  1. The vultures are a nice touch.
  2. About the same thing happened in Minnesota with the people in Bloomington. Jets were flying in and out of the MPLS airport since the 50s and the complaints started in the late 70s with the housing boom.
  3. Any ideas on this pair? Nickel plated, 9" fork mount, about 7 1/4" X 7 3/4" Monogram lens.
  4. After the war my father would pick up old outdated cars to scrap. Drove most of them home, the interior was gutted and the tires taken off then they were set on fire. He drove late 30s Dodges or Chryslers through the late 50s. In January 1960 he bought a white & red 1958 Plymouth wagon. He was not a car guy.
  5. My 1954 New Yorker got 22 MPG on the highway, 15 in town ( 331 with a 2 barrow carb). The 1967 Morris Minor 39 to 42 MPG all the time.
  6. Any ideas on the make on this early fan? There are no numbers or markings.
  7. Change the title to something with 1933 Plymouth in it. A location will help also.
  8. In the 60s & 70s I was given several cars. The 62 Buick Special that had the wrong wheels jammed on it. A 63 Rambler American 2 dr that a towboat cook hit the wrong petal while a bit drunk drove it in the water and got the dist. wet. A nice 1964 Dodge Dart 440 2 dr that was low on tranny fluid and hardly moved. 2 Corvairs that had oil leaks and no heat. unbelievable? In 1974 there was almost a recall on 1959 & 60 Caddys for the Pittman arms. I was given a 1960 Coupe DeVille that was sitting in a truck stop parking lot, loss of steering. I guess I was the go-to guy for getting rid of cars in the small town I lived in.
  9. I was hinting Factory Air like in the adds that say "Has Factory Air" The air in the tires would be contaminated with the rubber gassing off.
  10. Someone just posted in Pre-war Period Photo section a 1917 Saxon Chassis he has in a shed.
  11. My Grand Father had bought a new tractor in the spring of 1929 with a big bag of silver dollars. He lost all of the livestock and had crop the crops fail for a couple of years during the dust-bowl in the 30s. He and the family moved from the farm outside of Pierre South Dakota to Durand Wisconsin with what they could store in or on the car. Seven of the family members lived in a 12 X 12 house/cabin on an acre, he took a job with a lumber company at almost 50 yrs old. My father with the catch of the day
  12. The images are a bit stretched left to right. The second maybe a be 1912ish Locomobile
  13. Trucks and trailers to my understanding need to have a rigid "safety bar". This is to keep cars from going under before they get crunched.
  14. "OLD CARS" a bi monthly magazine puts out a price guide each year as a reference based on sale results and condition. This will only give you a ballpark number, many cars or trucks of a specific year or Model may not have one sold in years so they are an estimate.
  15. From an old book about radio repair. Murphy's Law points out the the circuit is there to protect the fuse. Also the law of gravity is that a falling object will land were it will do the most damage.
  16. That Coupe had been sitting since 1972 and I picked it up in 2008. I think the fabric was just rotted and I have no idea when it was "fixed".
  17. I had a 26 Chrysler Coupe that I think had a tared roof put on with a pudy knife. I am not positive because on the way back from picking it up the whole top fabric blew off in one piece on I 70 leaving only the chicken wire.
  18. The 58 - 64 had the X frame that was not to good for the dirt stock car track or in a wreck. (I had a 58 Chevy stock car in 1970)
  19. Could be a Stude also Franklin and Jordan used this style' Some one will chime in, I can't make out what is stamped on the top but STANDARD.
  20. The door will be unlocked with the key, if you are on the inside you can unlock the door with the handle. They both unlock the door latch unless there is a problem.
  21. It looks kike a Model 72 Bottom of the radiator shell, Head lights with a conduit, temp. sender in the head, and the tapered bead on the fenders. No cowl lights on the 62s.
  22. I had the top of the line 1987. It was a great riding car and was very peppy with the little 2.2 Turbo. The down side was all the imported electronics they used. Your head lights can be buffed out and last a few more years.
