  1. AACA & BCA I’m probably a member of about 50 Facebook groups that are marque or model specific. As much as I don’t like FB, it’s often the best source for technical information on many cars I own.
  2. I assume choosing the dates was a board decision, not administrative?
  3. I can’t help but think that Grand National attendance was hurt by the fact it took place on the same day and about 3 miles from the BCA national. I would have attended both if they were on different days. How is it possible for clubs to schedule their events in such a way that there is a conflict?
  4. Back when my dad owned my car (probably in the early 70’s) he was asked to drive it in a parade to introduce the Goodrich blimp. If you have never heard of this blimp, there is a reason. The “blimp” was a fat guy who road in the rumble seat of our car on his way to being formally introduced. Somewhere, I have a picture I’ll look to find. And yes, I’m serious.
  5. I’ve had work done by Imports Unlimited in Highland Park and was very happy with them. A friend who has had his Jaguars maintained there for decades referred me to them. The shop will seem like it’s in disarray, but the owner Dave is super knowledgeable and fair. http://imports-unlimited.com
  6. I have the heater out of my ‘30 Buick. DM me if this will work.
  7. If the goal is to seal a few areas of the car, maybe temporary silicone caulk would work? I’m referring to the kind you can seal home windows with in the winter and easily remove in the spring,.
  8. I just went through the thread for a second time. Great work! I may have missed this, what did you do for the fuel pump? Is there a supplemental electric one? And did you add a filter anywhere? Thanks
  9. Scam: https://www.autoevolution.com/news/1966-batmobile-replica-took-9-years-to-build-texan-batman-fan-proud-of-his-work-90340.html
  10. That’s a movie I have to watch whenever I come across it. Jackie Gleason as Buford T. Justice never gets old.
  11. I believe it’s a mid-60s German Ford called a Taunus.
  12. Which model do you use? It looks like they have car and truck tires, but no trailer tires, based on their web site. Thanks.
  13. Try calling them. They replaced mine under similar circumstances. I think Stanley owns them now.
  14. I believe that car was last seen leaving the Kennedy compound.
  15. I enjoy doing shows and find that the occasion of people not respecting my car is extremely rare. When it does happen, it’s almost always a child not old enough to know better with an inattentive parent. Quite often, I’ll see a kid who really likes my car, so I’ll offer to let them sit in it. Their eyes go wide and they look at their parent with surprise and for permission. When the parent says yes, they get in gingerly and almost always have their picture taken. The whole thing ends with a sincere thank you from the parents who are delighted to see their kid so happy. To give them both this treat is super enjoyable for me and hopefully something that will plant the seeds for a next generation enthusiast. Obviously, we all enjoy the hobby our own way. As much as I love driving my cars, sharing them with people at shows is almost as satisfying. I’d say the one thing you need to be careful of is sometimes other kids see this and want in as well. It doesn’t take long for a line to form.
  16. I wonder what sort of treasures will be buried in the rubble. I owned a century old building for a while and whenever we did work, we'd find an interesting old relic.
  17. I was just looking at the registration form for the show and it states the first 200 cars get a goody bag. So maybe I'm wrong about it being small. One of the cool things about the show is trophy winners get to drive a parade lap around the old track. I received Judges' Choice in 2018 and got to do it. The front straight is still there, but the rest of the track is a narrow nature trail. Still, it was pretty cool. If you go, shoot me a DM. I should have a car there along with all the other shows I posted.
  18. I have a bit of a bias towards Road America. To give you a sense of it, I’ve instructed my family to scatter my ashes there after I die. I’ve never been to the fall vintage event, but the summer one has always been great. If you head up there, the Harley Davidson museum in Milwaukee is really good. And that’s from a guy who is not fond of “The Motor Company”. There’s also a Wisconsin Automotive Museum, but I’ve never been and can’t speak to it’s quality. https://wisconsinautomuseum.com There’s a car show on September 11th at the old, long closed Meadowdale raceway in Carpentersville. Not a huge show, but an interesting mix. The weekend after RA vintage event, Eyes on Design is going on in Dearborn. http://www.eyesondesign.org/carshow
