  1. I think it will help this discussion if someone will post the actual language of what change has been made and what is now allowed.
  2. Robert, Just a little more information. What do you "dress" the tires with?
  3. Also try posting in General Discussion above.
  4. This is for a convertible. A friend posted this on my computer while I was logged it. That's why there is a difference in the name. Responding here is ok, he will get it.
  5. Keiser31 Look at the front fenders again. I think this is a Desoto converted to an export Plymouth.
  6. I need the chrome w/ black rubber moldings that run the length of the car. Thanks John
  7. There would not be a deduction for not displaying the top.
  8. When I was 3 years old and cried when Dad traded the '50 Pontiac torpedo back on a '56 Buick Special. I climbed up in the package shelf and rolled down into the back seat at the first stop because it didn't have a rear seat back higher than package shelf like the '50 Pontiac.
  9. If you really flooded it, the spark plugs could be wet and the cylinders washed. You will need to pull the plugs and let them try and squirt a little oil in each cylinder.
  10. I have a 1965 Thunderbird that I purchased from CA a few years ago. The seller drove the car from CA to NC with no problems. On one of my first drives of the car, the master cylinder failed. I was able to steer the car into an uphill parking lot and get it stopped. Towed home. Replaced the master cylinder with a rebuilt unit from NAPA. Bench bleed it before the install and all seemed great. Two days later, I drove the car again and the master cylinder failed again and I rear ended another car at a stoplight at about 10 mph. NAPA replaced the MC as defective. NAPA and insurance covered all damages. Now to the questions. The replacement MC had a warning tag that said "Do not bench bleed. This unit contains original style seals" NAPA had no idea what this really meant nor did I. I bleed the second MC installed on the car, but am afraid of another failure. Any clues?
  11. Check out our Buy/Sell part of the forum. This is just a little above your budget. http://forums.aaca.org/topic/257247-1969-olds-cutlass-s-convertible-fs/
  12. Local AACA Chapters do not have to follow National AACA Classes or Judging rules for a local show. The are mostly able to do as they wish, which is what was done at this show. Since you refused to pay the admission charge and apparently did not ride into the show in the show car, I'm not surprised they did not let you in. Sorry, but that's life.
  13. Your car actually calls for 7.60 x 15 tires. Don't know who gave you the wrong info. It will steer much better with the correct bias-ply tires and it will look better. Dave
  14. [member='61polara' Great picture. This photo is from the Automotive Department of what is now NC A&T State University in Greensboro, NC, chartered in 1891 by the State of North Carolina in part of the state university system
  15. Great job of engineering. You should have planed for this change from the start. Chrysler used transmission mounted parking brakes through at least 1961. Why don't you also adapt the transmission brake to your new transmission? Would save a lot of work and you have done a great job adapting the transmission to the engine.
  16. I'd love to see someone restore a 318 Charger since most of them were built that way. I'm planning on keeping my 318 Challenger conv as a 318 car because no one else is doing them that way. The 318 is a great engine. Your cost will be much less going this way as well. It takes BIG bucks to do a conversion to a big engine right to get the big bucks at a sale and the numbers won't match if that maters to you.
  17. Matt, I corrected the math at the bottom of the post but not the points comment at the top. It's correct now. An incorrect rim at 2 points and a missing factory correct hub cap at 3 points is 5 points which is the same as an incorrect tire at 5 points. Thanks for pointing out my error.
  18. Looking at the 2015 Judges Guidelines: Rims 2 each Lug nuts 2 each max 10 Hub caps 3 each Tires 5 each I just verified these from the on line edition This would mean that a car with mags, incorrect tires, 5 wheel lug nuts including a matching spare should receive the following deductions: Tires=5x5=25 Rims=2x5=10 Lug nuts = 1x5x4 = 10 (maximum of 10) Missing Hubcaps = 3x4 =12 Total deduction = 57 If these are the only deductions the car would score 343 and could receive a 2nd Junior since the minimum for a 1st Junior is 365. All of our judges should look closely at this. Cars with these issues should receive the correct deduction at the Junior level to prevent these issues from arising on a car that has made it to the Grand National level. Note that the deduction for the incorrect rim plus the missing correct hubcap equals the tire deduction per wheel.
  19. exbcmc, "Carbking" on this site is not "Karb King" you are looking up on Yelp. Carbking has been providing excellent advice here for years. His contact info is The Carburetor Shop LLC (of Missouri) 573-392-7378 (9-4 Mon-Tues central time)
  20. The '42 cars had chrome until January 1, 1942, after that no chrome.
  21. Great find Rusty! Know you can learn the wonders of vacuum shift.
  22. Your photos clearly show 8 R46TSX plugs not AC 44 and the other three photos don't show a plug number at all other than one box end. What do you really have? Please correct your post.
  23. eboose7 Nice car, thanks for bringing it to Charlotte. Congrats on your First Junior!
