  7. Just my observation from being in the used car market for most of my life. Most byers wanted to make their cars over to what they thought looked good . So every used car we . Put on the lot had the fog lights removed along with the after market sound system rubber band tires rear deck mounted spoiler under car lighting musical horns . Then they would buy it and put a lot of the same things on the car and then would say my car the beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.
  8. Let'sthink out of the box if the oil pump is capable of 60 # cold I would rule out the pump. The pressure regulator only limits the maximum oil pressure similar to a pop off valve . I would lean towards oil breaking down when warm . What is the curb idle speed when warm. You should have about 8-10# pressure per each 1000 RPM. So idle at 800 RPM= 8# road speed of 35MPH just a guess of 3000RPM would = 24 # . This just a common rule of thumb. Mike

  12. Just my 2¢ as soon as the engine starts all of the slack closes up and is not a problem. Some what like the old steam trains as they. Started up each coupling would click as the slack was pulled up afterward there would not have any slack. Just set the timing per the manual and let it rest.

  16. Just a thought. What if the oil pump shaft slipped up some ( out of the gear ) could take a long screw driver and turn the pump shaft and at the same time applying downward pressure to try to reseat the shaft.. or check the depth from the face of the block to the bottom of the slot in the pump shaft that way you would if the problem is in the oil pump or the distributor. Just thinking. Mike
  17. For what it's worth I had my engine in and out like you are doing in order to get it in I had to trim the flange off the cross member in order to get the. engine level so the flywheel pins would slide in freely and not bend any thing. Mike
