  1. All you used car dealers are the same………….😎 Would you take 20k? Just trying to be a typical newbie buyer. 🫣
  2. Too many people forget the joy of driving an early car. And way too many never get the project finished and it just gets passed on to someone else. You got to set goals and deadlines to get cars back on the road. One great way is posting your adventure here to keep accountable to yourself. It’s works great for me.
  3. Personally I’m dreading the day I need to use a mobility assistance device. Sitting here today sore from walking but it’s a good reminder to try and stay as fit and mobile as possible. By 4pm in the afternoon I want to punch the lights out of one of the obnoxious golf cart drivers and use it to get back to my truck in the parking lot. I’ll probably have to save the knuckle sandwich cart jacking till my final fall meet……..
  4. The day shift forward is nothing but positive for me and many others. Rain and the hurricane certainly caused a 20 percent last minute no show for people. Friends from Florida and the Carolina’s had wind/water issues. It’s interesting to see that the food vendors are lacking help. We have had great luck using Fire Department or Church Auxiliary to put up tents and feed us on tours and local events. I would think a local organization would be able to use the fall meet as a big payday for their organization. Maybe it just takes the right phone call to find someone. Hell, even a mobile fast food chain truck like we see at the state fairs would do ok at Hershey. The Chick Filet truck times five would be helpful.
  5. ADA rules can be hard to enforce what people use. You can actually claim you need a pick up truck to get around……..fact is there are some protections for events now in case law that allow them to reasonably restrict what type of vehicles are allowed. But you need to be willing to litigate what you enforce. Stopping all golf carts would be acceptable for everyone but emergency services. Then we would be dealing with a bunch more electric scooters. I was actually run down at Amelia a few years ago due to an old man’s stupidity. Got banged up pretty good, and I was on the sidewalk.
  6. I will NOT attend any on site auction that is charging a 15 percent bidders fee on automobiles. I understand the costs running a business. In this case, you want to bet the estate is paying ZERO for fees? That’s why the 100 dollars and the 15 percent. It’s a great collection, and many things there are unique. So they will get away with it in this instance. Normally I would attend just to chew the fat with the boys……….it certainly will be entertaining. If your interested just pay the 100 bucks for the spectacle………..he’ll it’s 200 to fill the tank on my Duramax. Fortunately there is a fantastic private tour later next week that I am attending. So missing it won’t bother me too much. I much rather spend time behind the wheel than at an auction. Whoever attends please post lots of photos and background info on the feel of the event. Thanks, Ed.
  7. Rear windshield for a skiff………?
  8. October……..👍
  9. The. Ame of this thread should be changed to - Hershey is Great!
  10. OK- I will complain about one issue…….the food vendors seemed diminished. Less choice, longer lines, none in the middle of the fields. Since I’m on a diet since Pebble (down 20) and have more to go I did almost no on the field food purchases.
  11. Since I started in 1971……….I shall opine: Hershey has always been evolving. I expect it will continue to do so. You can point to a dozen variables that affect it each year…….. Pennsylvania weather- cold, rain, wind Hurricane threats- before, during, after. Like this year where many couldn’t get out from Ian. On line & Ebay- just the modern world changing things. Age of membership as it applies to pre war cars. Costs- Time off, hotels, fuel, food, it’s VERY expensive to vend as a parts business. Mobility issues of older members…… Covid broke the routine of “every year” attendance and many took it as an excuse to give it up. You can probably list six more……… Were things different this year? Yes………we’re the changes more obvious than normal? Yes. Were there more empty spaces, and spaces used for parking than in the past, yes. Did I actually not walk some rows due to empty/no vendors……YES. A first for me. Did I see it all? Yes, but it only took two days of moderate pounding instead of three and a half of flat out pushing. Too much tag sale junk! I will be back next year. Found a few trinkets but really didn’t need anything this year. Enjoyed myself, and visiting with countless friends. Can the fall meet continue? Absolutely. Will it change and evolve? Yes. Will I continue to attend? YES! Can they control the spaces better to make more vending and less parking? Probably impossible to manage effectively.
  12. Since I wasn’t born during the Cretaceous period I can’t see what they called a refrigerator back then. That said, in my house we called it a refrigerator. 😎
  13. I have posted photos of my Pierce arrow refrigerator in the past.
  14. Overall a great time. Tuesday was a washout, but we made the best of it. I really didn’t have a want list, but did manage a 12volt horn for my White. Found a few small trinkets to flip……..we figure we paid for the airfare, hotel, and gas with just a few items. A 7 day zero cost vacation visiting countless friends. Good to see everyone, and sorry I missed some of you. Back to the shop Monday.
  15. It’s gonna be an epic Fall Meet day……..enjoy! 👍
  16. Why not just keep it and buy a V-16 to go with the book. Much more practical solution to the problem. Ask the wife…….she will agree with me.😏
  17. You need to speak to Charlie K, his handle on here is “just me” he IS the 1913-1914 Cadillac guy.
  18. Just a pick me up for Dandy Dave.
  19. This will be the first time I ever passed up on the fields in 50 years. Rain and cold. My Florida blood just won’t like it. Fortunately we will do other interesting things. Civil war museum, state house, AACA library, museum, and probably the Stroudsburg railroad museum.
  20. Nice car. Unfortunately, location is a huge issue. Flying in and out to inspect the car, and then shipping to the real world. Figure 5 to 7 k just to get the car to the cost on either side. Someone will end up with a nice car at a great deal.
  21. FYI……Most cars used different brake drums, and spindles for wooden artillery wheels and wire and disk wheels will 95 percent of the time NOT bolt up to the existing power train. It’s a bunch of work and effort to swap over. Cars have been driven billions of miles on wood wheels. My 1933 Pierce Arrow tipped the scales at almost 7000 pounds and they are not an issue. On a small car like a Buick, you probably have five times the safety margin of a big car. The only reason too change wheels is for looks.
