  1. JTFord, a "new member" instituted this thread. Please continue assistance to his original query. (ALK decided to end his contributions. His decision.) Thread subject: <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">I'm a new member of AACA and I have a 49 Ford convertible. The car has been restored before I purchased it. The interior of the car is not stock but everything else is. Can the car be shown at a meet, maybe the DPC class? </div></div> Thanks in advance, Peter J. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
  2. vtlobsterchick...Welcome to the AACA Forum. Moved your query from the AACA Editors section, of which, is for AACA Newsletter Editors. There is an excellent "Picture Review of Jeeps from 1940 to the present" at http://summerville.novascotia.comm/jeeps/, however, none of the pictures show the plaid tops. An excellent chronolgy of production and history can be found at www.canadiandriver.com. I am quite certain folks will offer more information on this AACA Forum. Regards, Peter J. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
  3. JT...yes it was. Glad lkb's posts came along to bring the situation to light. Apparently, moderators, and, some other folks had access, assumed as long as one was a logged-in, registered user, all was well. Obviously, this was not the case, and, it will be corrected. Personally, and on-hindsight, I often wondered why this Advertisements section had little activity. Just assumed it was of no interest. Reminder: It was created at a time that "commercial" entities to include suggestions to check "E-Bay" were innundating the Buy/Sell, of which, was intended for "non-commercial" sales by members. Regards, Peter J. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
  4. Leo...not here 24/7. 2-3/7, yes. Had no intent of staying on-line through the night. Could only assume it is easy to scroll down the main page.In fact there are people who frequently use this site and go no further than the General section. Whatever, had to free up the Buy/Sell, or, a person's single post would get lost/buried.
  5. When you see the "Welcome Car Enthusiast's" at the time you come onto the site, hold down your "down key", the arrow key that points South on your keyboard in the lower right. Keep it down as the "main page" scrolls through the topics and there it is. Do not open Buy/Sell then scroll down as you will not see it.
  6. On the Main Page that lists the General Forum, Tech Questions, Buy/Sell, etc., keep scrolling down and it is there. Regards, Peter J. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
  7. Please note the "yellow right arrows" next to many lkb posts for great cars for sale. These were moved to the Advertisements for Commercial Services section. The reason being twofold: 1. They belong in the Commercial area. 2. Too many posts (interesting cars) that would make it hard to see individual items for sale. Scroll down on the main page and all are there for your interest. Well worth checking them out. Regards, Peter J. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
  8. Larry... Please reference the PM's I sent you. I will post and keep it at the top within the Buy/Sell to refer people to the Advertisements/Commercial area. As I explained today, the overwhelming numbers of posts will bury someone's individual Buy/Sell item. Trying to be fair to everyone. Let's give it a try and, hopefully, come to a mutual resolution. Regards, Peter J. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
  9. Hi, Diz... Sent him a PM requesting moderation and reason so as not to overwhelm the site. Asked him to provide his website as the contact point. I'll go from there... Regards, Peter J.
  10. mypridenjoy...Welcome to the AACA Forum. Upfront, what are your goals, purpose, and, overall intent? It would benefit all of us to at least enter an e-mail address within your profile. There are many owners, of whom, are very protective of their vehicles location, so, to request photos and descriptions without you providing intent, will not generate the best response. Regards, Peter J. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
  11. SB717...Welcome to the AACA Forum. We can leave your post here for a few days to see what response you receive. Then we can try the Buy/Sell Section. Suggestion: Scroll down on the main page and you could also post the query in the Buick Club of America forum. Also, just advice, please consider placing an e-mail address in your User Profile. Someone may want to contact you personally. Never know. Regards, Peter J. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
  12. Hi, Harry. Likewise, hope you had a great Holiday. When I get back to the grind after 1/1, I will be tabling running old auto restoration castings with Don, and, all of my management. At least I peaked Don's attention to the problems past, present, and, future hobbyist are facing. I will be back on this topic soon. Regards, Peter J. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
  13. Joe...This subject has been discussed quite often over the years. There are many good posts on Edsels in the "Search" archives. Click on "Search" above and use Edsel as the search word. Regards, Peter J. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
  14. <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Pedro, Jan, personally I think the room we used last year gave everyone more time to meet each other. The box lunches aren't anything like St. George's, but at least you weren't in a hurry to order, eat, and get back in time for the next seminar. Wayne </div></div> Wayne, I'll start a thread in the General Forum and also contact Mike Jones so he can reserve the room like last year. Will wait for Mike to get back on room availability. I don't want to assume the room is open. Regards, Peter J.
