  1. You're right, the blue one is in much worse shape. The brown fenders and grill on the other one would make it a non-starter for me. My car is a similar shade of cream, so I'm partial to that color. Of course, the lack of a choke knob would make the blue one a non-starter, literally. ☺️
  2. Good points. Beyond the color being correct, I didn't give it a good look. It seems like '30 46s coupes pop up for sale every 6 months, which is surprising to me. Here's another one:

  4. I had my '30 restored, and can say with painful certainty you are right.
  5. One with a more original restoration sold yesterday for $15,500. https://kraftauctions.hibid.com/lot/80566319/1930-buick-series-40-coupe?q=buick
  6. I would be very surprised if the rules of the lottery don't have a force majeure clause for instances like this.
  7. The winner wants a very specific configuration.
  8. Those seats look mighty comfy. If I see this car at a show, I might ask you to let me take a nap for a bit. Congrats!
  9. Wrong again. I do appreciate the admission that you are not the most literate. 😝 There is a prize and he will receive most of it now. $250,000 cash. The car will probably take a little longer.
  10. No you didn't. Did you read the article? He's a jerk because he is involving lawyers and the courts for a situation that can be resolved without them. All it requires is a little patience. When a once-in-century pandemic happens, most people are sympathetic to the fact things might not go their way. He's also a jerk for trying a case like this in the court of public opinion by announcing it on social media and trying to embarrass others for something beyond their control. The win is an embarrassment of riches and this dude wants to be seen as the victim. Colossal jerk, IMO. The used car dealer point is to illustrate he may want it now simply because they are in short supply.
  11. This is a covid related problem. Corvette production was dialed back because of the pandemic, something the lottery could not have foreseen when they created this game. The winner is an ungrateful jerk, IMHO. People are suffering real hardships now. Poor baby can’t have a Corvette now. 😩 Wait 6 months and enjoy the money you won in the mean time. He is also a used car dealer, so perhaps his motive is a quick flip?
  12. Bingo. Tesla doesn't make batteries, Panasonic makes batteries for Tesla in Tesla's building in Reno NV. The giant casting machine shows off Tesla's innovation? Nope. It was developed and built by Italian company IDRA. This guy sent CPAP machines to hospitals and claimed he sent ventilators. And on and on.....
  13. Looks like someone repurposed an old boat by flipping it upside down. Kinda cool, actually.
  14. WHN IM 64 (Beatles song When I'm Sixty-Four) 6T4 RIV 6for RIV LXIV RIV (64 in roman numerals) MCMLXIV (1964 in roman numerals)
  15. As I said above, I’ve been in Matt’s shoes. The thing about operating in this era is everybody has a megaphone. You don’t need to be right to get your message out and harm a seller. You only need to have internet access and a flare for colorful language. This is why stupid warning are on products. I’ve had to give caveats to people only to have them respond, slightly offended, “do you really think I’m that dumb”? I answer, “I don’t think you are, but I’ve had others who were”? Someone used a hair dryer in the bath tub. It’s better to undo a fair deal then live with the rage of an idiot. After a while, you learn to eat a pound of poop and still smile with white teeth.
  16. I owned and ran a retail business until just recently. My experience is probably like yours in that the vast majority of customers are very decent. Unfortunately, there's always the handful that prove the adage "when you think something is idiot proof, they build a better idiot." When you're feeling the pain from this guy, try remembering the scores of great customer interactions you have.
  17. Bummer. I grew up in a GM house (not that anyone worked for GM, we just only bought GM cars). Having a Chevy or a Pontiac was like rooting for the home team. But, your experience is consistent with my expectations of their current quality. ☹️
  18. Along these lines, another piece of advice I give people looking to start a career is to tell everyone you know or meet what you are trying to accomplish. There are almost always connections you were not aware of that will can be very helpful. Great advice. I was fortunate enough to have three. So much of what I have accomplished was built on the lessons and encouragement they gave.
  19. McPherson College is the only place I know that has a program. Before you invest the time and money, see if you can get an entry level job at a restoration shop, sweeping the floors or whatever they need. Its a way to learn some basics and see if it’s really for you. If you do decide to pursue it with the intent of owning your own shop, take some business management classes. I amazed at how many talented, would-be business owners I meet that can’t read financial statements.

  21. In my Figaro, I installed a Kenwood amp that has Bluetooth connectivity and wired it to the stock speakers. It’s under the passengers seat with the remote sitting in the ashtray. When I’m in a car with no radio, I use my iPhone with a JBL Flip 3 Bluetooth Speaker. It’s small, sounds great and has really good battery life.
  22. If you're looking to pass the time with some racing books, here's a a few more that I liked: The Limit which is about Phil Hill and Wolfgang Von Trips battle for the 1961 World Championship Speed Dual about Art Arfons and Craig Breedlove's battle for the land speed record Black Noon about the tragic events of the 1964 Indy 500 Blood and Smoke about the events leading to the first Indy 500
  23. The Tesla model is to make money selling ZEV credits. Back that number out of their financials and they never made a profit.
