1. John and Craig...Great!! Looks to be as interesting and fun as Roanoke and Greensburg. Regards, Peter J.
2. Hi, Ron... The foremost source would be the AACA Library & Research Center. Click on the Library section. There are self-explantory instructions. For a nominal fee, actual "research" will be performed utilizing a wealth of information, of which, the AACA Library retains. Copies of any pertinent, archived information can be sent to you. Give it a try... Regards, Peter J.
3. Steve, Earl, and, Terry...I will be there. Look forward to seeing you folks. Had a nice conversation with Bob Sturdevant and Charlie (Rice?) from Warren, Ohio at the Greensburg Meet. Meet literature cannot say it all. Bob and Charlie gave me an indepth rundown on the layout of Warren and the points of interest to see. Needless to say, the Packard Museum is forefront, however, the history of Warren and the impact Packard had on the community certainly peaked my curiosity to the point the meet will be a great time though 5 weeks away. Looking forward to it. Regards, Peter J.
4. Thank you, Jack, for sending the literature on the 1912 Abbott. Received it in good order. The Library & Research Center is most appreciative. Will deliver it to Kim Miller, Librarian next week. Regards, Peter J.
5. Earl, I echo your comments on Greensburg. Great job to the Laurel Highlands Region and the supporting local regions. Cannot add much, except we all went there to see great people all the way around within our club and hobby. Some vehicles got wet I noticed. Made them shine even more. (Gave us all a chance to see if the wiper motors actually work. Gotta' look on the positive side, especially, if one is dealing with Lucas the way I am..."they worked!") To each his own whether to take a car off a trailer or not. Personally, two miles of water certainly will not turn my car into a rust-bucket considering it was engineered for rain and compared to the 1-2 years of hard work our fellow members put into a "one day" meet. I am digressing, however, said it once and will say it again: "the AACA is a club. Large club, but, a club." Hope you, Judy, and, everyone else I conversed with this weekend had a good trip home... With tomorrow being a salute to all veterans, of whom, gave the ultimate for our country, I did something I wanted to do for a long, long time. Took a slow boat to China on the way home and always wanted to either walk a bit on this country's oldest section of abandoned highway. Just after the Sideling Hill (Eastbound) service plaza, I pulled over to what appears to be a birm pull-off. With trailer in tow, made a sharp right turn and was astonished that there was enough room to go through Jersey Barriers and drive along the abandoned section for 1.7 miles. Wanted to see the Rays Hill Tunnel, abandoned, however, at 1.7 miles, they put Jersey barriers laterally. One could easily trek about a mile to the tunnel. This section has not been used since 1968. (Anyone new to the forum, go to the "Search" icon on this site for interesting/relative chat from years ago...search word: Pennsylvania Turnpike, PA Turnpike. If you have trouble, give a yell. The "Search Icon is no different from YOUR Library and Research Center...they are not being utilized to their full potential. Both retain a wealth of knowledge coming from "fellow members" contributions.) The PA State Police have a "pistol range" set up about 1/2 mile into the abandon stretch. Some old Penndot truck tires are set up as a backdrop. It was really neat thinking how cars at the Greensburg meet up to 1968 last drove this stretch of the pike when they were new. Some poster on this site years ago made mention of the stretch where Penndot maintained an Eastbound section to test highway line paints. To me, it looked like legal graffitti...someone went nuts with a roadway line painting truck!!. Peter J. (Pedro from PA) P.S.- The smooch from Judy sure superceded not having much time to talk with you, Earl Now, driving a Brit car up the host hotel's wet, winding driveway, seeing an SUV in my mirror with the "AACA" plastered on the side was a challenge. Gave it my best "Steve" " Pink slips the next time if I can find the darn paper.
6. Jack... Have not heard from you recently. We remain interested. Regards, Peter.
7. cactusjack...Welcome to the AACA Forum. The AACA's Library & Research Center is constantly looking for research material to benefit current and future old car preservationists. Please send a random description of the items to me at pjheizmann@aol.com. Regards, Peter J.

9. Bringing the "original" Castings thread back to the top. Harry started another identical Castings thread. I do not want to lose the original contributing information/questions. The following 3 posts were from the 2nd "Castings" topic, of which, I deleted. Regards, Peter J. __________________________________________________ Member Reged: 08/08/04 Posts: 248 Loc: Atlanta, Ga. Castings #287389 - 03/31/05 11:21 PM (68.158.194.48) Edit Reply Quote I received a quote from Donsco a couple of weeks ago (3/18) on my E-mail from Peter Heizmann refering to my post regarding casting blocks for "L" Lincolns. These would be raw castings without machining. I thought Peter would post; however , he has not. To fill in those of you who were following the casting discussion here are the prices he fowarded to me: 5 pieces-$1912.79@, 25 pieces-$712.79@, and 100 pieces $487.79@. He thinks the quote can be fine tuned beyond these figures if they can see a block up close. The grade of iron and the machining cost have yet to be determined. I spoke with Soligen this week and they are still working on their figures. Their quote will include machining. These figures are not outside the range of cost I had in mind; however, I need to know what the machined ready to install reproductions would cost. I need Peter to get back into this disscussion to improve and refine these figures. Post Extras: Manage this thread Restorer32 Member Reged: 07/25/02 Posts: 658 Loc: South Central Pa. Yes, Jeff, the pattern costs are in the casting. The reason I have not posted recently, Harry, is, I am not totally ready to make a complete synopsis of the projects I have been working on for quite awhile. We are looking at investing $30,000 in equipment to make patterns out of liquid urethane and driven by a CAD model. In short, the only cost with this method would be the CAD modeling time. When I am ready, I will post. Regards, Peter J. -------------------- Peter J. Heizmann 1972 Triumph TR-6
10. pistoncollector...a good bet conerning factual data and copies of the same would be to contact the AACA Library & Research Center. (scroll down to the AACA Library icon). 16. Hi, Joe... Aluminum is extremely porous. Many years ago, we used to pour 319 aluminum corner castings for straight truck cargo bodies. Our customer requested what could be done to brighten the finish on them, especially, for regrigerated bodies. Cast aluminum will oxidize in time and the finish becomes a dark gray. Well, we polished some to show how it opens up "pits". Not pretty. As you stated, you are not looking for a polished/chrome look. Try buffing very gently to even out the gritty finish. As I have never had case experiences with painted finishes on aluminum, I cannot contribute on this scenario. I feel confident folks will submit their knowledge shortly. 17. Wayne, you must be thinking of Dave Hugo (48LCOUPE) from what I recall Dave did mention moving to Tennessee.
18. Charlie...Welcome to the AACA Forum. Let's see what responses you receive in the General Forum for awhile. You could also make a similar post in the Buy/Sell Forum for more exposure. Regards, Peter J.

24. Dominick...Welcome to the AACA Forum. My suggestion for good information with a personal touch and avoiding getting "burnt", check out the AACA Regions & Chapters listing for your state on the main page. Not knowing where you live, I feel confident there is a Region or Chapter nearby. You could tap the resources of members experiences and advice.
