The fedco and engine number are only loosely related as stated above. The only place the original engine number is recorded is on the build card. Chrysler Historical likely has a copy but I don’t believe they will send it to you anymore. It does look like a very nice car and it seems like it might work out for you, good luck.

RE3 is a May 1929 build date. Chrysler changed wire wheel design and hub cap size from the exposed lug nuts to covered sometime in the middle of the production run. I believe if you measure the wheel you will see it is 19”, which would be correct for the car. From what little else I can see, the car looks correct(front bumper excluded). I am not familiar with the 4 cylinder, but I believe it is just an oil slinger at the rear so you will have some seepage until the oil is at the proper level. Now the real question is do YOU like the car? Can you see yourself enjoying the car? If so, then buy it and enjoy it, you will not find another one. If not, then help her sell it on here.

I have discovered that the search engine isn’t as robust as it could be. There are things don’t come up in the search but if you go to the webpage for a public library, the same search term can bring up more material. For example using the link above and searching for American Underslung doesn’t bring up a lot but going to the NY public library site and doing the search again brings up a neat color brochure from 1909. If you have a particular car or brand that you want to research, try the link I posted above and then go to the individual public library websites to do a deeper search.

If you haven’t tired this yet, you better set aside some time. I’m attaching a link to the Digital Public Library of America search tool. I typed in Roadster and just wasted part of my morning, next up is Speedster. There’s a lot of great stuff to look at here so get comfortable. DPLA Search

According to my Chilton Interchange you the 1929 model 65 matches 8 other cars Chrysler ‘28 62 ’29-‘30 66 ’29-‘30 70 to serial 17075 Dodge ’27 124 4cyl ’28 128 4cyl ’28 Victory 6 ’28 Standard 6 ’28-30 DA6 This is from the 1934 Chilton Interchangeable Parts Handbook, it has come in handy a few times and can be found on ebay.

Just call your credit card company. Tell them that you have been trying to return the item that doesn’t fit and you can’t get a response from the vendor. They will start a dispute on your behalf and either get a return started for you or give you a refund and do a charge back to the vendor. Remember your credit card company works for you and they have a process for this exact scenario.

I finally got a chance to hang my cabinets. I still need to arrange the lower cabinets, install the lights, build the countertop, paint the walls and put down epoxy on the floor. Once all that is done then the real work can begin.

I recently moved so just got around to renewing. I was able to do it online in just a few minutes including updating my address, zero issues.

Gary, The wiper motor on my DeSoto is similar to this one on eBay. There is a small knob that you pull out to turn on the motor.

I don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up, but I do have a mold for one of these. I bought it on eBay several years ago and haven’t had the time to have it checked out yet. It looks to be well made and the seller stated that it had been used to reproduce the saddles. The mold will need to be checked by a foundry to see if it is useable and if/how much shrinkage was allowed for. It did come with one original saddle the was used to make the mold, so I can have a sample made to see how close it is to the original. It is currently boxed up in sitting in storage. I don’t expect to get it out until April at the earliest, but it is in my list of things to do. I will update when I do have it back in hand.

Gary, I don’t have my parts book handy to look up which type our cars use. If it’s the inline type try Restoration Supply If it uses the recessed type, then you just need to measure the diameter and compare to a modern Stant that you can get anywhere.

Per the parts manual you need Rear-Fender-Left-Sedan 336321 Rear-Fender-Right-Sedan 336322 Those part numbers are unique to the CK and to the Sedan, if someone has a Chrysler, Plymouth or Dodge parts manual they can look to see they are used on any other models.

The fabric roof was used only in the first part of the production run. I bought one in WV on eBay ~5 years ago. The seller stated that he had a valid title but it somehow disappeared after the auction ended. They eventually produced a title but it had the engine casting number as the vin. I got my money back and it sold again to who knows where. No way I’m taking on the DMV to get a vin correction, I couldn’t get them to do a mileage correction even with their own paperwork showing it was their mistake. Do you have one of these? I’d like to see a picture if you do.

The golf carts are the problem, not the mobility scooters. The scooters are small and slow, the golf carts on the the other hand are not. I witnessed several close calls, the worst being at the pedestrian bridge. To add a little perspective to the size of the swap meet, I walked about 1/3 of it in 22,000 steps covering 10.8 miles. So I have no doubt that there are a lot of members who would need some assistance to cover that distance.

Looks like you have a real project there. It will take a lot of work to bring it back to stock. Best place to start is with a parts manual. There are reprints available from a few vendors or on eBay. Look in the Plymouth forum for parts, you may want to look for a parts car because of the amount of parts missing and the the frame has probably been modified. Good luck.
