  1. If you must use a set screw, use two of them placed one on top of the other. This is to reduce the risk of loosening up during wiper operation. Good lock.
  2. Hi Dave,Be careful for what you wish for. Myself, I occasionally rebuild / repair / restore / recurve distributors to original specifications. I own three (two working) distributor machines. In addition, I have a machine shop setup in my home shop (three milling machines (one is a two axis CNC), and two lathes. Four tons of weight with just those five pieces of equipment. But I do not advertise for work - this is a hobby of mine. Oh sure, I have thought about doing this on a commercial scale - but I am not sure if the market for this type of service is sustainable, for living wages, that is <grin>. The point I am trying to make is this: Do not count out the home shop / hobby types. If I am not mistaken, you yourself have a home shop restoring pianos. If I am mistaken, please accept my apologies. Good luck. By the way, I am in southern NH. Feel free to visit sometime, that goes for any member of this forum also.
  3. Gathering parts for an early period motorcycle build. Would like to acquire a carbide headlight and tail light. Some early manuals / books on this subject would be great also. Thanks, Tom
  4. How about removing them for this upcoming test?
  5. Hello, Looking for a spare 15" wheel. Must run straight and true. Surface rust is OK. Thanks, Tom
  6. Hello Don, Would you have a wheel for a 1941 110? Thanks, Tom
  7. Jeepers, I posted in wrong area. Could this post be moved? Thank you.
  8. Would like to purchase a spare steel wheel or two. Must run true, no heavy rust and have no curb crashes. Thank you.
  9. The roller assembly can be installed complete, you only clip onto the motor/regulator arms when the frame assembly is back inside the quarter. Clear as mud yet? Wish you were closer, as I would help you out. Good luck.
  10. I have two flat water pump pulleys of unknown application. What is your bolt hole number / spacing / thread size? Water pump shaft diameter? Threaded or press fit on pulley to shaft interface? You could have one made quicker than you could perhaps find one. Good luck.
  11. You are better off to remove rear seat and interior panel and take out regulator assembly for service. Clean old crusty grease, etc. Replacement rollers could also be made from aluminum. Your location?
  12. Umm Jim you strike me as a greedy person looking to hook in fellow like minded car guys to jack up your take home pay. How about losing the touchy feel good story about needing the dough to fund your restoration project, eh? Us mere mortals do not advertise our wares with a link to an EBay STORE....sounds commercial, eh Jim? This area should be for non commercial use , agree there moderator?
  13. Thanks Mark. If we can keep you going - what is involved in "Frenching" and channeling?
  14. Mark, What is a good book on the subject? I believe a chopped roof looks cool on the 42 - 48 Buicks. I do not like to cut up an unmolested original, but would rather do a modified car from 20 other donor cars without guilt. Tom
  15. Thanks for the tips. What is involved in chopping a top? On some cars it looks great. I realize that new glass has to be fabricated, etc. I am more curious on the accurate removal of metal - how does one figure out the amount to remove? Cardboard templates? Or ?? Teach away, please. Thanks, Tom
  16. There is a saying in machine shops: Good, fast, or cheap. Pick two. Good luck, Tom
  17. Can anyone give me an accurate picture in my mind of what Bakersfield is like? I am on the east coast and have never been there. Thanks, Tom
  18. Check your distributor for proper operation, also. Good luck. Tom
  19. Good comments - I would like to add that it is a good idea to store the media in a five gallon bucket with lid, when not in use. Will hold 40-50 lbs of media. And another tip - you do not need 90+ psi of shop air - adjust to 50 - 80 psi. Good luck
  20. Word of mouth is best. Go to a local car show and ask around. Word of caution - there are plenty of hacks out there. On or off site repairs? If on your site: Do you supply tools, lift, solvents, etc. These are questions that you will be asked - and charged accordingly. On the subject of retirees: most will be like a turtle on its back if it involves the use of a creeper, - a younger one is better here... Good luck.
