1. Cuz...scroll down the main page. There are many marque club forums, some by product (GM, Ford, etc.) Also, the General Forum generates discussions on Pre and Post-War. Peter J.
2. Wayne & Glory... This is much appreciated. I echo the other folks...Thank you! Regards, Peter J.
3. Sounds good, Brian... I posted in the Moderator's Forum that the powers that be please read your post. They will see your request to hold off until hearing from you, but, will have a heads-up of a potentially great improvement to Forum "customer service". Regards, Peter J.
4. Brian and Howard... Excellent idea to add a Pre-WWII Technical title block. I will make a post in the Moderator's section to bring your ideas to the attention of the Internet Committee & Webmechanic to add this. Regards, Peter J.
5. Pistoncollector...Welcome to the AACA Forum. Your query is right up the ally of the Library & Research Center. On the main page, scroll down to the Library title. You can obtain copies (nominal fee) with indepth details by contacting Kim Miller, Librarian: kmiller@aacalibrary.org or: AACA Library & Research Center P.O. Box 417 501 W. Governor Road Hershey, PA 17033 (717-534-2082) The L&RC has a huge collection of vehicle related information that has been accumulated since "1935-2004". Regards, Peter J.
6. Kevin...getting back to the original subject, could you tell us how you are doing in acquiring judging rules? Let us know if you require further assistance. Regards, Peter J.
7. Harry...good point. Should Gary check the "Search" topic, this was discussed at length, and, is inclusive. Must add, that your suggestion applies to stripped threads on old Fe castings (Head, Manifolds, etc.), too. Most old castings look good on the outside, what oxidation is going on in the I.D. is unknown to the naked eye. Regards, Peter J.
8. Gary... If the engine is at room temperature, I cannot fathom that a cast iron part would warp upon removal as there is nothing affecting the Fe micro-structure (absence of heat). This is based upon not knowing if the head has warped from past use. If the engine has been in frigid condtitions, then, take the head off, you could crack the weldments further, if not create more damage. For references, go to the "Search" icon at the top of the page and punch in "Welding Castings". This subject has been discussed at length some years ago and there are many experiences posted by contributors. As for replacing the gasket, that is not within my knowledge. Personally, if I were to go to the trouble of taking the head off, repairing the head, I would certainly replace it. Just my opinion. Regards, Peter J.
9. Hi, Randy... To contact the AACA Library & Research Center, go to the AACA Main Page, scroll down to the L&RC. Therein, you will find self-explanatory instructions/form to fill out. With spark plugs, it may warrant a phone call to Kim Miller, Librarian of the L&RC at 717-534-2082 for assistance. Regards, Peter J.
10. Kevin...Welcome to the AACA Forum. You can obtain a copy of "Official Judging Rules and Guidelines" free by attending the next Judging School at a National Meet. Or, you can obtain one (I believe for $4.50 per copy) from National Headquarters (501 W. Governor Ave., Hershey, PA 17033. Ph: 717-534-1910. The manual lists clearly all of the classes available to-date. Also, you can scroll down to the "Judging" topic in the left hand corner of the website main page. Regards, Peter J.
11. studeboy...you may also want to scroll down on the Main Page to the Studebaker Products Section and post the same there. Regards, Peter.
12. Pat, thank you for submitting this info. Regards, Peter J.
13. Nice of you to make this offer, Harry. I will post in the Moderator's Forum to bring this to the attention of the Internet Committee, of whom, have the decision making powers. Please be patient. Thank you, Peter J.
14. Harry...excellent thought and well taken. Just my opinion. The website's Tech Questions area is presented to tap the years of knowledge and experiences from Forum Participants. To boot, that is why guest marque clubs are partners here to add a well rounded availability of resouces with a somewhat "personal touch". Takes bodies and "cost" to man what you suggest. There are many sites existing within cyberspace to answer parts availability. (Hemmings, e-bay, and, countless vendors.) The "Buy/Sell" section is made available on this Forum. This is what we have to offer... Again, my observation... Peter J.
15. Olympic...Welcome to the AACA Forum. You may want to phone the AACA National Headquarters (717-534-1910) for assistance. May be a question for the Hershey Region, however, National could steer you in the right direction. Regards, Peter J.
