  1. Susan, If you can post a picture of what you need for the wheel hold down, I might have one also.
  2. If I was guessing, I would say that they are brackets for a foot rest. Just a guess.
  3. My over all experience with the car people, especially the pre-war group is that the are the greatest demographic group that I have been associated with. Of all of the transactions, etc, there has been only one person that has not done what he said he would do. Overall a good average. Now when you get into the newer stuff I believe there is a shift. A friend of mine has a 67 Chevelle and was at a car show. As he sat on one side of his car watching it and the show, someone stole the hub caps on the other side and almost made off with the shifter knob. Crazy stuff.
  4. As Forrest Gump said, "Stupid is as stupid does"
  5. If I was to guess on this, I would say bad ground.... Check the system electrical connections. Not the ones at the clock.
  6. I am in this column also. The more that I know about the basics the car was built with, the more I appreciate the KISS method. I was having a backfire problem with my truck and it ended up being a cracked insulation where the wire goes from the coil into the distributor. Very simple fix, but difficult to find. Truck now runs great!!
  7. Sorry to hear about your loss. Remember the good times.
  8. My guess would be for a Cadillac about 1905
  9. Here are a couple of pictures from the car show that they had at the Sloan Museum in Flint today. I also found Brian Heil at the show. Also saw Shadetree and his wife Jessica and their '52 Buick. Nice show, but was small because of the colder over cast day.
  10. Susan, Have the same problem with the water pump shaft on my truck. I am going to have a new one made from stainless steel this winter. It would be best to find a good machinist that can use your old one as a pattern. George only needs a good hubcap to make the hub puller. Not one that is damaged. George does GREAT work and made a puller for my one truck. Highly recommend him. The rim tool and hub cap wrench can be found at may older swap meets or ebay. Also the hub caps come up for sale on ebay. Patience is necessary. If you post a picture of the hub cap, one of us might have one in our collections. Pictures of anything that you need is very helpful.
  11. I agree with NTX5467. I have never found a miracle fix in a can. It has always been go to the failed part(s) and replace it/them. There are no shortcuts in making a vehicle run well. The old saying "pay me now or pay me later" comes to mind & "fix it right the first time" continue to be true.
  12. Hershey is everything. As the prewar cars get fewer, the parts become less. Lots of post war stuff including chrome.
  13. Trimacar, I did not see you at the dock as I am waiting for my ship to come in also. Some day I might buy a T, but need to get my current stuff running. As for the T guys knowing to the month when a part was built, they are amazing. Unbelievable depth of knowledge. I am in awe of what some of them know.
  14. The first one I would guess is a Cadillac horn button. Don't know what year.
  15. Trim a car... you were right on target for value.
  16. Looks very similar to a 1917-18 Buick small 4 cylinder engine for the D-34, 35 series of vehicles.
  17. IMO, almost any oil today is better than the best oil available at the time your car was built. The only question you might ask is do you want to run multi grade or straight weight oil? There are others with strong opinions on the best oil to use. Using alcohol added fuel / E-10 which is gas with 10% alcohol should have no impact on the oil you use. BUT>.........it can/ will affect the rubber components, fuel lines, fuel pump diaphragms, carb parts, and the list goes on.
