New magazine in the mail

Recommended Posts

I got mine today! So did Mike! What did we win????

Note to West Peterson, Love the front page scenery. A farm or rustic background is the best possible backdrop for a beautiful car like a Z28 Camaro. Well Done.

Now, let me read the rest of it.

Mr. Walters, you need to find something more constructive to do with your time! Don't ask me or us about the ad as we do not design ads...they come to us camera ready! Apparently the auction felt that if you were really interested you would go to the website to find out more info instead of bothering your poor beleaguered executive director! BTW, in case you do not know, it is in Pennsylvania, home of chow-chow, shoe fly pie, etc.

Don't feel too bad novaman. I'm a member of the AACI, based in England, and I get my club magazine before a lot of the other members that are right there in the UK. Apparently the Royal Mail is even worse than our USPS as there is one member in particular that lives "within spitting distance" (his words) of the office the magazines are posted from and I get mine before he gets his! Go figure?!? Carl

Well, apparently those to the west & those to the east in NC don't get their service via postal yak. Even neighbor 1/2 mile away got his, but no such luck yet here. Won't hold my breath either - I will probably see it when it's tradional for me, the week of the local club meeting (which will be on the 16th this month). I know several other of our region have gotten 'em 'cause an email had gone out on Saturday saying that they have arrived at one member's house so be on the look out.

Wish they'd dispatch the postal yak to my house already....

Actually, it's mainly 'hilly' here in McDowell County. If the Model T were coming from Asheville down Old Fort Mountain, with gravity & a strong tail wind, it might get cranked up to 45. On the other hand, if the club's biggest T nut were driving he's been known to get one going a scary 60! Glad I wasn't riding with him when he passed the member with the '65 Ford truck doing 55 in that T!

Thanks for the "beautiful" comment on Judy's 56 Buick, Mr. Earl. By the way, I thought I was the "Buickman"? That's what they always called me when I was a teenager in Arlington, VA!!

Now if I can do my "own" (and very last) restoration as well on the 39 Special convertible coupe, I'll be as happy as my wife Judy is with the 56 Special. Still wondering, should I do it in the original Lassen Green, or go for black or dark non-metallic blue? Hmmm, decisions, decisions. Believe it or not, this one is almost as unbelievable colorwise as the '56. Originally it was Lassen Green with a Red interior....musta been a Christmas present....except it was one of the last, built in late June or early July. Woe is me, what should I do? Green with a Cream interior? Blue with a white top and red interior, or blue interior? Black with a black top and red interior? Bet everybody's got an opinion.

By the way, still no regular magazine delivery here in Sebring, FL on SAT, June 3rd.

Earl D. Pearl (heck, you alrady have "Mr. Earl") .....remember that song, "Wolf Creek Pass" where Earl dumped that load of chickens at the bottom of the mountain? Wonder if he drove a Buick too?

Slack up on the "Mint Julep", Earl, it's getting to you.

As for colors, I'd like to see the green with the cream interior. Makes me "green" with envy just thinking about it.

Even without a picture of diffent color combinations, I'd go for the orginal especially since it was a "odd, rare, etc." combination. My hat is off to the guys (and gals) that don't go with the flow and use the popular colors.

It's like the Willys Jeepsters from '48 to '51. The majority of them are red/black and yellow/black. Seldom do you ever see the two-tone green, blue/black, and all black Jeepsters. These are the color combinations that are "lost" for the publice to view because we tend to restore cars with the popluar color combinations.

novaman, A friend and fellow club member, Bill Davis, has a Rolls that he brings to Hershey a lot of the time. It is pea soup green. Very plain looking compared to the other Rolls Royces he has. Lots of people ask why he used "that horrible green of all colors". He has even overheard some pretty rude comments about it. He restored it to it's orginal color. It's as simple as that.

well.. it is 14 days after the Antique Automobile was mailed out.. and as per Steve Moskowitz's request, I was getting ready to send an email stating we had not received our copy. However, I thought I better wait to check the mail one more time just to make it officially 14 days. Looked in the mailbox and I see it has finally made the 65 miles to our house!

Until last month, we usually received it in only 3-5 days. I guess this is still better than last month as the first copy mailed still has not made it.
