  6. This process actually uses the weight of the car to hold the wheel in place while moving the car away from the wheel to be removed. If you don't have access to a puller, use the old timer's method is as follows: Jack up the opposing wheel Lower the wheel & tire on the side to be removed on the floor Loosen the axle nut flush to the axle end Use a wood block to protect the axle/nut Hit the end of the axle with a 5# hammer Repeat until the hub is loose
  7. The push rod may be too short. Remove the pump and compare the stroke length of the current rod (measure from the flat on the block) with the maximum stroke of the pump. These measurements should be close to the same. Also, remove any filters between the pump and the fuel tank that may be restricting flow. Gasoline is a low vapor liquid that can easily vaporize due to the intermittent characteristic of the stock diaphragm pump. If your filter is on the suction side of the pump, it may reduce flow as the filter becomes dirty. I always install fuel filters between the pump and the carb. to avoid this eventual problem.

  14. Please post the overall length of the manifold you need. Not everybody knows which year and model their loose parts came from.
  15. Tire cleaner/conditioner. Just make sure it dries completely and does not rub off.
  16. Terry, As I said, Teflon will work. However, it has a relatively high coefficient of expansion that will compress the packing on each heat cycle. Although Teflon packing will return almost all the way back to its' original shape, it will need more frequent adjustment than braided graphite impregnated packing that is made to work together with packing grease.
  17. Teflon is not recommended for hot water service. Yes, it will work, but will require relatively frequent adjustments and will eventually compress into a solid blob. As a retired pump and valve sales manager, I suggest you stick with graphite impregnated packing.
  18. Just keep it from getting wet, & keep the bugs out of your storage area. Most original wood frame components were not treated.
  19. I got my daughter to help me put the last machine screw in the 31 Buick Silphon unit. My fingers were too big. Then I topped off the coolant and went for a drive around the neighborhood to warm it up so I could see if the louvers fully opened. They did. Then I cleaned all the windows and checked the gas level in preparation for the Mackinaw Tour later this month.
