a magnifying glass for cracks. He didn't find any and said it was good to go. I installed it and it is still running in the car.
  17. I recently met a former SUN employee who lives locally to help me get my tester fully operational. My SUN Motor Tester:
  18. My 1915 Bumble Buick and my 1924 Buick Pickup. The judging crowd can't criticize them for not being correct. They are both crowd pleasers due to their modifications.
  19. Mine is for sale.... PM me for photos and description.
  20. As previously mentioned, this is my 1924 Buick pickup.
  21. Welcome Terry. Just so you know, the last split window and floor shift Buick production in the USA was in the 1938 model year. Buick was also known to ship previous year (left over) models internationally so they could introduce the new models in the USA. However, I have never heard of a two year gap like you have indicated.
  22. I am always pleased to see vintage buildings re-purposed. I was also very impressed with the Studebaker Museum in South Bend. They went out of their way to welcome Buick club members during their national meet in South Bend.
