  1. Is this a picture that was taken in Louisville, KY?
  2. Or the 1 & 9 are the mold/cavity numbers which would not be unusual.
  3. No idea, but would be probably be for a newer car. Teen cars from my experience with the vehicles I have are about 8 1/2 inches in diameter as an average.
  4. Robert, Glad to see that you changed your tag line in your location to Car Guy Heaven. I told you that you would be car over whelmed and that Michigan is the best place to be for a car guy in the summer.
  5. And I would bring an extra pair of socks and change them at lunch. You will feel much better.
  6. On the old AC spark plugs, the higher the number, the hotter the plug. The S means there is a "skirt" or area below the threads on the shell.
  7. I agree!! I would not click on the link either. Looks potentially very bad.
  8. Three things that I do not do. 1. Jump out of perfectly good airplanes, 2. Bunge jumping, 3. Ride a motorcycle. The risk management side of me says too much downfall to upside.
  9. Harry, I agree with you. I bring this up because the number of cars / trucks that I have worked on after someone else with parts like nuts, bolts, brackets etc missing amazes me. I have always figured (with few exceptions) that the person that designed the vehicle in the first place did it for a reason. Regards, Larry
  10. I would like to understand the definition of educated in this context.
  11. You might have a ground connection that is not good and the wire that is letting the smoke out is a sneak path ground trying to supply the ground through another device. Letting the smoke out of wires is not a good thing.
  12. Here is an interesting question. Do people leave out nuts, bolts, screws etc. when working on cars because the are better than the engineers designing the car and all of those extra fasteners are really not necessary?? My opinion (and job as a GM engineer) is do what the manufacturer says to do as there was a reason for the design we might not know about. I would screw & glue with tight joints. I would probably use gorilla glue.
  13. You can make a cork float out of wine corks glued together with super glue. After shaping on a band saw and sander, coat the complete cork float with super glue to keep it from soaking up the new alcohol based fuel. Works well.
  14. If fuel runs out of the carb at those pressures, I would say that you have one of three things happening. They would be the float is too high and will not shut off the fuel, or the needle & seat is not sealing because of a mating problem, or maybe there is a cracked seat in the carb that keeps fuel flowing.
  15. I think your possible plan to use the wire wheels on a speedster is a good idea. Just does not "look right" for that year car. Just IMO
  16. My thought at first glance is it looks like it is for an electric car.
  17. Just a couple of random thoughts. Oil pressure? or maybe the wrong push rods?
  18. Welcome to the group. Post some pictures of the wedges that you need as I have an assorted few that I might be able to help you out. Maybe we can meet up at Hershey. Oh, and don't forget the pictures of the car. Post some of those also.
  19. I remember those two cars. It was a great side by side comparison
