  1. Looking at the sloted areas as part of the holes in the first picture, Where a know to turn on and off the gas, ... I would vote for maybe a gas manfold for maybe a stove.....maybe/?
  2. I know of a person that has a 1913 or 14 Buick that had the engine redone by a friend of his Dads to "modern compression, modern clutch from like a Camaro, etc" and it turned out awful!! The car is not driveable and he is in the process of having the vehicle put back to stock so he can drive the car and enjoy it as it was intended. The pleasure of having an old car is being able to drive it as it was intended and designed. That is one of the reasons that I have my clutches relined with leather only. I agree with Mark Shaw that if it lasted 100 years so far, how will a new leather reline not outlast me.
  3. Do not know about the particular plugs that you have, but there were a number of companies that "remanufactured" spark plugs in the 50's & 60's and sold them for about 1/2 the price of new plug. AC Spark Plug actually advertised authorized cleaning stations. I believe that the companies sand/media blasted the plug in the electrode end, high voltage tested them to be sure they were not cracked and then cleaned them up and repackaged them. I remember seeing a number of blister pack remanufactured plugs being sold in the 60's and even into the 70's. After car manufacturers went to non leaded gas in 1975 and the tune ups went from 12,000 mile tune ups with new plugs to the 100,000 mile intervals and platinum plugs, these remanufactured plugs went away.
  4. Here is what I like to use. 12346004 - GM Teflon Pipe & Thread Sealant - 1.69 Oz. Tube <!-- Begin Product Rating -->
  5. Bernie, You continue to amaze me at your talents. The car is looking unbelieveably fantastic. Larry
  6. Interesting posting for a real Buick guy
  7. Merry Christmas Grant. Are you getting the Corvette out for some driving time?
  8. This is very similar to the one that I have on my 15,17, & 18. Ford Model A T V 8 Tractor Oil Can Holder Hot Rat Rod | eBay
  9. Driving my '15 Truck about 30-35 mph which is maximum speed with rear brakes only over a long distance for a show with all of the oblivious drivers on the road will not happen out of common sense and safety. I am comfortable driving around town, but there are limits to what is practable with the brass & nickel era cars in my humble opinion. That is why I have a trailer.
  10. I agree with using the ash for the running boards. Too bad you were not close as I have a bunch.
  11. Buick did not make a truck in 1927. If the guy you met says he has one, then is is probably a conversion or a truck that was built on a commercial chassis that Buick built during that era. Last trucks that Buick built were in 1922-23.
  12. The picture looks similar to Mark Shaws Buick Truck which is a 1925 D45 modified . The truck was probably made on one of the Buick commercial chassis that Buick supplied to different coach builders at the time. If not, then it was probably a converted car which was not uncommon during the war to get more gas for farm trucks. All Buick trucks from the factory had four cylinder engines except engineering exercises in the 40's and beyond.
  13. Sorry to hear of the passing of Dave. He will be missed in the Buick Community.
  14. Is the arm that comes out the back supposed to have a tab on it to secure the door closed? It has been a while since I have seen one of these but that is my memory.??
  15. From going over 20 years, besides some of the parts being different, the one thing that you will not be able to experince from back then is the mud.
  16. My big thing is to put d-con on the floor around the car and make sure there is no dog or cat food in the garage. Stored the car one year in a garage that had dog food and ended up with mice in the car. The only time I have had that problem.
  17. My personal set up is a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado with a 5.3L. I tow either a 24ft enclosed or an 18 ft open trailer. I get about 18-19 without a trailer, 14-15 open, and 12-13 with the closed driving with common sense.
  18. I agree that the truck on the left is a conversion. Probably a four door touring car. Might consider a 1917 Oldsmobile. Look at the loovers for hood.
  19. And there is a sign in the window indicating that the building is available,... I guess that means for sale.
  20. Here is an old Buick dealership that I ran across last weekend in Ky. It is also available for sale.
