Is it electric start. ? Mike. From culver -
Hi I'm just going to tell of my 1st experience with my D/B 1918. I bought the car got it home installed a new battery electric fuel pump only pumped while the engine was not running if the engine was running the generator started to charge the fuel pump would stop. ( found out the pump was polarity sensitive I had the new battery in negative ground car was positive ground worked fine after changing cables around) Mike

It was a 23 7 passenger Buick I think I got 14 ft of it . I soldered the wire arm of the float mechanism (put a hole in the end of the float cleaned and tin before hand used a electric iron) also got a cable adjustment sleeve / nut and 2 small cable clamps for the thin inter wire all from a bike repair shop in Valparaiso Indiana the adjustment sleeve / nut was to fine tune the gauge all I need to know when it was low on fuel. I hate to ask my wife to walk to town for more fuel -

Hi I fixed my 23. Used bicycle shift/ brake housing has a smooth nylon liner and water proof. Got some stainless steel spring wire was about the size of your hair . The bike cable comes in the bulk. The float was from Snyder's I punched a small hole in the end and slipped it on the wire end a drop of solder sealed the hole and also attached the wire. -
I started out with one of the neon trimming lights very dim. Good thing about it was you could dangle it on wires and get it close to the trimming marks. For years we all used white touch up paint tubes .parts dept. Would give it away if it was an obsolete color of white or any light color.

Ed. Thanks for the information about the arrow in all the books I have on Avanti there has never been mentioned about the arrow thanks I have found out about another fact. My back ground. All most 40yrs as and alignment technician used Hunter. Bear and my old friend Jim Beam all good equipment. My point is and was all 3 companies do not make wheels and would not be an expert on why a wheel failed only that it did fail I saw more wheels fail in the center some from loose lug nuts some just plane over loading side stressing. Thanks. Mike
-
Champion did not design any ignition systems they only make a device to ignite the fuel charge. Hunter doesn't make wheels or have a degree in metallurgy. No Judge would allow their testimony that they are experts in wheels or ignition system
-
I don't know the answer to the logo please inform me . Back to the wheels Hunter makes top of the line equipment don't get me wrong but that's all the make ( no wheels or rims) that would be like saying Champion Spark plug Co were electrical engineers and a expert on ignition systems all Hunter sees it the results. My 2¢ Mike

Point well taken sorry I got off of the subject . Mike

Matt please take your place at the head of the class. This sounds like the global warming story if you ask me. I'm running radial tires on my 1963 Avanti for about 25k miles and yet to have a rim problem and it's been coast to coast hard.

Ok here's my story. Brought an Avanti with a check Told the used car dealer I would come back the next day to pick it up. He called the next day said he could not sell the problem with the title. I went up there ask for my car or my check he did have my check or the car He told me he would give me a check on his business. Ok went to his Bank would not cash the check I did not have an account there . It's your customer I told the lady well ok it gets better now she tells me they do not have that much cash in the bank even with cars from the ATM machine. Will I take a cashier check. You better not charge me for it. Ok lesson learned. Mike

Mikefit replied to Crazyfamily's topic in Buick - Pre War
Not sure about your car. But my 23 the ignition key was the same as the transmission lock had a key cut at a lock Smith for the ignition switch and bingo it fits the transmission also. Mike
