Naw, it's stuck there. Back during the 2008 financial crisis it was ABOVE Par.

Could've, would've, should've.

On another note. There were two 1st generation Rivieras at BJ Westworld this week. With all the rain here in the dessert (typo on purpose), a car cover on a full custom '64 (bump for hood ornament and side scoops). The other was a 1963 long term family owned. Will follow-up on them:

👍  That is an absolutely beautiful color combo inside and out.

SOLD for $30,800 at Barrett-Jackson this week.

I find "no-reserve" a nail-bighter.

The power vent windows are very rare

I would like to say the wiring route for the power vent windows are not good. I can read a wiring schematic good enough to realize this was an after thought design. For the well versed electric wiring minded gent probably no big deal. I sold the wiring harness for the power vent windows and I was not impressed with the design.

My "new to me" 65 Gran Sport.  I have paid for it, but it hasn't been picked up by the shipper yet, but I am still considering it mine now. :>)

This car was a frame off restoration, started the work 1992, finished in 2000 (two different shops). Same owner since 1986 or so.  Numbers and colors matching.  Fully factory loaded with nearly every option that was available.  Sold new in Evansville IN, and that is where I purchased it from.  Was listed on Facebook Marketplace.

Needs a little freshening up again, but very good bones and real nice looking car.  I hope to be able to see it in person soon, lol.

Looks great!  Did they throw in the factory radio?  I was lucky to have AM/FM pushbutton still in my 22 option special order 64.

Thanks.  No, he didn't save the radio, but I can find one easily enough.

Evansville is a good place to buy a car from, the weather is mild. I have a Riv which came out of Evansville and it is very clean.

Did you buy the car from John Moore?

Tom Mooney

No, seller's name was Robin.

Thanks, Chris

Triple black '65 Riviera GS Super Wildcat -- what's not to like...?  ;)

Beautiful car; enjoy it!

that was what I was thinking too, so I had to buy it.  Once I get it next to my red one I will figure out which one I like better and what my next steps are.

64, but should look similar:

That is a 64, you can tell by the accessory/courtesy light/antenna plate but the knobs on the radio are from a 1965.  Apparently the radios are the same, only the knobs are different.

I never realized they were 65 knobs.  (This is doubly strange because the car had a 65 overhead switch panel when I bought it) They even have the fader wire for my 2 speakers.  All are in perfect condition.  I need to find the same thing in 63/64 style.  All the ones I see on line are pitted, broken crap

The panel in the car is a 64. In ‘65, the “lables” for each accessory were separate and screwed onto the panel with the proper switch.

Here is a picture of a 1965 radio in the dash.  The “labels” for the antenna and courtesy light are separate with the switch.   Put them in any position you want.  If the owner of this care desired, he could swap places for these two switches. You will also notice that the trim around the radio is black as is the rest of the dash.

Sometimes our cars are not as "original" as we would like to think. 60 years is a long time ...

That's a bunch of red.  Claret Mist?

Deanoko, it is a repaint. I have no problem pointing out the color may have a tad bit of orange. The think the orange throws the color as “ wrong.” I do not worry nor will I repaint. Only sharp eyes and guys like us will notice, if at all. The color is known as “ Grenada Red.” Thank you for your comments.

I cannot find what I did with it, but I was given the tweaked formula for Claret Mist that the Best in Show 1964 was painted by the guy who was the tech advisor for the ROA.  Sorry but I cannot remember his name off hand. But he tweaked the original color enough to really make that car’s paint pop.  I don’t think the pictures for ROA meets go back far enough in the Riview to have a picture of that car.  In the sun, the car was brilliant.

Our eyes as they age, at least mine, see things differently as our judgement sees things different.
Viewing different shades of powder coat material drives me over the edge. I dare say the descriptive paint codes of yesteryear matching the written color description of the car saves our bacon. It was funny when a gent mentioned he had an original brochure in outstanding condition showing the 63 Riviera air filter holder. The gent maintained the color on his 60 year old brochure was accurate. I took exception  and asked if the paper brochure had not faded over 60 years?

I’ve found that different computer monitors show the same pictures in different shades.  I had a full sized monitor connected to a laptop.  I could look at the same picture on each and the color on each would show up in different shades.  Nothing but the naked eye will give you the true color.

I believe that was Carl Blackard’s car. He had his own paint and body shop and did some work for me. Nice guy and very knowledgeable. I miss him.

Thanks for jolting my memory, Steve.  I too miss conversations with Carl, he was an amazing source of information. My car is finally getting to the paint stage after replacing all the brake stuff and anything and everything that is rubber.  It will get painted a Claret color as well - from a Lexus color chart - Claret Mica.  I’d post a picture of the color but every picture of it shows up differently depending on the lighting.

So, My '63 is an early production and does not have ribbed paneling on the instrument panel. It does however have that leatherette treatment  for the radio and console. With the dashboard bare, it would be easy to continue with the same leatherette on the whole dashboard like the '65s which I regard as killer. But, in doing so, the current visual impact of that black treatment flowing from the radio down the center will be lost? The '65s contrasts that black instrument panel with wood grain flowing down the center from the radio and thus maintaining that impact.

Best to leave my '63 dashboard alone.

Here is the Glove Box Door with a bit of the radio plate on the left:

All 1963s, custom and standard interiors, had black vinyl on the console, from top to bottom.  In 1964, standard up interior cars replicated the 1963s; custom interior cars had the 1/4 sawn walnut top to bottom.  In all 1965s, the radio surround was black but the rest of the console pieces were 1/4 sawn walnut.
