1. Hi, Dave...hope all is well, bud. I do not know about a source for the chrome speakers, however, wonder if the tiny screws are the same as the ones that afix the left & right pressboard panels where the driver's left leg/passenger's right leg would be. The screws for those are small. Best description I can think of, is, a small screw with a washer as "one unit". May have some and will get back. Please give me until Saturday. It would be a good time to go through all sorts of TR hardware that is just sitting there. I have no use for them. Will let you know what I find and send to you. Regards, Peter.

6. Hi, Pat... Have not received it here in Reading, PA, just 60 miles from Hershey. Now, if the mailperson swiped it, and, he/she joins the AACA, that would be worth it. (I picked up a copy at HQ last week.) Regards, Peter J.

8. Bluesmobile...Welcome to the AACA Forum. Definitely real with an interesting history, not to mention the hours of restoration performed by many volunteers. On the AACA Main Page, click on AACA Museum. Scroll down briefly and you will see the Diner dedication. Peter J.
9. That's the spirit, Susan. Your original post came across as a total negative Hershey Experience the way I read it. Keep up the "Positive Posting", not the "Negative Posting".
10. Susan, I fail to see your point. I Parked on the sloped hill above the White Field for the duration of the Meet. (It is grass, except, for the exit lanes.) No trouble at all with traction. Granted, if one would floor it, well, one would reap the benefits for thoughtless driving just like snow, or, wet weather. I would venture to say there were a relative few in comparison to attendance that had some sort of traction trouble, but, in no way would categorize a mass exodus due to parking in the numerous available parking locations. Looking at the posts concerning this year's Hershey experience, I, personally see that many had a good time. Know I did... (No different than booking a cruise 1-2 years in advance, only, to endure a rough sea, then, blame your disappointment on the ship's owner.)

