  1. Dave, See my post just above this one. Your car/ van had the correct glass in all positions. Laminated glass is only used in the windshield. Tempered in all other locations. This is true for all vehicles whether it is a truck or car, or cross over.
  2. For automobile glass, the windshield is a two ply glass with a plastic sheet sandwiched between the two pieces of glass. It is made this way so if it breaks the parts of the glass stays together and should not enter the passenger compartment. With a large enough impact you can get glass in the passenger compartment. Interesting note is that Henry Ford pioneered safety glass in the Model T. Here is a link with the story on the glass. http://www.secondchancegarage.com/public/windshield-history.cfm As for the side, rear, sunroof glass it is a Herculite® glass which the trade name for a tempered glass made by PPG. Tempered glass is made so that if it has an impact it will break into small pieces and not cut the occupants of the vehicle. It has been used in cars since after WWII. Interesting thing about tempered glass is if you have a broken window it breaks like a spider web. You can look at break lines and follow the radiating lines to the center of impact.
  3. I would say same in theory as the vacuum valve for the headlights for our Corvette, and it is a 1976.
  4. As an additional item, I am going to add a fuel cut off solenoid to my truck so the fuel is always off when the ignition is off. Bought one that is sold for the Model T
  5. You guys are too kind, but thanks for the compliments.
  6. Grant Glad to hear all is well. Playing with boats & Cars, what a great life.
  7. Are you talking about a valve that screws into the bottom of the vacuum canister? If that is what you are looking for, there is probably two routes to go. One is to put in a helicoil and use an original valve, or maybe go to a hardware store/ Lowe's etc and see if they have a brass valve that you can use in the bottom of the tank. The plumbing dept is a great place to visit for some of these issues.
  8. Steve78 Stutzman wheel in Berlin, Oh does great work and is reasonable. I have had them do two sets of wheels for me.
  9. I would put the Buick in the center picture as a 1918 D-45 six cylinder
  10. Steve78 Always interested in trucks. Let us/me know what you find. Pictures are always great for information.
  11. Now that is funny. Definitely rooted to the ground.
  12. My sentiments too. In God we trust, all others bring cash.
  13. Why would you look to drive without a horn relay? Is there a problem with the wiring? Just curious.
  14. The worst color combination that I drove for work was about an '83 LeSabre that had yellow/cream exterior, Gold vinyl top and the interior was a lime green upholstery. Talk about a mis-built vehicle color combinations. YUK.
  15. Larry, I had the same experience with a couple of Corvair Station wagons with good trim, etc. Tried to sell them through ebay, the Corvair club, craigslist, etc and could not even get an offer close to scrap value. Both are probably being made into toasters in China now. Could only wait so long and needed to dispose of them.
  16. Normal attire is a speedo & sandals. Maybe farmer overalls. OOOPS, He did dress up for the Eyes on Design show this last summer. Even sported a bow tie. I know because I was there with my wife. Second picture is the three of us. The first picture is him giving an interview to a middle east TV station with the Chartreuse Lady behind him.
  17. For most of the shows a nice certificate would be more than enough. Easier to store.
  18. If you can get a GM Factory manual for that particular transmission there should be a chart that tells what parts are applied in forward but not in reverse. You can tell what should be applied but is not working. A quick thought, is there enough transmission fluid in the unit?
  19. Larry, You are starting to sound like Shadetree, except he moved from Georgia. Talk to him now and he is getting a warmer heart for Michigan!.
  20. Here is an interesting video clip from The Henry Ford museum on the winning Ford Mark IV from LeMans in 1967.