  15. Hi, Jan... The building, of which, the proprietors of St. George's leased space, was torn down to make way for an office building, or, something like that. I'll try to make time somewhere to see if there is any place nearby comparable to St. George's. Regards, Peter.
  16. Matt, thank you for the detailed response. Makes sense to me. Regards, Peter J. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
  17. Interesting question, Joe. My thoughts are the advertising folks, newspaper/magazine columnist', and, the reception thereof by the consumer to accept your descriptions. From memory, or, lack of, going back to the '60's... --Sports Car: A secondary vehicle utilized by an above average income person to play with on weekends. (Just like a lawnmower...take it out of the shed when one feels compelled.) --Muscle Car: Same as a Sports Car, only larger and utilized for the most part as one's "main car" and must be washed on weekends due to daily use. --Pony Car: My best guess is advertising gimmic from Ford touting the embossed "pony (mustang)" logo on the seat backs as the marque progressed, then, everyone owning a standard Mustang used "pony" within their parlance to describe any Mustang. Bottom line, the newspaper/magazine/manufacturers coined the titles... Just my memories and opinion. Regards, Peter J. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
  18. jaxops...felt compelled to put a plug in here for the following AACA Magazine advertisers, of whom, have provided excellent plating services to many of us: Librandi's Plating 93 Airport Drive Harrisburg Int'l Airport Middletown, PA 17057 www.carchrome.com Ph: 717-944-9442 - Todd Librandi ________________________________________________________________________________ Frankford Plating, Inc. 2505 Orhodox St. Philadelphia, PA 19137-1683 Ph: 215-288-4518 - John W. Barger ________________________________________________________________________________ The Finishing Touch, Inc. 5580 Northwest Highway Chicago, Il 60630 www.thefinishingtouchinc.com Ph: 773-774-7349 ________________________________________________________________________________ These are only 3, of course, and only my opinion for good suppliers and supporters of our club. Regards, Peter J. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
  19. Nick... Try posting in the GM Products section to see what, if any, responses you receive. Scroll down on the menu page and you will see it. Regards, Peter J. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
  20. Securitykey...Welcome to the AACA Forum. As there are no responses and I cannot attest to any experience with them, try the "Search" icon at the top of the page. This "Auto Transport" subject has been discussed many times and at length. Many experiences about various companies. Type in search words: Auto transport, car haulers, shipping, etc. As for time span, punch in "all" as this goes back at least over a 4-5 year period. There are many posts sitting within the "Search" service offered by this AACA Forum that cover a miriad of subjects. Regards, Peter J. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
  21. Hi, David...check is in the mail. Regards, Peter J. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
  22. Coley, you may want to check with your DMV. Also, Broadway Title Co. They advertise "Titles, No Title/Lost Title". "No previous paperwork required." 1-800-464-3222 titles@broadwaytitle.com Regards, Peter <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
  23. Great, Harry... As you appropriately mentioned previously, replacement castings is and will continue to be a critical availability issue with this hobby. Let's keep this going within our capabilities for the current and future old car nuts. Have to put in a plug for the "Search" icon within the header for anyone reading this thread. Castings (Exhaust manifolds, heads, odd-ball parts) has been discussed at length over the years, and, the very interesting comments, or, experiences of many knowledgeable forum participants sits there awaiting your view. (Not just castings...whatever your query, check it out.) Regards, Peter.
  24. Matt and Harry... Just a suggestion to a much wasted function on this forum...click on the "Search" block at the head of the page. Punch in Insurance or Castings. So many of these subjects have been tabled in the past and the information is just sitting there. Try it...