12. Stude8...you may also want to make an identical post within the Studebaker Forum for more coverage concerning your query. (Scroll down the main page). Regards, Peter
13. Wardy...thank you for the update. Will look forward to the photos. Regards, Peter J.
14. Hi, Jay...hope all is well. If my memory serves me correctly, I believe it was Ron Green. (Amphicar, '55 Pontiac). May be wrong, however... ron.green@earthlink.net Regards, Peter J.
15. Hi, Chris...good to hear from you. Knowing you are one to venture into "new" methods of repair, or, recreation of old car parts, I must advise negatively on the manifold. As you mentioned, replacement is out of the question. I have no knowledge of that. Ask yourself: --Beside the holes in the photo, how thick is this obviously oxidized casting further into the part? --To weld, how thick is the part beyond the holes to withstand the welding? --How much use of the part do you plan based upon your approach to form 16 gauge steel to patch it? --If the Mig weld has leaks, where are the exhaust fumes going? These are my concerns based upon what you presented, Chris. That manifold is spent in my opinion. The radii where the flange meets the body is called a "hot spot" in molding. The flange cannot be too stable structurally to the integrity of the overall manifold. If you could blast it in a tumble-blast, I would bet more holes would appear quickly based upon only one area in the photo. Take care, Peter J.
16. My3Buicks... I made a statement to Dave@Moon in the Misc. Chat section relevant to your query. Gas prices sure are hurting all of us. Expensive, yes. For the immediate the price of gas to me means nothing compared to wondering how many people have died, are awaiting help to survive, not to mention the loss of their homes 'if" they survived. In my opinion, our hobby is an absolute "luxury" at this real time compared to what is happening.
17. Folks, Let's keep peace on this subject... M Herd is obviously a "new member" making a post that upset others. As M Herd has nothing within his profile, none of us really knows where he/she is coming from. Possibly someone in desperation, possibly a person with no respect to others, possibly he/she simply took John's post the wrong way. (I certainly have no qualifications to be the judge.) To M Herd: Not knowing who you are, or, where you are coming from as there is nothing within your profile, your post was taken in the wrong way by me, and, the people who are upset with your response to John. Giving you the benefit of the doubt and only my opinion: John, Dan, Skyking, myself, and, numerous forum members who have read your post have disagreed here over the years, have agreed over the years. Some of us, a few of us, many of us have met eachother in-person, or, chemistry has developed friendship over the years within this cyberspace media. Being a tolerant person, you came on here, possibly out of emotions/attachment to someone in the Gulf Area. None of us on the AACA Forum know where you are coming from... One thing is guaranteed: Your reply to John is not right. Totally offensive. He is one of the most sincere, well intentioned people we have on this Forum. John has always gone the extra yard to educate and demonstrate "true grit", again, in my opinion. If this is not satisfactory, or, you disagree contact me: pjheizmann@aol.com. We welcome new members, M Herd. Just be more tactful in a time that our Country has another major concern. If it was your emotions, well, share them. We all mean well on this Forum, we all come across in the wrong way at times. Peter J.
18. Hi, Al... As I mentioned to you, I fill in here as needed. Deleted the initiating post on 8/16 as I promised in my PM to you. Did you notice the action was taken before your post above? You do have a legitimate concern, Al. What is fair is fair. Regards, Peter J.
19. Hello, Mr. Earl...(I fill in here as needed.) Here is a test case for you: --Question: Bolt Strength --Hit Search --Key Words: Bolt Strength --Forum: AACA Tech Section --Newer Than: 0 weeks --Older than: 1 Day --Hit Submit I used to move threads to their proper Forum Topic as best I could keep up with for a good reason: Organization. Also, out of courtesy, always left a note as to where/why a Tech/Misc.Rants/etc., post was moved. That is history as it upset a few, so, you should click on All Forums when asking a Tech Question, or, any question. Beside the AACA area, there are many marque clubs, of which, have buried info now. This could overwhelm you, but, all applicable topics will pop up. Give it a try. Then, work on defining a "search word". Regards, Peter J.
20. Howdy, Wayne... That's Nelson Thorpe, Pat Thorpe's (ex98thdrill on the forum) father with his '40 Plymouth Woody.
21. Hello, Tinindian... Quite some time ago, we had a lengthy discussion concerning "bolts" as applicable to the same scenario you are undertaking. Had my metallurgist' and myself delve into it with a report on results of test case bolts. We actually "pulled" them as if a common test bar in the foundry and ran them through the spectrometer. Go up to the "Search" icon at the top of the page. Enter search word Bolts or Bolt Strength. If I recall, crystallization was also discussed. My advise, always, always pre-heat before welding so as to avoid thermal shock. Under a microscope, one can easily see the crystallization, or, carbides (white iron for lack of a better word). Regards, Peter J.
22. Very sad to hear of this, Wayne. Heard a lot about Buddy and when I asked Earl Beauchamp to introduce me to him at the Warren Meet banquet it makes our 20 minute chat more meaningful. As Terry pointed out, he was one great gentleman. Peter.
23. John, likewise. Nice chat with your family, too. Earl: Thanks for directing me to Buddy Brill at the banquet. Enjoyed finally meeting him. His '40 Cadillac is a gem. Great that you and Judy had a safe trip. What I really liked about the experience was the cross-over of history within City of Warren to the meet itself. Went there not knowing a whole lot about the Packard and related conception. Left Warren with a great learning experience. Karl: As John mentioned, the flood-gate is open with highway construction. Have a rather large account who is into the roadway manhole covers, riser-collars, etc. When I questioned them this past April why their 2005 production forecast was stalled, the answer was all the heavy rain in the early part of 2005. "Why repave, re-build roadways until the ground is stable?" Well, they certainly are making up for lost time. Have a good trip. Regards folks, Peter J.
24. More like young 'n dumb with heavy doses of peer pressure based upon the teamwork concept as I see it today. Back to the thread topic, please.
25. Had a great time in Warren. Many varieties of vehicles, nice park location, great Packard Museum, not to mention the people. Wayne: Met Buddy Brill. Earl pointed him out to me, went over and enjoyed the conversation. Now, John & Wayne: Are you guys trying to tell me I'm so short I have to look up to tie my shoe laces? (HA! ) No way guys, no low profile here. (Uncle Sam had a use for me as a tunnel rat. Proud of it.) Made it home OK, John. Hope you folks did, too. Karl: I-80? I took the Turnpike out and wanted to take I-80 back. My TR was parked next to Paul Mc Collam's '76 Ferrari. Paul is from Connecticut and took i-80. He said there was a 1 1/2 mile back up going into the construction. Both lanes merging into one. With that, I took the pike home. Regards, Peter J.