16. I, too, agree that this is a great idea. --David...your idea. Please continue to manage your concept, digest the input you receive here. Then lean on us for whatever assistance you require. --Ron and Judy...thank you for the offers to utilize the button equipment/supplies. --Diz...I concur that our "forum handles" should be forefront. After introducing ourselves at various meets, we'll all get to know who-is-who. My thoughts are a "yellow" badge with a bold-type "DF" then one's screen name in bold-type should do. Although logos are nice, it will make it hard to read as other's posted above. (Diz...I'll give you a hand checking the NFL Roster for what team Sadie is playing linebacker. It is only appropriate that we invite her to the next DF Meeting, if, for any other reason, than, finding out where she is coming from telling us to get a life. Maybe a free button would do it?) Peter J.
17. Hi, Keith... "...make it consistent." ? I have been to 17 National and AGNM Meets. The only way I see to make it consistent, if I read you correctly, is, have the same judges at every meet. This, of course, is impossible, as judging is a hobby unto itself with in the AACA. (Not to mention, hoping the same judges are in the same mood at every meet.) In my case, I have owned the 1972 Triumph TR-6 since new. A friend suggested in 1996 that I enter it. Well, in 1998, was the first year I did at Hershey. Received a 2nd Junior and was elated. Went back to Hershey in 1999, thinking, a 1st Junior was a given. No way...received another 2nd Junior. After that, I asked myself just how serious I am about this. The car has never been taken apart. I spent a lot of time detailing components, had it repainted, and, no problems since. It is currently a repeat Senior AGNM all within a 4 year period since I became serious about it. (I also sinned and actually put 1,098 miles on it in the 4 years. Drove it to Hershey this year solely to hear young people say nice MG, mister. For whatever reason, most young'ns think all British Sportscars are MGs.) Regards, Peter J.
18. packard 116... Just a suggestion...if you scroll down the main page to General Motors Products, subtitle: "Pontiac / Oakland", you could receive additional attention to your query if you post the same there. Regards, Peter J.
19. Larry... I think I can attest for all of us on this forum, that, your health and recovery is more important than the Hershey Meet. Will mail a copy of the meet brochure ASAP, however, please forward a mailing address via private e-mail. Take care, Peter J.
20. Hi, Jeffrey... You may, or, may not have observed that our Executive Director, Steve Moskowitz, posted some time ago, that, meet results will be published "on-line" in lieu of upcoming issues of the AACA Magazine. (Go to the AACA Main Page and scroll down to Meet Results. Normally, it is about 10 days until meet results are posted. Due to the size of the Hershey Meet, I would think it will be somewhat longer. Please take into consideration the enormous amount of work the AACA Staff must face this Monday, back at the grind. You will see them on-line shortly. Patience, please... Side thought: Do you know anyone in your class that attended the banquet. Possibly give them a call? Regards, Peter J.
21. Now, Thomas, that sounds like a plan. Come on over. We have room... Regards, Peter J.
22. Hello, Thomas...nice to hear from you. Do your best to make to Hershey 2005. Lot of people would enjoy meeting you. Regards, Peter J.
23. Hi, Dave... I stopped by for roughly 3 hours this afternoon. With excellent weather reports for the duration of the week, you certainly picked a good year to go back to Hershey. (Have a safe trip tomorrow...) As for what is left, send me a private e-mail, as I do not know what you may be looking for in particular. I will be going back Thursday afternoon and could search out vendor sites. I picked up a copy of the meet brochure that lists all the vendors by location, wares they are pushing, etc. Again, send me a shopping list. I'll be home tonight and could at least send back vendor locations. Regards, Peter.
24. Hi, Cyndi... My recommendation would be to go to the Main Page, scroll down to AACA Library & Research Center. Within the L&RC area, you will find a request for such detailed information. The AACA has a full time staff awaiting to research for you. The collection of material is enormous... Regards, Peter J.
25. Bringing subject back to the forefront...only a few days left. The DF'ers will be holding our traditional, informal meeting within Class 5 on Saturday of the Car Show. Nice venue to meet people, of whom, you read their posts on the Forum. Regards, Peter J.
