  1. Looking at the bounce rate for some topics and the site as a whole, it appears a lot of people use the site for answers, but don’t get involved with the AACA. Are there reports that dig deeper into these visitors behavior?
  2. Here's something I think is interesting. The thread below was started and last posted to in 2012. Yet, it was the 123rd most visited page. Of the 3,425 views, 3,221 entered the forum on that page. Also, of the people viewing that page, 93% exited the forum from that page as well. This implies that a fair number of people came here only to read that thread. Their likely not forum members, so who are they are where did they come from? And yes, I did work in marketing research for a spell. ☺️ Now, back down the rabbit hole.....
  3. Thanks for the link. Even more interesting. I think the issue, if I understand the report correctly, is that if someone goes to a topic without first going to the main forum, they are not counted in the forum total. For example, the Mark Smith thread was the highest rated topic at 7,184. To get the absolute total for people looking in the General forum, you would have to add that and all the other topics views in General to the forum total. I mostly use an activity stream, so a handful of my views would be included in the Forum totals.
  4. Interesting information. I'm a bit of a data nerd at times, so apologies in advance. The pageview numbers don't add up. The top 20 are only 26% of all pageviews and there aren't enough other forums to make up the remaining 74%. Is there a 0 missing from the #1 forum total?
  5. What’s the cutoff date for vehicles allowed to participate?
  6. Small cars make for an easy tow. This is a snowmobile trailer.😁
  7. Great idea for a thread. It would be cool to have a show with only survivor cars. Here’s my ‘39 LeSalle with less then 27,000 miles.
  8. The car isn’t a 60 Series. The biggest tell from the pictures is the golf club door, which should not follow the curve of the fender, as pictured below.
  9. My sister was going to consign a car last year. The structure of the deal, IIRC, was she gave them an amount she wanted to net. If they felt they could sell it for enough to meet that and make money, they’d accept the car. They verbally agreed on a net number. Where things broke down was them wanting an indemnification and a complete waver of liability. It was more of a risk then we thought appropriate.
  10. That’s my understanding too. https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-drop/n-2023-10.pdf
  11. I bought one of these about 6 months ago and I'm very please with how it works. The first point I need to make is these are not Costco lifts, they are made by BendPak. Some observations: The build quality is very good and I was surprised by the heft. Each lift weighs about 100 lbs. Assuming you have lifted the car from a solid jack point, the stability is very good. I do put a jack stand under each side when I'm working under the car, but I feel I'm being over cautious. There is only one lock on each side, along with the hydraulics as a backup (which I doubt would be much help in the event of a collapse). The one improvement I would make is adding another safety lock. The biggest surprise is how high the car is once lifted. Yes, I had the measurement from the listing, but experiencing it in reality is a different thing. There's enough room under the car I can lay on my side, on my creeper, and still have plenty of space. I've only lifted lighter cars so far, so I can't speak to your application. However, I'd have no hesitation to lift my Buick when the need arises. The only issue I've had with these is some of my cars have a short wheelbase which makes positioning the lift a challenge.
  12. Thanks for posting this. My experience is similar in that I see a healthy amount of young car enthusiasts and interest in cars. People who hold the opposite opinion might want to consider changing their surroundings.
  13. AACA & BCA I’m probably a member of about 50 Facebook groups that are marque or model specific. As much as I don’t like FB, it’s often the best source for technical information on many cars I own.
  14. I assume choosing the dates was a board decision, not administrative?
  15. I can’t help but think that Grand National attendance was hurt by the fact it took place on the same day and about 3 miles from the BCA national. I would have attended both if they were on different days. How is it possible for clubs to schedule their events in such a way that there is a conflict?
  16. Back when my dad owned my car (probably in the early 70’s) he was asked to drive it in a parade to introduce the Goodrich blimp. If you have never heard of this blimp, there is a reason. The “blimp” was a fat guy who road in the rumble seat of our car on his way to being formally introduced. Somewhere, I have a picture I’ll look to find. And yes, I’m serious.
  17. I’ve had work done by Imports Unlimited in Highland Park and was very happy with them. A friend who has had his Jaguars maintained there for decades referred me to them. The shop will seem like it’s in disarray, but the owner Dave is super knowledgeable and fair. http://imports-unlimited.com
  18. I have the heater out of my ‘30 Buick. DM me if this will work.
