It is nice to have as many of the original factory options on one's car if restoring it. If an ORIGINAL car, then adding them affects the value. Dual quads certainly look great, and yes the performance is increased, but the price has always. been prohibitive and continues to be for the restorer on a budget.

hopefully someone will repair the car. Too much history at its old age to just let it go to the scrapper

the original liner and cardboard is readily available in the aftermarket and the guys do a very good job with it, not worth trying to make

never a build sheet with mine, and my Dad and I bought it new. Protecto plate, built expressly for, and window sticker, as well as the bill of sale Funny, we all know that the first generation mufflers go bad quickly: Well my Dad got a midas muffler right off with a lifetime guarantee. Muffler after muffler was installed free by Midas. Well YEARS later, I had the car, the muffler was bad: I went to Midas and showed them the guarantee, and sort of as a joke mentioned that although my Dad's name and mine were the same, the guarantee was for my Dad. They immediately replied: Don't give another thought we will honor the guarantee! SO the car has had only one paid for muffler in its life and about ten or so free ones!!! What a guarantee!

POR 15 is definitely to seal rust, and not to be shown, it also needs to be top coated, NEVER use it where something will be seen, it is just too crude for that.

a true American hero, he did not have to run out to try to save his buddy at Bastogne but he did anyway without a second thought. Too bad it put him out of the war, he was quite the fighter and probably would have gone on to perform many more acts of heroism.

Gene is a GREAT guy. His Dad was one of the original Band of Brothers, and was instrumental in making the series which we all throughly enjoyed. May those brave heroes all rest in peace.

I have three originals that have been rechromed that I am not going to use, and I am sure that Gene Guarnere has these rechromed parts as well as he has been specializing in rechromed Riviera trim for awhile now.

I like the green "cold" light, lets one know that the engine does not need to be pushed, as it is still cold and maybe even the choke is partially on making the mixture way too rich for normal driving. Too many old engines wore out prematurely from automatic choke partial failures, or not knowing how to use a manual choke on those cars (not Rivs!)

Yes the power steering is very light feeling, like previously stated just part of the experience. You could make sure that you have radial tires inflated to the proper pounds and then make sure that the alignment is done to the radial tire specs that are different than the original alignment specs for the bias ply , that will make a difference for sure, and maybe install Toms quick ratio box, and Bilstein shocks and GS springs

Thank you, very much. I went down the the dealer in West Hartford Connecticut in May of 1964 to get it with him. He was the most thrilled I had ever seen him in his life before or after. Being 12 years old, and used to seeing all of the tail fins and bench seats, I could not believe we were buying this fabulous looking car, as I remember I compared it to a space ship, with the four bucket seats and console at an angle, and POWER WINDOWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would agree, that the car became so popular that there was no reason to "give away" a leather interior, so it was dropped as standard equipment in 1964. However, one would think that since they already had it designed and fitted, that they would have made it an option in 1964. My Dad really wanted to have leather, but by the time he saved his money to purchase his (my) Riv, the best he could get was the deluxe interior (which is really nice anyway, and Still looks good after all of these years (the leather sure would not!!!)

I agree, a good ac shop is well equipped to remake the original hoses. That is what we always do when we need them. Best thing is that you have examples, so they can duplicate exactly

Why can they just take a car that needs a total restoration to do this butcher job? More work, but at least they are saving another Riviera, rather than sacrificing one.
