  1. Roger, I am in southern NH. I am interested in it. Send me a PM. Thanks, Tom
  2. Desire a straight and rot free body. Mechanicals are of lesser importance. I have a very rough and rotted '48 super sedanete hardtop that is basically only good for parts. Will consider Roadmasters also. Thanks, Tom
  3. Looks good. Could you tell us what the main ingredient is in that solution? Thanks, Tom
  4. Sounds like you need to drag home a car without her getting involved. She will hate you for a bit - she will hate the car for a bit longer. But eventually she will give up and go along with you, just to see your happiness. Some women - mine included - just cannot envision a finished product. Put your foot down and make it happen. Good luck. Tom
  5. Try the Ford Truck Enthusiast forum - you might have better luck.
  6. Chalk one up for those Packard engineers! Your persistence certainly paid off - sure beats pulling that hunk of iron out. Great job. Tom
  7. That photo of the dampener shows that it appears to be in two pieces. Uncover the paint and you may find it to be an easier job than you realize... Good luck, Tom
  8. Check the high tension ignition coil to distributor cap wire, perhaps there is an open at that section, as it was moved during repair.
  9. Fender skirts? Stainless trim?
  10. Pete, I could use the fender mounted fuel tank door from the '41 fastback. Thanks, Tom
  11. Wish I knew about this a few weeks back, as I was at the Big E swap meet on the 18th. I was awestruck at the magnificent oversized buildings - especially the one currently occupied by an insurance company - forgot the name. Did not realize that the Duryea factory was nearby. Thanks for sharing, Ed. Tom
  12. Could the spark plug welds be analyzed by a metallurgist? Evidence of arc or gas welds? That would perhaps date it somewhat.... ie: a later hacker did it or not. Perhaps the plugs had a different thread pitch than on the head - cut one apart to find out why it was welded on to begin with. My opinion: Stop wasting your time on speculating - refurbish it and drive it, as you will have something no one else has. Good luck.
  13. Location? If near southern NH - come on over, I can use a grunt in exchange for my old car experience. Good luck, Tom
  14. I assume your body identification number is 1499. Look at the lower RH box in the attached photo of my parts manual. Are you fabricating 31.059? If so, the part number is 363001. I do not have any more information or drawings of the part. Hope this helps somewhat in your quest. Good luck, Tom
  15. David, I have used the rubber that roofers use for rubber roofing - works great. Good luck, Tom
  16. Stay away from those junkers. Find an old heavy duty beast with a blade welder. You want rigidity and power to cut stock. You will regret owning those flimsy bandsaws. Good luck. Tom
  17. I take it as zip code 12180 - Troy, NY. No idea as to local to you specialty shops, though. Good luck. Tom
  18. Ask over the HAMB forum, as rodders are not worth much over here....
  19. Dang Ben, Can I pay you a visit again?, as I want to record your experiences before history is lost forever! You are a wealth of knowledge! Did you ever consider writing a book? Missed you this past Saturday at Kimball's Farm. Take care, Tom
  20. All cars need work. If you are looking to make money - collect coins instead. Do what fits your budget and have fun wrenching on these ol' clunkers. Ask 10 different people and you will get 10 different answers, blah, blah... Not intentionally trying to be crass - but people should not have to ask for advice when choosing between trades, styles, etc. YOU are the one who lives with your final decision - not the advice givers. Good luck. Tom
  21. Am I correct in assuming that your tub has to be filled with a solution in order to work? There is no drum barrel underneath the tank? If not, can you add one and plumb the motor inside the barrel? How old is your unit?
  22. The beauty of technology, eh? How about describing the setup?
  23. Rick, I would gladly take a picture of the inside, but not sure what you are after? It is a bit of undertaking to get it apart and see a pump submerged in kerosene.
