I've heard a few people mention that they would love to have a triple-black Eldorado of this generation. We may like the color combination, but would it be a good collector car? How did a south Florida resident survive in a sweltering climate in an all-black car?! However, since there is only one picture, the car may not be ideal. Even if it is good cosmetically, it still may be needful mechanically. Its supposed low mileage might be because it was stored for many years and not driven, perhaps needing substantial work to make it reliable again. I'm sure Matt will check it out carefully with all his experience. I hope I'm wrong, and that it's the satisfying fulfillment of a dream. It's certainly a sharp color combination. It appears that this black example isn't quite as nice as people were expecting. In fact, that Ebay link says it sold from Cape Coral, Florida for only $6900 on August 19, 2020. I suppose the seller hasn't taken down his Facebook ad yet; or since the location is now different (Ohio), is it a new owner trying to flip it for $11,680? The Ebay link has quite a number of pictures, in contrast to the Facebook ad; and a phone number too. Here are some pictures from Ebay and the text of the ad: "1969 Cadillac Eldorado handicap equipped 21k orig miles cool low rider project" "1969 Cadillac Eldorado. Very solid straight body. No rust on the frame or floors, doors have no sag and close very easy. Has new tires and exhaust. The 472 engine sounds great, everything appears to be working as it should, a/c feels like it is cooling, all interior lights including trunk light works. It appears to be original paint and is starting to show its age, no attempt was made to run a buffer over it yet. The handicap controls are for your left hand to accelerate and brake while steering with your right hand, looks like it can be easily removed if not needed. Original spare tire and jack are still in the trunk well. I have video of it running I can text if you would like to hear it. There are a few bubbles in the corners under the vinyl top, there is a chip of paint missing on the driver side front fender. I took a picture of the title from 1985 showing 5600 original miles, now it shows on the Florida title 21,000. If you would like to call 239 six82 3two85 for more info. Thanks for looking!" I want a '68 with folding headlights and the 472. Looking at those photos, I'm pretty sure it's 121,000 miles... I may still go take a look. If there's enough there that I can clean it up, give it a deep buff, and give it some life, there might be a way to make money on it. A bit of caution, Matt: Further research should be done to verify whether that material is correct for the seats. I have the 1969 Cadillac color and upholstery album. Cadillac offered several different cloth patterns over its various models, but nowhere is there the cloth shown in this black example. For Eldorado, there is "Dominion cloth," a very fine herringbone shown in black only; and "Dubonnet cloth," a fine striped material whose stripes run parallel with the car's length; but nothing like what is pictured. However, the leather and vinyl bolsters and trim bands on the seats look correct in this black example. Could Cadillac have changed their cloth offerings during the model year? Perhaps. But your future customer probably wouldn't want to pay full price if the interior really is incorrect. The dashboard and door panels are similarly plum-colored. I've had it out for drives twice in the last week. Before I got mine, I saw another one on the internet. It had already been sold by an antique-car dealer. This one had a white interior: I've also seen pictured on the internet a Lincoln Mark III in virtually the same color. By the way, when I was a kid they were everywhere in the neighborhood (Dayton was a big GM town), but I recall the Oldsmobile's being turquoise and the Cadillac's being brown. Totally unrelated, but when I would go out walking in Toledo in law school, I use to pass a swamp rat of a powder blue Tornado convertible of maybe 1972. I think that for "performance" cars you always like to see painted. Although I have seen some cars where the contrast doesn't look too bad. For this Eldo the painted top looks great. The estimate is an art and they may go higher or lower depending on how much action they think a car might see. On a widely desirable car they may go low to attract interest, while on less desirable one they may go high to get action when its "selling way below estimate".
